The creator of this video didn't even scratch the surface of the best shots in this series. The cinematography is just stunning and Miles Teller played the brooding, lonely character to perfection.

The entire series is purposely pornographic and not-so-subtly satanic in its self-indulgence and fetishization of unnatural inversions. NWR has openly stated such about his work before with narcissistic zeal. There is a lot of symbolism baked in pointing to a glut of underlying themes, but which are never fleshed out in the narrative, only explored sensually. So ultimately the show's "thematic depth" comes from its nihilism. Its lack of depth. It's like the show itself exists only to admire its own emptiness. Awesome artistically, but not something I'm convinced was consciously intended.
He's colorblind in a way that he can't see subtle and neutral colors. The reason why he uses bright vivid colors is so that he can actually see what's going on.

Just finished watching and knew you would have a video on this haha. It had some beautiful shots but this was probably Nicolas Winding Refn at his most self indulgent. Too much can spoil a broth
The entire clip was scenic. Before I searched for this and found it was a mini-series, I thought it was a short film by you or a little-known filmmaker. The titles felt too bad that they contributed to this clip(reminded me of those flash games from mid-2010s) if we shift our focus to the visual aspects and not the story. The cinematographer for this series is Darius Khondji, the same man who was the cinematographer of Se7en. Truly, one could enhance the beauty of the cinematography by collecting stills of this series just like how it's done for The Simpsons(Scenic Simpsons).
Darius Khondji is probably one of the best cinematographers alive, but he did only 5 chapters of the series, the other 5 were by Diego García. It's surprising that you can't really tell the difference.

Rewatched this several times, both miles and jesus storylines parallel earch other on diverging paths. Of all i think 6 is amazing, slow but just sucks you in, you missed the shot of yatiza coming to party walking into neighbors house, that whole scene is eye candy
@@JunkyardHounds while I personally found myself skipping through a lot of the minute-long establishing shots and slow zoom scenes, I can’t deny that it’s Refn’s style, and without it wouldn’t be what it is.
