I beat this horde with option two and it was great! I don't have the high capacity weapons (my special weapon was a crossbow, because I grabbed the wrong thing haha), but having my bike up on the rock helped because I could grab more ammo out of my bags. At first I had trouble getting the whole horde to follow me up the hill, I would get maybe 5 - 10 that would follow. I ended up having to throw an attractor and then napalm to prove to them that I mean business. haha
It's all about improvisation if things don't go quite right, and you clearly don't have a problem with this. Appreciate you watching the video, and great job considering you're special weapon is a crossbow.

yesterday I went to the sawmill thought I'll easily do 14:30 method but Nero checkpoint speakers was on for unknown reason and it particularly attracted all their attention except few wandering here and there that i managed to kill,now i have killed more than half of the horde but it'll take me time doing it in stealth
I've attempted to use the ledge trick a few times and I've noticed that they somehow manage to get to me everytime haha. Either way I've had no trouble with any of the other methods in this video and most of them worked like a charm absolutely great video for people new to the game keep it up 👍
5 great methods to be sure ! I think you know by now that I would use 2 or 5 , as there is no danger involved lol. Methods 1 and 3 are relatively safe ( if you are unlucky you can get pushed off the wood stack or the ledge , as I did of course ) and have the added advantage of also working in the Black Friday challenge. Lastly , method 4. It should have been an all stealth attack. You were well hidden and kept the horde away using attractors . What gave you away will remain a mystery . Incredibly informative and entertaining video my friend . You did an absolute great job ! 😊👍👍👏
Thank you for your kind words as always FM. Very difficult to get away with a full stealth takeout on this horde now as they have tweaked this horde from the early days. However, this horde as a threat has now been reduced to a bit of a joke with these methods. They will definitely get the masses past this once fearsome horde.
Actually, what gave your position away, It's because there were no attraction after the Napalm/Molotov, **but action** which the Horde / freakers Noticed). Let me explain - In stealth mode, you will only throw the following combination: 1) Attractor or Attractor Bomb. 2) Molotov or Napalm. 3) Pipe or Grenade. (Then the whole combination/cycle repeats) Important. After the 1st Molotov or Napalm is thrown Never throw a 2nd Molotov or Napalm. **It has to be followed** by a Pipe or Grenade. Then, back to Attractor, Napalm, or Molotov and Pipe or Grenade.

@Borislav 247 by the way bro, I will share with you a few safe locations for taking out Hordes at various Horde locations, which has never been discovered. In so doing, you can make some videos for all to experience. (Will PM you once I have list down the locations and where we can climb or ride the bike up)

I was terrified to take one this horde. Lol I’m on one to the last missions and your videos helped me so much! I used to tunnel method to funnel them in and just had to do it a few times. It was so much easier than I was anticipating! Thanks again for all of your amazing videos!! 👍🏼
I opted for method 2 & worked fantastic! Just a note, make sure you put the quest as active. It works much better when the quest is on the right one! I thought maybe it had been patched or something, nope turns out I didn't have the quest active & the horde just wasn't reacting as much because of it. 😅😂
Went with method 1 till I fell off lol got chased up the hill, used attractors moltovs gunfire etc, once they headed back towards the mill hit them from behind till they got down to half no. S. Went back to bike reloaded, at this point they were back in the mill. Went again with method 1 and took them out. Good fun.

I used the Nero checkpoint method. Jumped the bike over the fence turned on the checkpoint and deliberately left the speakers active then parked the bike up on the tent and safely took them out as they were coming :)
Okay, after watching the hardest horde in the game being consistantly mauled by what could essentially be shirtless Deacon it finally hit me: the only way to stop this horrible undead abuse is for them to bring in more infected birds or make the freaks jump or fly. Winged freaks or non stop fly by crows. Look at what we have done! Perpeuating the Resident Evil crows... Nicely done.
Rock solid methods! Wish i knew them when i took on this horde. Took me hours, 600-700 plus ammo, full utility and many trips to Iron Mike's to clear it without using high ground. It was slow, painful and expensive - exact opposite to what you've shown us here :)

Thank you I used the front rock method I like fighting the hordes but this one was giving me a hard time. I kept getting over run and swarmed on the ground I was low on napalm to.

I messed up with the sawmill. Earlier in the game I went to do a bounty hunter mission, and I started to gas up the Nero checkpoint. Thought I’d cut all the speakers and didn’t realize that there was a hidden one in the trees. So the horde came after me and I booked it out of there. 😂 Then I get to the story mission where I have to clear the horde, and they are scattered EVERYWHERE. I kept having to get there attention, take some out, use all my ammo, go back to camp to restock, and repeat. Took about 6 round trips to finally get them all. The rest have been easy, but my god this one sucked.
I feel the pain mate. The very first time I tried to open this Nero site, I made the very same mistake mate. Only difference with yourself, is that I took the time to take out the speaker with a Sniper rifle, then returned near the end of the game and completed the mission at the Sawmill Horde. But it's a lesson for sure mate.
@@borislav247I absolutely would’ve taken out the speaker, but I at the time I didn’t know it was in the trees. I didn’t learn that until I’d taken out the horde. Then I figured out where it was and I might have cried a little bit inside. 😂 I’m on my second run through, and I’ve vowed to stay away from that NERO checkpoint until I’m done with this.
@@christopherkimber7679 Without a doubt mate, this is the most missed speaker there is in the game, and Bend Studio were very clever (and evil, lol) with this one, as they knew the chaos they would bring from this speaker.
those moments are always the most scariest in this game you do a checkpoint they put a speaker somewhere you wouldnt think to look you end up turning on one or two speakers and bam you got a horde breathing down your neck but many of my surprise hordes came from when i was taking out camps
@@boltthunder2061 Those speakers have been the death of many a Days Gone player. 1 really sneaky one in the Nero site becide the Sawmill horde usually eludes everyone until the power goes on.
My favourite "legit" method, that doesn't involve glitches or ledge exploits, is the simple "lap" method. It basically involves running laps of the whole area between the sawmill, NERO checkpoint and the "Two Dog" roof (where he finds Two Dog in the original E3 2016 reveal). It's mostly just running and then picking your shooting moments very occasionally (usually on the roof of the sawmill, checkpoint and the two dog roof). You can use traps and molotovs/explosives if you want, but I can quite easily do it with just bullets. It's fairly easy but still a bit of a challenge, which makes it more fun and rewarding than a ledge method IMO 👌🏼
Oh I agree, if you can take out this horde without an easy kill location, it's far more satisfying. These methods are shown to help people who struggle with this horde.
2 days a lot of alcohol and me bashing my head against the wall before I found this video others had me on a piece of wood inside the mill 🤦🏽♂️ that method doesn’t work well lol but these methods are awesome thanks brother
Delighted they have helped mate. There are a lot of easy kill areas (using the Nero site is a fantastic one, it's on another video), but these are 5 of the easiest. The Nero site method never made it on this video as it was a very recent discovery.

That's a good spot for sure. Only thing I didn't like was that if you got onto the bridge first, the horde were difficult to get over to the bridge. But you took them out, so it's all good.
My favorite way to play this level is just run and gun. No bombs nothing just bullets and zombie brains. It’s easy to do if you just find a narrow place where they are forced to congregate just to get through the spot and turn around with a full clip and let them have it using your focus. You can take out almost 60 to 80 or more using that method. And I just run around the entire barnyard. If you get far ahead enough, you can run into the gun locker at the Nero checkpoint and load up again and keep on going. The adrenaline rush is awesome.
A great way to do it mate, and nice with the next level thinking of popping into the nero site to reload on ammo. that's seriously clever gameplay my friend.
I just used method number 2 to take down the horde because I was okay with the game when it wanted me to take out 300. I was okay with 175, 75, and I was okay with 50. 25 even. But 500? Five HUNDRED of these Swarmers chasing me while I go around the entire area trying not to get slapped by them to death? No thank you. I HAD to cheat the horde, and cheat the game, for the first time. But you know what? It got me through. And that's all that matters. It's all thanks to you again mate. It would've been impossible to take them all down the "intended" way for someone like me. Funny thing: About halfway through Deek got stuck on one of the lower parts of the rock, making it not clime-able again to get back to the other part. I literally had to slide down the rock, because I couldn't even get to my bike, and I got to one of the pile of logs to throw the frag grenades and attractors near them. At that point they were all back to their original positions. Then after crafting and throwing as many attractors as I could, even though I was being stealthy, they magically saw me and came running towards me using their "sixth sense" lol. I had to go around the area to take out the remaining ones, which were surprising quick and extremely hurtful. My father was watching me do all this and was so surprised and angry at the devs for creating such a tough mission lol. After I get platinum I'm never going to play this game ever again, unless of course I get enough courage by watching your Survival II playthrough of the game... honestly it's just so much relaxing and exciting to watch you play instead of playing the game myself... I appreciate all your efforts, mate. I have no words because hordes in this game stressed me out so much I was pretty sure my heart skipped multiple beats. No joke... Safe to say I'm not a good fit for survival-horror games lol... I saw a playthrough of *(spoilers)* Resident Evil 2 Remake where Mr. X follows the player literally everywhere, and knew at that moment I'd never be able to play that game without getting extremely stressed out... for context, I'm 22 years old lol.
Firstly mate, thank you for the kind words, and I totally get that a lot of people struggle with the large hordes. There is nothing wrong with taking out the hordes using these methods, as the enjoyment of the game is what counts, and if you can't defeat this horde, you would never get to the end of this amazing game, and everyone deserves to see the story played out in full (especially given the hours that everyone puts into this game). And some games are better to watch than play. The Last of US is the perfect example for me. Amazing story, and I love watching other people playing it, but it doesn't do much for me when I play the game. Lastly mate, thank you for watching my videos, and I'm delighted they have helped you.

As you've said, it's perfectly fine to use these methods if it means the story will move forward and at the same time we get to enjoy the game, as that's what games are designed for... I shouldn't have said I "cheated" the game, rather I should've said I took down the horde in a different manner, with a much easier method... :D The Last of Us is a perfect example as well! I've never played it, but watched it multiple times for the characters, story, and the gameplay loop, which I could never have enough courage to play by myself. But I'm starting to get some courage watching you take down so many hordes mate. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play my favorite survival-horror games.
I personally don't think these should be called glitches or cheats. In real life, you would have the option to construct or create methods to get up to high ground such as ropes or other climbing gear. Then pull those objects up or remove them from the enemy once you reach the top. The game doesn't allow you those options so basically anywhere you can go, so can the zombies. Instead, players have to get real creative like in this video to use tools like the bike to reach untouchable locations. Also in real life, a single person would never take on a 500 strong adversary by themselves so giving yourself an advantage is the way to go if you just want to progress the game.

@@wonderwomman5135 Played on of them a LONG time ago on the PC. But honestly WW, I don't play many games other that Days Gone. I did enjoy playing Crysis, but there are so many other games now I want to try, so it may be a while before I ever get back to the Crysis games.
How about using proximity bombs combined with a fuel can placed in the gully by the derailed train, sneak to the nearby door and toss a napalm molotov in to get the hordes attention, then leg it through the boobytrapped gully throwing the odd napalm.
@@borislav247 It's the method I've been using to clear out other horde sites. Mostly just with napalm and proximity bombs if there's no fuel cans close by.
One thing I found quite ridiculous how they made the freakers is how they are so stupid they run straight in to fire, yet somehow smart enough to realize they can climb up things.
It's so nice that you explained all the easy methods cleary. Specially the first one The Wood Trap Area, cause theres so many players that do that wrong. And also the new unique one, the last par. 22:09 And oh, also 1 freaker is twerking for Boris HAHAHAHA love the content bro.
I am surprised you did not include the Nero exploit. Leave one speaker attached, start the genny and walk your bike up the tent with legs of steel. When done shoot that last speaker and grab the injector. Two birds with one stone.
@@IMTM1 Got to admit, never usually a problem unless you move to the other side of the tent. Then I've seen one or two get up. But this game always surprises, lol.
I love this game, but I wish they had a skip button for the hordes or made it easier on the easy setting. But I will try to manage thanks to your videos ,I might be able to.🤘
@fariegost if you fail the horde 3 times in a row on the easiest setting you get the option to skip, same as when you have to chase someone on your bike, just let it fail 3 times and skip, no shame in it.
Hope it works out better for you this time ZB. It's just making sure you are on that top left corner, and then making sure none of the freakers get to you when they start to pile up.

Taking on the Sawmill Horde, you usually see a few flying freakers mate (very funny when it happens). Best of luck, and hope you have fun with the methods DMB.
I have a PS4 my step dad was given that I've never connected to the internet.... every now and then I play DG the way it was released, and you can get in through the windows of the other building (by the white gas tank) and if you drop in through the one nearest said tank, you land on a machine that the horde cannot get to you from... I'm sure they added boards to the main building; I know I shot explosive arrows from the roof opposite (with the now-boarded up windows), though not 100% sure if it was through the cracks that are still there or a proper gap; will need to fire up and have a look.

(present tense, since he is still there depending on which PS4 I use) One day, I'll upload some comparison screenshots as I have it on my PS4 & PS5. I just used a slightly modified method 1 of yours. I first let the horde to kill Two Dogs for me, and then I quietly climbed to that wooden trap you mentioned. And, either I don’t like to listen to your advice or I lack what you called “common sense”, I still used a few frag gernades just for the hell of it, lol. 😂

I've got to admit, option 5 is becoming a favorite with a lot of people for that very reason. Taking on this horde is always stressful, so having some things in place before you start is always good. Thank you for watching mate.
This horde will do that to you, but pick the method that works best for you, then forget about this horde bothering you ever again (unless you go on another playthrough of course).
Or you could go to the Nero station with your bike by boosting on the cliff behind the Nero place and then after landing in the site climb up the tent with your bike and they can’t reach you after that
You could indeed mate, and it was myself who discovered that method. It would have been on this video if I had discovered it before making this one, as it is now the easiest & safest method.
I most certainly have mate, but Bend Studio patched the area where the youtuber was in the water but was not drowning, like what is supposed to happen. I would have added this to my video on the Sawmill Horde that comes out later this year, but this method just doesn't work anymore FW.
im playing pc and they can get on the wood trap, driving up the rock works but the hordes need a lot more coaxing on this version .. im probably gonna try your tunnel version .. ive been killed about 20 times on the wood trap so far
Hey bro. Love your methods. They’ve helped me killed pretty much all the horses. Quick question tho. What gun is in your special weapon slot in the wood trap method?
That would be the MG55 my friend, and it's the top spec one you unlock when you take out 60% of the hordes in Days Gone (about 24 hordes). If you take out all the hordes in the North before heading South, you will get your hands on this one quite quickly, and because it's awarded to you, you don't have to grind to get to a specific trust level for any region. Some really good weapons are obtained by taking out the hordes when you have the chance.

Ah, number 3 is all about the placement on the ledge. Get that right, and they never come near you. Number 2 is still my favorite method, but they all have their merits.
i don't think i ever struggled with any horde, not even during my very first play trough. I did die one time at my first attempt at the sawmill, but that was totally my mistake cause i run in a dead end/no way out situation.

Hey man.I completed the sawmill horde early on in the game so is it going to respawn in the end game or is the notification going to pop up as completed?
The horde won't respawn mate, but, when you get the mission come up that requires you to take out this horde, you head to the sawmill & the game then goes to the cutscene you would see after killing them all.
A few questions. When do I get my hands on napalm cocktails? I ask as I’m still confined to the Molotov variety. Secondly, I cleared Sherman’s camp of zombies and now I can’t find the hoard. I’m guessing once you destroy all the nests the hoard disappears.
Ok, the napalm molatovs are unlocked quite late in the game, but you will unlock them before getting to the mission that asks you to take out the Sawmill horde. Now the Sherman's camp horde only unlocks once you complete the nero mission when you take Boozer with you. It has nothing to do with the nests. Hope this lot helps Jonathan.
bro i finally have plat on days gone. I dont know what game to buy now everything just doesnt hit the same. I dont want another zombie game because i doubt i will like it as much, and others just dont seem interesting. I prefer open world games so i looked into games like Spiderman (2018), AC Rogue, Unity, Watch dogs 2, Dying light 2. But nothing hits the same. I just cant find another game to play after Days Gone that i think will enjoy as much
I've got to admit mate, I have the same problem. I'm waiting for Dead Island 2 when it comes out at the end of April. But as for a game to replace Days Gone, I'm honestly struggling to suggest one. Maybe Horizon Forbidden West, but even that one doesn't seem to have the same level of open play as Days Gone does.
I totally agree mate. Being a running & gunning horde killer is the way I like to take them out. But this video is mainly for people who are struggling with this horde, and there are many that do, due to the size of it. Appreciate you watching the video mate.
The sawmill horde is one of the last main Days Gone story missions, so if you take on this horde before you are asked to (and most people do this, myself included), you will get nothing to say you have taken out this horde. Near the end of the game, when you are asked to go to the Sawmill, when you get there, the game will go straight to a cut scene when you try to enter the sawmill. Hope this helps Leslie.

First time I tried a livestream, RUclips wouldn't allow me to do one for 24 hours which sucked as quite a number of people were waiting to watch. I get that this horde promotes that kind of fear for a lot of players. These methods are there to hopefully make people's gameplay experience of this horde, a little bit less stressful. Appreciate you watching ZZ.
@@BYAN07 If you've defeated the Sawmill Horde, the only way to possibly take them on again is to reset the hordes after you have completed the Days Gone game. Until then, that's it ZZ.
The second part of this horde will only appear if you move Deek to the part of the rock where they actually see you. If you don't do this, you will need to come off the rock position with the bike, and head over to get the rest of the horde's attention, and then it's repeat the actions of taking out the first half.
Have they patched the wood pile one? (The first one you show). They patched a few challenge climbs, sadly. (Yes, you have to get back down for ammo, but it's nice to take a breather sometimes... even if the point is to run, ha ha.)
I assure you LC, they haven't patched the wood pile method. On the console, Bend Studio haven't touched this game in over a year. Can't speak for the PC version though, and some of the rock climb areas on the console sometimes don't work on the PC as they seem to be mapped slightly differently.

@@bentravis99 The gameplay is pretty solid on the PC Ben. The conversion over to the PC was a very good one. I have a middle range PC rig, and it plays pretty good. On a high end one, I would expect the game to run awesome. If it's on sale, go for it mate.
The first method is all about getting the correct position on the wood pile, but, it's also about the setup at the start. You always need to be heading over to this wood pile from where I show. If you head there via the rooftops, you will get problems.
I tried number 2. Killed a lot, then the music stopped. None showed up on survival vision. Went back into the mill to get resources and saw a huge chunk of horde was going back inside. I lead that bunch to the train tunnel and finished them off, went back and there was still a huge number left?
You get no conformation of taking out this horde if you take them out early in the game. Only reason I get a notification on screen, is because I've already completed the game, and then reset all the hordes. Only then do you get conformation on screen when you take them out like I do in this video. Hope this helps mate.

If the speakers are on, just shoot them down & run, return later, then have a field day with the freakers mate.
I've attempted to use the ledge trick a few times and I've noticed that they somehow manage to get to me everytime haha. Either way I've had no trouble with any of the other methods in this video and most of them worked like a charm absolutely great video for people new to the game keep it up 👍

5 great methods to be sure ! I think you know by now that I would use 2 or 5 , as there is no danger involved lol. Methods 1 and 3 are relatively safe ( if you are unlucky you can get pushed off the wood stack or the ledge , as I did of course ) and have the added advantage of also working in the Black Friday challenge. Lastly , method 4. It should have been an all stealth attack. You were well hidden and kept the horde away using attractors . What gave you away will remain a mystery . Incredibly informative and entertaining video my friend . You did an absolute great job ! 😊👍👍👏
Thank you for your kind words as always FM. Very difficult to get away with a full stealth takeout on this horde now as they have tweaked this horde from the early days. However, this horde as a threat has now been reduced to a bit of a joke with these methods. They will definitely get the masses past this once fearsome horde.
Actually, what gave your position away, It's because there were no attraction after the Napalm/Molotov, **but action** which the Horde / freakers Noticed).
Let me explain - In stealth mode, you will only throw the following combination:
1) Attractor or Attractor Bomb.
2) Molotov or Napalm.
3) Pipe or Grenade. (Then the whole combination/cycle repeats)
Important.
After the 1st Molotov or Napalm is thrown
Never throw a 2nd Molotov or Napalm. **It has to be followed** by a Pipe or Grenade. Then, back to Attractor, Napalm, or Molotov and Pipe or Grenade.

In so doing, you can make some videos for all to experience. (Will PM you once I have list down the locations and where we can climb or ride the bike up)

I opted for method 2 & worked fantastic! Just a note, make sure you put the quest as active. It works much better when the quest is on the right one! I thought maybe it had been patched or something, nope turns out I didn't have the quest active & the horde just wasn't reacting as much because of it. 😅😂

Went with method 1 till I fell off lol got chased up the hill, used attractors moltovs gunfire etc, once they headed back towards the mill hit them from behind till they got down to half no. S. Went back to bike reloaded, at this point they were back in the mill. Went again with method 1 and took them out. Good fun.

I used the Nero checkpoint method. Jumped the bike over the fence turned on the checkpoint and deliberately left the speakers active then parked the bike up on the tent and safely took them out as they were coming :)
An awesome way to do it Christopher. Had I discovered that method before I made this video, the nero way would have been included in this one, lol.

Okay, after watching the hardest horde in the game being consistantly mauled by what could essentially be shirtless Deacon it finally hit me: the only way to stop this horrible undead abuse is for them to bring in more infected birds or make the freaks jump or fly. Winged freaks or non stop fly by crows. Look at what we have done! Perpeuating the Resident Evil crows...

Rock solid methods! Wish i knew them when i took on this horde. Took me hours, 600-700 plus ammo, full utility and many trips to Iron Mike's to clear it without using high ground. It was slow, painful and expensive - exact opposite to what you've shown us here :)

I messed up with the sawmill. Earlier in the game I went to do a bounty hunter mission, and I started to gas up the Nero checkpoint. Thought I’d cut all the speakers and didn’t realize that there was a hidden one in the trees. So the horde came after me and I booked it out of there. 😂 Then I get to the story mission where I have to clear the horde, and they are scattered EVERYWHERE. I kept having to get there attention, take some out, use all my ammo, go back to camp to restock, and repeat. Took about 6 round trips to finally get them all. The rest have been easy, but my god this one sucked.
I feel the pain mate. The very first time I tried to open this Nero site, I made the very same mistake mate. Only difference with yourself, is that I took the time to take out the speaker with a Sniper rifle, then returned near the end of the game and completed the mission at the Sawmill Horde. But it's a lesson for sure mate.

Then I figured out where it was and I might have cried a little bit inside. 😂 I’m on my second run through, and I’ve vowed to stay away from that NERO checkpoint until I’m done with this.
@@christopherkimber7679 Without a doubt mate, this is the most missed speaker there is in the game, and Bend Studio were very clever (and evil, lol) with this one, as they knew the chaos they would bring from this speaker.
those moments are always the most scariest in this game you do a checkpoint they put a speaker somewhere you wouldnt think to look you end up turning on one or two speakers and bam you got a horde breathing down your neck but many of my surprise hordes came from when i was taking out camps
@@boltthunder2061 Those speakers have been the death of many a Days Gone player. 1 really sneaky one in the Nero site becide the Sawmill horde usually eludes everyone until the power goes on.
My favourite "legit" method, that doesn't involve glitches or ledge exploits, is the simple "lap" method. It basically involves running laps of the whole area between the sawmill, NERO checkpoint and the "Two Dog" roof (where he finds Two Dog in the original E3 2016 reveal). It's mostly just running and then picking your shooting moments very occasionally (usually on the roof of the sawmill, checkpoint and the two dog roof). You can use traps and molotovs/explosives if you want, but I can quite easily do it with just bullets. It's fairly easy but still a bit of a challenge, which makes it more fun and rewarding than a ledge method IMO 👌🏼
Oh I agree, if you can take out this horde without an easy kill location, it's far more satisfying. These methods are shown to help people who struggle with this horde.

Delighted they have helped mate. There are a lot of easy kill areas (using the Nero site is a fantastic one, it's on another video), but these are 5 of the easiest. The Nero site method never made it on this video as it was a very recent discovery.

That's a good spot for sure. Only thing I didn't like was that if you got onto the bridge first, the horde were difficult to get over to the bridge. But you took them out, so it's all good.
Methods 4 and 5 are my favourites here.
I've got to admit Allan, 5 is rapidly becoming my favorite as it's so hastle free in how it's done.

My favorite way to play this level is just run and gun. No bombs nothing just bullets and zombie brains. It’s easy to do if you just find a narrow place where they are forced to congregate just to get through the spot and turn around with a full clip and let them have it using your focus. You can take out almost 60 to 80 or more using that method. And I just run around the entire barnyard. If you get far ahead enough, you can run into the gun locker at the Nero checkpoint and load up again and keep on going. The adrenaline rush is awesome.
A great way to do it mate, and nice with the next level thinking of popping into the nero site to reload on ammo. that's seriously clever gameplay my friend.
I just used method number 2 to take down the horde because I was okay with the game when it wanted me to take out 300. I was okay with 175, 75, and I was okay with 50. 25 even. But 500? Five HUNDRED of these Swarmers chasing me while I go around the entire area trying not to get slapped by them to death? No thank you. I HAD to cheat the horde, and cheat the game, for the first time. But you know what? It got me through. And that's all that matters.
It's all thanks to you again mate. It would've been impossible to take them all down the "intended" way for someone like me.
Funny thing: About halfway through Deek got stuck on one of the lower parts of the rock, making it not clime-able again to get back to the other part. I literally had to slide down the rock, because I couldn't even get to my bike, and I got to one of the pile of logs to throw the frag grenades and attractors near them. At that point they were all back to their original positions. Then after crafting and throwing as many attractors as I could, even though I was being stealthy, they magically saw me and came running towards me using their "sixth sense" lol.
I had to go around the area to take out the remaining ones, which were surprising quick and extremely hurtful.
My father was watching me do all this and was so surprised and angry at the devs for creating such a tough mission lol.
After I get platinum I'm never going to play this game ever again, unless of course I get enough courage by watching your Survival II playthrough of the game... honestly it's just so much relaxing and exciting to watch you play instead of playing the game myself...
I appreciate all your efforts, mate. I have no words because hordes in this game stressed me out so much I was pretty sure my heart skipped multiple beats. No joke...
Safe to say I'm not a good fit for survival-horror games lol... I saw a playthrough of *(spoilers)* Resident Evil 2 Remake where Mr. X follows the player literally everywhere, and knew at that moment I'd never be able to play that game without getting extremely stressed out... for context, I'm 22 years old lol.
Firstly mate, thank you for the kind words, and I totally get that a lot of people struggle with the large hordes. There is nothing wrong with taking out the hordes using these methods, as the enjoyment of the game is what counts, and if you can't defeat this horde, you would never get to the end of this amazing game, and everyone deserves to see the story played out in full (especially given the hours that everyone puts into this game). And some games are better to watch than play. The Last of US is the perfect example for me. Amazing story, and I love watching other people playing it, but it doesn't do much for me when I play the game. Lastly mate, thank you for watching my videos, and I'm delighted they have helped you.

I shouldn't have said I "cheated" the game, rather I should've said I took down the horde in a different manner, with a much easier method... :D
The Last of Us is a perfect example as well! I've never played it, but watched it multiple times for the characters, story, and the gameplay loop, which I could never have enough courage to play by myself.
But I'm starting to get some courage watching you take down so many hordes mate. Hopefully one day I'll be able to play my favorite survival-horror games.
I personally don't think these should be called glitches or cheats. In real life, you would have the option to construct or create methods to get up to high ground such as ropes or other climbing gear. Then pull those objects up or remove them from the enemy once you reach the top. The game doesn't allow you those options so basically anywhere you can go, so can the zombies. Instead, players have to get real creative like in this video to use tools like the bike to reach untouchable locations. Also in real life, a single person would never take on a 500 strong adversary by themselves so giving yourself an advantage is the way to go if you just want to progress the game.

@@wonderwomman5135 Played on of them a LONG time ago on the PC. But honestly WW, I don't play many games other that Days Gone. I did enjoy playing Crysis, but there are so many other games now I want to try, so it may be a while before I ever get back to the Crysis games.
How about using proximity bombs combined with a fuel can placed in the gully by the derailed train, sneak to the nearby door and toss a napalm molotov in to get the hordes attention, then leg it through the boobytrapped gully throwing the odd napalm.

Mostly just with napalm and proximity bombs if there's no fuel cans close by.
One thing I found quite ridiculous how they made the freakers is how they are so stupid they run straight in to fire, yet somehow smart enough to realize they can climb up things.

I am surprised you did not include the Nero exploit. Leave one speaker attached, start the genny and walk your bike up the tent with legs of steel. When done shoot that last speaker and grab the injector. Two birds with one stone.

That is a good Idea, as the hordes scare the hell out of a lot of people. Would of been nice for Bend Studio to incorporate something like that.
@fariegost if you fail the horde 3 times in a row on the easiest setting you get the option to skip, same as when you have to chase someone on your bike, just let it fail 3 times and skip, no shame in it.

Taking on the Sawmill Horde, you usually see a few flying freakers mate (very funny when it happens). Best of luck, and hope you have fun with the methods DMB.
I have a PS4 my step dad was given that I've never connected to the internet.... every now and then I play DG the way it was released, and you can get in through the windows of the other building (by the white gas tank) and if you drop in through the one nearest said tank, you land on a machine that the horde cannot get to you from...
I'm sure they added boards to the main building; I know I shot explosive arrows from the roof opposite (with the now-boarded up windows), though not 100% sure if it was through the cracks that are still there or a proper gap; will need to fire up and have a look.
Lol, nice that you have the original setup. A lot of areas have been patched by Bend Studio, which you won't have on yours, so very nice indeed.

I just used a slightly modified method 1 of yours. I first let the horde to kill Two Dogs for me, and then I quietly climbed to that wooden trap you mentioned. And, either I don’t like to listen to your advice or I lack what you called “common sense”, I still used a few frag gernades just for the hell of it, lol. 😂

Or you could go to the Nero station with your bike by boosting on the cliff behind the Nero place and then after landing in the site climb up the tent with your bike and they can’t reach you after that

I seen a old sawmill glitch, was of going in water and having the horde drown. Have you seen that one.
I most certainly have mate, but Bend Studio patched the area where the youtuber was in the water but was not drowning, like what is supposed to happen. I would have added this to my video on the Sawmill Horde that comes out later this year, but this method just doesn't work anymore FW.
im playing pc and they can get on the wood trap, driving up the rock works but the hordes need a lot more coaxing on this version .. im probably gonna try your tunnel version .. ive been killed about 20 times on the wood trap so far
Interesting to know about the wood traps. The big rock climb at the top of the hill is still the safest way in my opinion.

Hey bro. Love your methods. They’ve helped me killed pretty much all the horses. Quick question tho. What gun is in your special weapon slot in the wood trap method?
That would be the MG55 my friend, and it's the top spec one you unlock when you take out 60% of the hordes in Days Gone (about 24 hordes). If you take out all the hordes in the North before heading South, you will get your hands on this one quite quickly, and because it's awarded to you, you don't have to grind to get to a specific trust level for any region. Some really good weapons are obtained by taking out the hordes when you have the chance.

Ah, number 3 is all about the placement on the ledge. Get that right, and they never come near you. Number 2 is still my favorite method, but they all have their merits.

i don't think i ever struggled with any horde, not even during my very first play trough. I did die one time at my first attempt at the sawmill, but that was totally my mistake cause i run in a dead end/no way out situation.
If you have the right weapons and throwables and are comfortable with hordes, you'll never struggle.

Hey man.I completed the sawmill horde early on in the game so is it going to respawn in the end game or is the notification going to pop up as completed?
The horde won't respawn mate, but, when you get the mission come up that requires you to take out this horde, you head to the sawmill & the game then goes to the cutscene you would see after killing them all.
A few questions. When do I get my hands on napalm cocktails? I ask as I’m still confined to the Molotov variety. Secondly, I cleared Sherman’s camp of zombies and now I can’t find the hoard. I’m guessing once you destroy all the nests the hoard disappears.
Ok, the napalm molatovs are unlocked quite late in the game, but you will unlock them before getting to the mission that asks you to take out the Sawmill horde. Now the Sherman's camp horde only unlocks once you complete the nero mission when you take Boozer with you. It has nothing to do with the nests. Hope this lot helps Jonathan.

bro i finally have plat on days gone. I dont know what game to buy now everything just doesnt hit the same. I dont want another zombie game because i doubt i will like it as much, and others just dont seem interesting. I prefer open world games so i looked into games like Spiderman (2018), AC Rogue, Unity, Watch dogs 2, Dying light 2. But nothing hits the same. I just cant find another game to play after Days Gone that i think will enjoy as much
I've got to admit mate, I have the same problem. I'm waiting for Dead Island 2 when it comes out at the end of April. But as for a game to replace Days Gone, I'm honestly struggling to suggest one. Maybe Horizon Forbidden West, but even that one doesn't seem to have the same level of open play as Days Gone does.

I totally agree mate. Being a running & gunning horde killer is the way I like to take them out. But this video is mainly for people who are struggling with this horde, and there are many that do, due to the size of it. Appreciate you watching the video mate.

I done the 2 method so easy and two breakers. But mission completed didn’t come up. Been back twice to get ammo.no one around.weird.
The sawmill horde is one of the last main Days Gone story missions, so if you take on this horde before you are asked to (and most people do this, myself included), you will get nothing to say you have taken out this horde. Near the end of the game, when you are asked to go to the Sawmill, when you get there, the game will go straight to a cut scene when you try to enter the sawmill. Hope this helps Leslie.

First time I tried a livestream, RUclips wouldn't allow me to do one for 24 hours which sucked as quite a number of people were waiting to watch. @@BYAN07 If you've defeated the Sawmill Horde, the only way to possibly take them on again is to reset the hordes after you have completed the Days Gone game. Until then, that's it ZZ.
A lot of things confusing me like the 2nd option. When i play, the second part of the hord is not appear . It frustrates me
The second part of this horde will only appear if you move Deek to the part of the rock where they actually see you. If you don't do this, you will need to come off the rock position with the bike, and head over to get the rest of the horde's attention, and then it's repeat the actions of taking out the first half.

Have they patched the wood pile one? (The first one you show). They patched a few challenge climbs, sadly. (Yes, you have to get back down for ammo, but it's nice to take a breather sometimes... even if the point is to run, ha ha.)
I assure you LC, they haven't patched the wood pile method. On the console, Bend Studio haven't touched this game in over a year. Can't speak for the PC version though, and some of the rock climb areas on the console sometimes don't work on the PC as they seem to be mapped slightly differently.

@@bentravis99 The gameplay is pretty solid on the PC Ben. The conversion over to the PC was a very good one. I have a middle range PC rig, and it plays pretty good. On a high end one, I would expect the game to run awesome. If it's on sale, go for it mate.

Cant use the first one really every time somebody is getting up there and attacking me
The first method is all about getting the correct position on the wood pile, but, it's also about the setup at the start. You always need to be heading over to this wood pile from where I show. If you head there via the rooftops, you will get problems.
The ledge method doesn't seem to work for me. The horde jumped on top and attacked me.
The trick to that one Kris, is making sure you are standing on the right spot. You need to be right on the corner of the ledge for that one to work.
This method is so scary if you don’t kill them fast enough they ca buildup and swarm you still 😭
It's really pick your poison for this selection mate. There is something that everyone is happy with. Hope you enjoyed trying them out.
I tried number 2. Killed a lot, then the music stopped. None showed up on survival vision. Went back into the mill to get resources and saw a huge chunk of horde was going back inside. I lead that bunch to the train tunnel and finished them off, went back and there was still a huge number left?
Ok, it is a 500 strong horde, so this is possible mate.
I did this horde but wasnt be triggered as done in progress any idea? (maybe bug?) i dont have it in progress :/
You get no conformation of taking out this horde if you take them out early in the game. Only reason I get a notification on screen, is because I've already completed the game, and then reset all the hordes. Only then do you get conformation on screen when you take them out like I do in this video. Hope this helps mate.
