The mixing was apparently a theatre-specific issue. I had no issues at my screening, but aparrently several chains had bad copies or audio settings or whatever.
Same, I issues on my end. But not the first time I hear the complain
I had issues both times I went. Gwen's voice in the beginning kept getting drowned out by the music
I've seen it twice at two different AMC theatres. The first time did not have the mixing issues but the second time did. Definitely seems like a theatre-specific problem.
Thank you I was just about to comment this
Movie was CRAZY quiet at the beginning for me, a lot of the Vulture and Gwen's lines were extremely Difficult to hear, I didn't have this issue with Miguel though in the same scenes. Was very scared the whole movie would feel like that but thankfully it did not.
Someone yelled “What the FUCK” at the end of the film in my theater. It was so perfectly timed.
my theatre gasped, it literally sounded like that "audience gasp" sound-byte hahaha
my entire theatre violently boo’d but it was obviously just because they wanted more movie lol
@@beebs4283 well "more movie" is one way to see it, maybe they just want to know how the story ends and have no idea how much they will have to wait for the next one.
the theater I go to usually isn't very rowdy, it's not like some bigger theaters where any big blockbuster will get cheering at the end. and yet, this film did still get people to respectfully clap for a few seconds, it was great.
@@beebs4283 i dont care how good your film is, if you end on MULTIPLE cliffhangers, you fucked up. As a guy who doesnt care about the mcu or the sequels, I was annoyed. Show me a good movie and end it, or at leadt, resolve some of it!
I predict adum gives this a 7/10 only solely for spider horse
What the fuck
Scoot would’ve given this an 7/10 as well if there was a Spider-Tiger
@@carter_lovejoy I hope the next film has Spider-Tiger so that he can be friends with Spider-Horse
@@lily_flower0686 I hope the next film also has Adum and Scoot voicing them.
Miles morales is garbage
What is weird is apparently the whole “two part” thing was announced back in 2022 and was known to a few people I knew prior to release, hence why the film took five years to release, but the fact this was never mentioned in marketing is insane
The original titles for the movies were Across the Spider-Verse part 1 and 2. They kind of quietly changed it at some point way before release.
I mean the first look trailer they released ending on the title followed by "part one", why that wasnt continued in the promotional material is a bit odd though.
agreed, I knew it was Part 1 before watching because well... it said it in the first trailers which got everyone hyped for it.
I’m kind of genuinely angry it didn’t have part 1. Definitely some level of deceptive marketing in my mind. I had no idea this was a part 1 and the first was one of my favorite movies. I think it told a complete story nearly perfectly and the second one wrapping up so messily is really frustrating.
The teaser mentions part 1
It’s very funny that you didn’t think the school guidance counselor’s design didn’t match her voice when that’s exactly how she looks in real life
@@whatsaconeI didn’t think her voice matched either
i agreed with adam here, had no idea it was based on the VA!
Wait when did he say that, did I miss that part in the review?
@@arunalukariyawasam it comes up as text at 2:16 above her character
Yeah I remember hearing her first line and thinking “wait…that’s literally Rachel Dratch. She’s physically in this movie as herself?” She’s got such an iconic voice and look I’m surprised he didn’t recognize her.
If the sequel somehow manages to exceed expectations maybe Adum will finally give it an 8/10
(If Spider-horse saves the day with their gay tiger friend)
nah im calling it early he's gonna hate it
That's almost unprecedented for superhero movies. The only one I'm aware of that he has at an 8/10 is The Dark Knight which is like the magnum opus of the genre, so that seems to be his 10/10 for those movies.
I don't see how the 3rd act could've improved upon this. But I'm hyped to be wrong.
one for each leg!
The one aspect that's improved over the first for me is definitely the villain. Kingpin had a interesting backstory and solid voice work from Liev Schreiber, but I felt that there could've been more to him. I remember the fight in the train and suddenly his wife and son appear and are like "What are you doing? What's going on?" and then they go and Fisk goes "No don't go.". I kinda thought that the film tried to portray it where you'd feel sorry for him, but that moment is the only one close to that.
The Spot is not only funny, but builds from something pathetic to a legitimate threat. He was easily one of my favorite parts of the movie. Really hope they use more of him in the next one.
I wished Miguel as an antagonist was talked about more too, he’s basically what would happen if Miles took a leap of faith and failed so spectacularly that it haunted him. He’s so afraid of fucking it up again that it blinds him to the actual pain he’s causing.
The spot was the worst part of the movie lame boring villain
Yup, so stupid how Kingpin placed the death of his family all on blond Peter, when TBH, Kingpin’s wife was just a crappy and reckless driver-and their son, the tragic passenger-in that moment of emotional turmoil.
Kinda similar to how Gwen’s father places all the blame of Peter 65’s untimely death on Spider-Women, when no one seems to have pointed out the freaking giant Lizard (Peter 65, as it turned out) that wreaked havoc at that school dance.
I agree. I was satisfied enough with Kingpin that it didn’t negatively affect my enjoyment of the film. But he definitely didn’t have as much character development or charisma as The Spot. And keep in mind this is only part one. I strongly suspect we’ll get more character development for The Spot in part two
The Spot was so satisfying to me because his power is beyond broken from the start.
And I'm so glad the writers recognised that and ran away with it in such a big way.
Too often do we see characters with an overpowered skillset get done dirty by terrible writing
if Adam gives your movie a 7 out of 10, it's probably a cinema changing masterpiece.
He gave NWH that rating too
More specifically, if it's a pop culture/mainstream movie and he gives it a 7, it's a masterpiece lol
He gives a fair amount of things a 7/10
@@debrachambers1304 7 is a high score tho. His 7 is like most others 8 or even 9
@@angrycharizard no he’s right, most people just vastly overrate movies
The real achievement is the art style/animation. Truly next-level stuff. Apparently Spider-Punk alone took over 2 years to animate... That is crazy.
The amount of layering on his design was INSANE
My audience was too distracted by the Spider men pointing fingers moment that they ignored Miguel said "AY COÑO"
(Oh Fuck)
What I love about YMS reviews is that he really emphasizes if a movie will be good "for you." He understands that different people have different tastes and although there are a lot of objective qualities on which a movie should be judged, at the end of the day, the average person will watch a movie based on whether on not they'll enjoy it at all. Even the shittiest movie will have a fan and you'd be wrong not to recommend more shit to them.
💯
that’s why it’s so goofy when people want to take his ratings upon their own hearts. dude is taking great pains to present these reviews with caveats where they belong, much of the time. viewers treat YMS scores as more immutable than adam himself, lmfao
Honestly don't think its any better than the first film. First hour of the film was pretty meh.
@@NinjapowerMS it won't affect people's opinion though
I had no idea that it was a two parter and the cliffhanger not only had my jaw dropped but it made me excited to watch the next one.
Adum, you can't give this film a 7/10 solely because there was a Spider-Horse!
There was also a Spider T-Rex.
Spider-Verse 3 should have a Spider-Tiger and be voiced by Scoot!
@@SolarDragon007And a Spider-Monkey and a Spider-Cat.

The value of a critic comes not in their opinions, but the consistency of them.
Odds are, there are people who's tastes match-up with Adum and for those people he makes a great critic because helps people make a decision on whether or not they will want to spend their hard earned money on a movie ticket.
I sometimes think Adum's criticisms can be harsh, but it makes the moments where he really enjoys a film all the more special.
When I see YMS Adum praise a film or even give it a 6 or 7 out of 10, I think, "Damn, I'm probably really gonna like this movie then."
The "crowd moaning" sequence in this video was HILARIOUS 😂 "oh my gahhhd"
It really speaks to the quality of the Spider-Verse films when even the most critical take I've seen on them still says they're good
If you want a fascinating bad review of this film TrollsWorldTourfan. My goodness it is something to behold how poor it is.
Allow me to introduce myself. This movie is total garbage filth that makes a mockery of Spider-Man mythos, origins and in general the character. It's also multiverse slop full of gross characters that end up diluting the Spider-Man character even further. A horrid film full of leftist messaging and ideology.
so far the only group of people who are very critical towards the movie are those “anti-woke” channels that manages to hate anything that doesn’t conform to their beliefs

YMS meeting Kai Cenat was a bigger crossover than anything in Across the Spider-Verse.
This originally WAS titled Across the Spider-Verse: Part 1 but they changed it, and Part 2 is now called "Beyond the Spider-Verse". I am glad for the change.

One of my favourite parts about the movie are oddly enough, the parts where the setting names for different Earths dropped, it gave the sense that the movie feels so much bigger than what you would see on screen.
The "Get Me Outta Here" Easter egg in the audience reaction was fucking incredible. How goes the internet man-hunt to find the actor, I hope progress has been made.
That audio easter egg is from the volume settings of Saw: The Video Game, in case anyone's wondering
Can someone please explain this?

@@romilrh Adam loves the "get me out of here " guy from the saw games. And gael proposed an internet manhunt to find the original voice actor for Adams birthday. So that Adam can finally get some help with releasing that 2nd part of the lion King review.

I saw it twice, first time way in front of the screen, second time back row. I understood Gwen in the opening monologue, a pivotal scene the first time, but heard none of it the second time. Also originally the movie WAS titled as a part 1
I watched this film in a giant theater, and afterwards I and the friends I saw it with all had a massive headache and our eyes hurt. I just found that funny
I did think the movie was pretty seizure inducing at some parts and probably could’ve done with a warning before the film. Although tbf I don’t think you can know about the spideverse movie enough to go see it, without being able to tell at a glance it’s probably seizure triggering.
same. between the opening scene, and the super long chase sequence, I actually felt really exhausted with this movie and had a headache.
Skill issue
saw it in XD and i felt perfectly normal afterwards 🤷♂️
My eyes were pretty sore after seeing it, but I'm also wearing glasses for the first time in my life at 25 years old and this was the first movie in theaters I saw with them so I wasn't sure if it was just getting used to the glasses or genuinely being overloaded by the visuals.
Knowing beforehand that the ending would be a massive cliffhanger was good because I saw it coming and the way people were just screaming with anger in the theatre at the ending was funny 😂.
I haven’t see Across the Spider-Verse yet, but I really want to point out that I like Adum mentioning being honest when experiencing a piece of media. It’s common sense, but some people don’t get that. This new film definitely looks pretty good though!
Just be aware that the whole movie is setting the scene for a sequel and you'll have a great time.
The movie doesn't tie any of its loose ends and adds a 3rd/4th subplot in the final scene.... which is fine as long as you know not to expect any resolution.
That cliffhanger did me SO dirty but honestly if we get more movies that are this beautiful I’m willing to let it slide on occasion. I’m invested and it really does start at a run and never really stop, so I’m waiting desperately for the next one. I agree that 7/10 on a real scale (where a decently okay movie is a 5/10 instead of treating a 5/10 is failing like we’re in elementary school) is pretty accurate. I don’t see it being the masterpiece 10/10 some do but I also get WHY they’re obsessed.
so glad to hear someone point out the issues with the audio mixing, especially toward the beginning of the movie, I almost felt like the theater's audio system was broken initially
Your theater likely got a poorly mixed version, mine was fine but some major chains had a worse mixed version for the first few days
Makes me really glad that my theater did it right on my watch lol, I could hear at least almost everything, just the bass rarely got in the way for very casual/quiet sections.
Never expected Adam to meet Kai but damn, that's cool. Thank's for posting the quickie for ATSV man 💙

If Adam gives a film a 7 it’s basically a masterpiece at that point
From your perspective, it might be so.
Worth mentioning this WAS originally titled Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 when it was announced. They dropped it shortly after and now the third one will be Beyond the Spider-Verse instead.
First one was way better and it even had an ending!
Kai Cenat and Adum both having a shared theatrical experience was not something I would have ever expected to see.
the original title of the movie was Across the Spider-Verse Part 1, and then they changed it. I personally knew it would end on a cliffhanger, but I think it was fucked up that they didn’t make it clear that it was the first part of a story like they were planning to do.
I think ending the movie on a cliffhanger with no previous warning was perfect.
Audiences have gone too long being able to predict whatever they'll see in a superhero movie, we needed a curveball
telling half of a story isnt a curveball. its a cynical cashgrab and they arent the first to do it.
@@Axel-iy4xs they advertised that it was the first part ages ago when it was first announced.

@@chumberger They should've learned some basic editing and cut the movie down, or make 2 separate movies rather than getting blueballed with one. It was already too long, and the "To be continued" only solidifies that.
@@Axel-iy4xsIf you count the movie being Gwen’s story (being that it’s treated as more of a short story compared to Miles’s), then it’s good on its own. I can see a bit of people being upset over the story being split though.
Honestly what excites me most about how much love this movie is getting is the fact that it feels like a passion project. A lot of large studio's have been focused so heavily on money for so long that any feeling of actual excitement around the whole process of creating something feels lost. Like sure new marvel movies come out, but when watching into the spider verse I just got the feeling like the movie was just a small teams bid at a passion project that gained traction and a fanbase. Then they were able to take creative control and more money from Sony to make a bigger and better sequel.
Idk that's just what I feel, but it gives me some hope for standalone movies and animation on the big screen

The funny thing is that my theater had the complete opposite reaction when the film ended. People were applauding and cheering.
I liked that they had the balls to end it on a cliffhanger and left the theater satisfied and excited for the next one.
In defense of the ending, I'd say this movie more than any other superhero movie is trying to capture the vibe of what it feels like to read a comic book. I mean both films start with the "approved by comics code authority" tag. So with that in mind, it's a pretty common trend for comic books to end on cliffhangers, and I think this film captured that very well. You can say that that doesn't translate well to film, but at least we can understand what the filmmakers were going for. Personally, I thought it was fantastic.
A cliffhanger is quintessential comic book though. Glad they nailed the aesthetic even more with this film.
idk i liked the fact that they didn’t include a “part one” in the title. it made the experience even better. the “YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!” from the audience was definitely a highlight 😂
Love the “Let me out, I didn’t do anything!” From the saw game at 4:12
When Neil Breen got in his spider suit and said its spider time i lost it
He says this'll be mentioned on his 2023 list as if it'll ever be made...
I appreciate the fact that you talk about the different ways that someone can value a movie at the start, to me as a 3D animator, I think this is a 10/10. I get how someone who watches film for a living might not connect in the same way as someone like me does. Very fair rating over all though
I absolutely saw some plot contrivances that didn't work for me, I had the same issues with the audio (thank you!) and I wasn't AT ALL into the brooding character guy. However... The aesthetic was so, SO GODDAMN GORGEOUS, that I forgive this film everything. I didn't even feel time passing because I was so engrossed in the visuals. Gwen's world is just eye crack and I'm here for it. I wanted to drown in those colours!!
The original had plot contrivances as well.
@@creedecriswell634 yup, it did.
Gwen's world was the only one I didn't love all that much tbh.
I could barely tell where she was half the time, It was so abstract half the time. And while I get it, different universes and all, I think that's one of the universes where they should've toned down the visuals, at least just a bit.
Audio is an issue with some theaters.
The audio issue seems to be theater specific; it sounded fantastic at the showing I went to.
Pretty much echoing my opinion on the movie. Great video, Adam. Thank you for not leaving it on a cliffhanger
Glad you mentioned the sound mixing! Especially at the beginning I thought there was an issue with the audio in the theater, but when I saw it again turned out that the sound mixing was not very good in the movie haha. Definitely enjoyed this movie more than the first which I thought to be slightly above average at best. I also was thrown for a loop at the end, and I as well as other theater patrons all booed when we saw the "to be continued" title card.
Apparently Sony messed up the mix and half of the theaters have the wrong copy of the movie
I can't wait for the podcast discussion
Great review like always. Glad you enjoyed it. Could you do an 11 hour video essay on why Spider-Horse is the best thing to ever exist in media?
4:04 I think we all need to come to terms with the fact that this entire channel exists just so that Adum can edit the "get me outta here" guy into stuff
Interesting that you didn't think the guidance counsellor (?) character didn't match her voice considering she looks pretty similar to her voice actor, Rachel Dratch.
My theater also audibly groaned about the cliffhanger 😂
Kai and Adum meeting is it’s own multiverse event
It’s so funny how many people were mad in my theater at the cliff hanger. So few movies have the balls to leave you with that many questions when that’s what gets people exited for sequels in the first place. Did anyone have the question “where does it go from here?!” At the end of aquaman?
The little "Let Me Out" at the end of the yelling bit got me
The thing is, the film was originally called Across The Spider-Verse Part 1 and was even in early trailers. Part 2 was renamed Beyond The Spider-Verse later.
It's funny you mention that people got upset that it ended on a massive cliffhanger, since it was basically BLASTED on the internet as "Across the Spider-verse PART 1" like a year ago. Glad you enjoyed it :>
I didn't follow news on the movie all too much, but I could tell, after the big chase, that they couldn't really conclude the whole story here, there had to be a sequel.
That, and they kept blaring "roll credits" music for the last like 15 minutes of the film. You know that type of music, the musical sting they use right before a movie ends.
But when the credits finally rolled, my friends were like "What the fuck? To be continued!?"
It was pretty funny.
As somebody who is not perpetually on the internet, I did not know that this is Part 1. I was also surprised that it ended in a cliffhanger.
I feel like that information was passed more among the fandoms than anything official. And since I wanted to avoid spoilers, I also avoided a lot of these groups. I had a similar reaction as other movie goers when the film was ending and I thought “oh this better not be a cliffhanger ending”
@@CoOlKyUbI96 nope. The first teaser back in December did say that it was gonna be a part 1. But from what others said, they changed the title later on
@@elusivegrain9162 really? I wonder why they changed that
I can attest to the sound mixing being theatre specific. I saw it in a Dolby sound theatre and it sounded immaculate the whole way through
I love the animation and overall tone for the Gwen universe. It worked beautifully.
The fact that they used The Spot and made him more than a Z-lister was great. He was ranked down there with The Kangaroo with spider villians.

To be fair, Marcus did state that his feelings may change if part 2 sticks the landing
My issues
*pregnant women putting themselves in danger being presented as empowering
*fathers being portrayed as significantly less competent than mothers
*nerfing a character to empower another
*cheesy dialogue
*alternate miles design
How are fathers shown less competent? The fathers are very integral to the story's. Maybe you feel that way because the films humanize them and show them making mistakes but the mothers barely have screen time, newest film gives some to Miles mom but no near balances the ratio. I didn't get that impression at all, it's actually very refreshing to see so many dads woven into the story.
@@enough2715. Miles’ mother is much more up to speed on what’s going on with him than his father is, despite him interacting with his father much more.
Peter is portrayed as nothing. If not, an incompetent father in this movie, Gwen‘s father is more keen to arrest her than listen to her
@@InnerAtanihYeah, Peter Parker was made irrelevant in this film. Do you know that the writers of Marvel were planning to replace Peter Parker with Miles since Miles' inception during the Ultimate contuinity?
I like how we went from funny-looking big block man to Anti-Spiral as the big villain
Kai Cenat and YMS crossing paths was NOT on my 2023 bingo card
“I also felt as though this character’s didn’t match her design” is hilarious cuz it’s literally modeled after the voice actress Rachael Dratch lol
The only reason Adum liked this one better is because he felt represented by the Spider-Horse
I'm impressed this movie was able to get a 7.2-7.4 from him, glad Adam liked it
Going in knowing it was a cliffhanger was so funny. I actually laughed when everyone started freaking out. I dont care i got some dirty glares, you people are funny.
Honestly same I was more confused at the reaction bc I assumed it was universally known that it was part one lol
That’s awesome
Ngl I kinda love that the entire conflict is driven solely through misunderstanding and assumptions. Miles and Miguel are obviously not badguys, but Miguel's pain and need for a control utterly blind him and, ironically, he propels the entire conflict forward
Its kinda like in Kung Fu Panda how Shi-Fu literally sends out a messenger to check on Tai Lung, but that duck's feather literally frees him.
The central conflict is the one miguel spells out for us from the get-go. It's a utilitarian calculation vs individual ego.
Miguel, if what he is saying is true, is doing the right thing here. He's allowing some people to die from the canon event in order to protect BILLIONS of people from dissappearing, possibly dying. That's not miguel being "blinded" by control. It's him doing what is the right thing in his mind, and the mind of 90% of the spiderverse.
The one thing the spider-society or whatever doesn't know, is exactly how canon vs non-canon works, and how exactly a non-canon event rips apart the universe. The only thing they know, is that it DOES happen. Miguel found that out the hard way.
I know that all of this is ASSUMING Miguel isn't lying about something, but the central conflict is more INTERESTING if he isn't.
So really, how is that a misunderstanding? I guess it IS an assumption, but it's a pretty reasonable one to make with the information they have. Keep in mind that if they DO NOT make this assumption, it could mean the death or dissappearance of, again, I have to state this, BILLIONS of people. How many times are they going to have to experiment with that before it becomes unethical? In my opinion, one time was enough.
What's good about the movie is that it doesn't clearly spell out for you who the "bad guy" is here. We are supposed to root for miles, but only because he's the main character. In any other situation, Miles would be an antagonist who doesn't wish to accept the responsibility that comes with the job.
In the end, the central conflic is tragic, as there are no "right" answers here, only your values. Miles was asked the impossible, and the conflict between him and the rest of the society are natural consequences of their situation. It's a classic case of a central conflict done well.
The one thing that DOES rub me the wrong way, is how the rest of the spider society didn't just immediately restrain Miles, fully knowing he would not want the canon event to happen, seeing as they ALL lived through that and know what it's like. If miguel had been intelligent, he wouldn't have given miles the chance to even listen to the explanation in the first place, he'd simply be restrained and sent back on his way home. Instead Miles gets the chance to get away. That is, if not a plot hole, at least a contrivance.
@RedFloyd469 So, the main theme of the movie was really about moral relativism to the main conflict? So, it's about moral ambiguity like just about every postmodern story out there. LOL!
Ive seen it 3 times now and the sound mixing was definitely noticeable each time, the first time was in dolby and sadly that was the one with the most sound mixing issues, 2nd viewing was in a regular theater and oddly enough i heard the dialogue better in that screening than i did in the dolby screening. The 3rd time i saw it was in IMAX and the sound mixing in that screening was easily the best of the 3. I dont think i had any trouble hearing the dialogue in IMAX so i would recommend seeing it that way.
2:17 it’s so funny that adam says the voice doesn’t match the character here cause this is basically just rachel dratch voicing herself
Regarding the sound, there is a bad version that is out, it seems AMC standard is the worst. It’s not just you, and it’s not how the movie is supposed to be. I saw it twice, both normal screens, and the Regal one was WAAAAY better than the AMC one.
It's funny, because, for the first time, in this film at least, I understood the contrivances of assumptions and expectations as an actual metaphor about relations, prejudices and stereotypes between minority groups, the way people believe that they're protecting others and being an ally when really they aren't. I believe part two is really going to hone in on whatever feels like a contrivance.
How were you able to figure this out?
3:08 so thaaaat’s why he likes this one better
Thank u for bringing up the ending , I was so flabbergasted when I watched it
The cliffhanger was told very early. When it was announced, the directors explicitly told the media that the movie is a part 1. Hearing my theater freak out like you described to a T, made me really question how much people pay attention to the world. Turns out, not well.
Lol
So apparently those audio issues are only happening in certain theaters - not all, but some. Nothing was really muffled for me, but apparently the producers or somebody starting sending the film off to theaters a little TOO early, and so, some people just get a worse version of the movie LOL.
I'm happy you enjoyed this one, Adum! Despite all the love bombing this film is getting, I find it interesting to hear people compare the two and debate which is better. While I personally find myself flying back and forth between checking out for the very Sony-ish "just for kids scenes" VS scenes that anyone could watch and get excited by throughout the majority of Into the Spiderverse, right up until the last act really, I'm not sure if this one will bring me to tears like the first film does. I'll have to see it again for sure. That said, Across the Spiderverse was a much more consistent journey - actually ALLOWING itself to be cool AND FUNNY without just mocking itself endlessly. I was a big fan. I also got to see this film in the same theater that I saw my very first film EVER - Lelo and Stitch. It's truly incredible to see where animation has come after all these years...
Also, I already see MANY people comparing the Spiderverse trilogy to the Raimi Trilogy, saying that the OG films have officially been topped, and listen, while you can certainly make the debate, those films, especially the first two, were doing the same thing for their time as these new Spiderverse films are for right now. They've pushed the boundaries in their respective mediums to the farthest degree, and they do not stray for A SECOND from the heart of Spiderman and what that really is at its core. I WOULD HOPE that after twenty years we'd have better Spiderman content, but we haven't really, at least until now. I think it's much more interesting to compare the Spiderverse films to the MCU Spiderman Trilogy, which some descends from mid to bad to empty nostalgia bait, NWH in particular really tries SO HARD to SQUEEZE ITSELF into the arcs and lore of the old movies while constantly insulting them AND THE FANS at the same time. This film on the other hand, could not be more clear that it was made by people who truly LOVE Spiderman and the "everyman hero" that he stands as. Also, comic book movies > superhero movies. Strange that it took so long for there to be animated comic book films as well, as I feel that just makes such logical sense. You have Adam West's Batman, the Sam Raimi Spiderman Trilogy (the first one in particular being the most comic-book-like) AND NOW, we have these. The first one already did a great job of allowing you to 'step inside' a comic book at times, but Across the Spiderverse IS a living comic book. It's as simple yet magnificent as that. Can't wait for the next one, and I'm excited to hear you and the sards speak about the film!
Cheers
Are we just never gonna get that Lion King remake part 2
YMS and Kai Cenat crossover was the last thing I could have ever imagined to happen
Just got out of the theatre seeing this at Disney worlds AMC which was a 3 story stadium seating for this film it was wild. Glad this video was just published!
I really enjoyed Across the Spider-Verse. Went to see it twice. During the 2nd showing, I couldn't help but sing "Sunflower" during the trailers to really set the tone for everyone. I was eventually kicked out of the theater. But not because I was singing, but because I was completely naked. Very interesting day.
same
I literally just left the matine showing. It was incredible
Guys The original title DID have part 1 in the title before the delay so yeah
I found the movie an absolute delight.
Just on a level of animation this movie has so much to give, there's so many great and bold choices in its styles and there's several very different ones too. Most animated movies struggle to deliver one.
I also wanted to give props to the facial animation which I found managed to often convey pretty subtle emotions.
I really like the movie for its story too. It's not that deep but I found it actually had purpose to having a multiverse and despite the crazy amount of characters I didn't see much filler.
I felt the sequel had a weaker narrative, but I enjoyed the characters a lot and the animation is still so full of passion and creative. The entire design theory behind Hobie was amazing.
Felt that too
The biggest problem that I had with the first movie is how they would pace out the flashbacks, you’d get hit with one flashback and literally seconds later, another flashback appears. Thankfully, this isn’t the case with Across.
How is this one a "weaker" narrative? It's not as straightforward, but it's still incredibly well written.
@@za-ir5ni As much as I hold _Into_ in high regard, I will admit that at face value, the premise is predictable and straightforward. _Across_ is far more unpredictable and nuanced in comparison, while keeping the fast pace of its predecessor.
@@za-ir5ni To me was the fact that almost everything was revealed through dialogue. I think the first is more effective at this and, also, in emotional moments. The first one knew about silence, this one doesn't know when to stay quiet.
I actually think the movie did originally have a part 1 in the title, but the removed it. Honestly surprised how many people didn't know this was gonna be two movies, that was announced when both these movies were first announced
In my showing I outright yelled "literally wtf" cause the ending was so good I wanted more. Then that kicked off a whole slew of reactions, then someone shouted "WHEN'S THE NEXT ONE?!" someone ELSE shouted "MARCH!" and then the cheers just erupted lol. I think Infinity War traumatized all of us in some way or another.
I'm not surprised to hear about the audio mixing issues at your screening. I work at a movie theater and was told that Sony evidently sent us copies whose default settings had significantly lower volume and weird sound mixing compared to what is standard. Sony also evidently had a note attached explaining that it was done this way because they received complaints their their movies were too loud or something like that?
We've pretty consistently been getting complaints and keep having to run upstairs and tweak the volume as a result, which is incredibly irritating, especially when it gets busy. And the fact that one of the producers actually had to tweet about it and tell people to ask theaters to turn it up pretty much confirms that they know it's an issue.
I honestly think they just messed up the audio on some of the copies and tried to claim it was done on purpose to save face.
After many heartbreaks, I've learned to avoid the hype as much as possible. Seeing YOU give a superhero movie a 7/10 just sent my hype levels through the roof. I swear to god Adum, if this is because of some damn horse and I end up being let down...
Did you watch it?😊 If so, what were your thoughts?
I found the pacing to be one of my biggest issues. I understand the drama and character dynamics, but I sort of never felt like most of them came to a satisfying conclusion and I felt that some scenes went on for far too long. I still really really enjoyed this movie but I think the first film is better as it's more of a tight script even though this film could be the more entertaining movie.
4:07 that was my fiancés exact reaction to the ending, I love how spot on this part of the video is lmao. Honestly I kinda disagree about the cliffhanger not being common knowledge ahead of time, for me it’s kinda just created a lot more anticipation for the next one
I think it's funny how everyone I know whose seen this has had a theater with people screaming no by the end
I watched the movie twice, and each time it felt like 2 1/2 hrs instead of 2h 16m. They packed *so* much in this movie
...so it felt 14 minutes longer?
Fun Fact: It originally was called Part 1, but they changed it for better marketing possibilities
Which makes sense, less people would watch if they knew that. My own dad refused to watch Harry Potter until the FINAL movie came out
This movie got people thinking in a bad way, baby don't trip.
Someone took a big L, don't know how that felt.
Looking at you sideways, party on tilt.
My 1 real complaint about the movie is it's really stupid how Gwen's dad thought she murdered Peter. There were numerous witnesses who saw a giant lizard running around destroying the place.
Lol
Glad you loved both. As for why people didn't like the 6 rating. My guess is because someone giving a movie they like a 6. It's mostly because the score is usually associated with the grade D or meh.
I always find that sort of reaction kinda funny because like. 6/10 isn't bad. That's closer to a 10 than a 0. I just don't think I've ever heard of someone giving a 6 to something they dislike.
