It's great that you mentioned South Africa and Chile as sources of mid range prices SB. I think other regions are Alto Adige, the Pfalz, Rheingau, Austria and going back to the Loire some of the satellite villages around Sancerre and Pouilly Fume. Where the quality is still pretty high, but the prices don't set you back as much as the aforementioned two appellations. Bordeaux Blanc and particularly the Graves region is a great place to look for SB/Semillon blends.

Great and informative video! I really like the explanations to why it can taste passion fruit etc. I have never noticed the cat pee but will keep my nose open to it going forward. 😬

Great video, I'm soooo lucky to live in New Zealand, with such an abundance of fantastic Sav's I'm spoiled for choice.

    Well done!
New Hampshire Wineman recommends Cade Sauvignon Blanc, but New Zealand makes consistently good SB wines.

Germany makes great Sauvignon Blanc too, and the prices of them are very moderate compared to the quality you get - great value stuff!

A fellow lover of Sauvignon Blanc from the Lake Michigan Shore. I believe this THE white grape for our AVA. Find me at If Vines Could Talk.

You don't have to spend much for a good (very good) bottle of SB. I've seen some California producers selling for $50 and over. A suckers bet IMHO. There are so many good SB below $20

Oh but a proper SB / Sém blend with a touch of oak aging built for the cellar... MMMmmmm. So good! Cheaper than a Chardy with the same pedigree!

I live in an area where I cannot find most wines I am looking for. I would love to know which websites Wine Folly recommends.

My mom hates Sauvignon Blanc for the cat pee note and I don’t mind it. I like Sauvignon Blanc from NZ and Alto Adige. I want to try more French Sauvignon Blanc and try to not just pick out a NZ Sauvignon Blanc when I look for one. By the way, you don’t pronounce the c at the end.

Great presentation. But there's actually one thing you don't know about sauvignon blanc. It's pronunciation. The C in blanc is mute. BLAN

Hahahaha. True. Ah the French, they can afford to throw away consonants like candy 🍬

Yeah, that cat pee note really limits my enjoyment of this grape. I seem to be very sensitive to it.

Cat pee and grass ?. That is disgusting. Why drink something that doesn't even smell good. In marketing I would use that against them to sell mine, with much better taste and around aroma.
Grass and cat pee ? . Pathetic, preposterous really. !!!
