  • Andrew Linhart is a senior at Brown Residential College. Originally from Houston, Texas, Andrew is pursuing a major in mechanical engineering on the pre-law track. He says his wardrobe has gradually shifted to primarily blue and gray over the years, a nod to his affinity for Rice University. From a young age, Andrew's connection to Rice grew through his participation in basketball and STEM camps hosted by the university. Drawn to the rigorous academic environment balanced by a fun and collaborative community, Andrew always knew Rice was his destined college.
Eager to share his love for the university, Andrew became a tour guide, a role he had aspired to since his memorable campus tour. He delights in introducing new students to Rice's unique residential college system and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Beyond his academic and extracurricular commitments, Andrew harbors a passion for music. Although he doesn't play an instrument and prefers choir, he closely identifies with the spirit of the university's marching band, the Marching Owl Band, better known as the MOB, known for their entertaining performances. His family, sharing his enthusiasm, even participated in the MOB this football season.
One of Andrew's most ambitious projects has been constructing a full-scale Lego model of Rice University. The map garnered widespread support from the university community, including Admissions, Public Affairs, and the Student Association. This project, fueled by Andrew's imagination and the collaborative spirit of Rice, is an example of students engaging with their passions. Andrew's journey at Rice, marked by personal growth, community involvement, and creative pursuits, reflects the transformative experience the university offers to those who embrace its values.
