Sleep Token will challenge your dedication to your preferences. If you draw a hard line on what you like and what you don't, they're gonna have misses for you. But if you're the type of person that embraces all genres and forms of music, they can't miss.

I think that might be why I like them so much. My favorite band is My Morning Jacket and one of the biggest reasons I’ve always loved them is that they don’t like to be pigeon-holed (more so with their first few albums).
Also the synth in Chokehold is almost the exact same in a MMJ song called Victory Dance. Worth a listen.

Vessel has done brief screams in a song or two and did some in gods but this is the first time he's used good technique proper harsh vocals
I feel like it’s the result of some crazy bet that they couldn’t pull off funk with metal lol
More than likely what happened is Vessel got some screaming tips from Sam Carter when they were on tour together and finally found his range with those. You can tell he always wanted to but had way more experience in his melodic clean singing. But now with some help as well as what is clearly a newfound confidence he’s really growing into it. Also… listen to it one or two more times and the changes will make a lot more sense. They’re really not that jarring. It’s dynamic songwriting
I disagree. Vessel always had great screams (see Gods, Higher or Hypnosis, especially live) and has a very different style of screaming compared to Sam. Much more vocal cord engagement and higher screams.

i reckon the mixing on the previous records has a lot to do with it. He’s always had screams in his locker
@@luciflaire8935 just because he always could doesnt mean he couldnt have gotten some tips or asked for help from someone who is very familair with other techniques etc.
I feel like while vessel always was able to do some pretty damn good ones, he never really was taught properly. So maybe in a way to save his vocal cords by doing improper screams he could have asked for some advice.

I actually didn't think I liked this song for most of it the first time I listened to it bc yeah, the switches felt rly chaotic for me personally? and it was the first Sleep Token I had ever listened to all the way thru too. then the funk breakdown at the end LITERALLY rewired my brain. this song has skyrocketed to the top 10 of my favourite songs ever.
that funk breakdown was a bold choice, and RISKY too bc the opinions I've seen of it are polarizing, but I think it was the smartest choice bc if they came back with a typical metalcore breakdown, it would NOT be so impactful or memorable
Also they have art of this figure on their website and I am PRAYING for a t-shirt with that art or something it looks so sick 😭
I had the same reaction when I first listened to this, but after listening a few more times, it has become one of my favorites. I’m not sure how much Sleep Token you’ve listened to outside of reactions, but if you’re open to listening to their older stuff, I’d recommend the following as they’re heavier : Gods, Jaws, High Water, Higher, The Offering.
They are something else, it seems like metalheads kinda love them, I personally adore them and can't wait to see them live next week in Berlin

Also Gods is another song I love where Vessel screams a lot, you should listen to it. Even their older albums are so so good.

They've become a completely new band and I'm ALL for it!
Im old starset fan and due to that I prefer bands who take risks with newer style than doing the same ''good'' like forever.
The characters are bosses from Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
I didn't think too much of this song upon first listen. Now it's my favourite ST song. The screams remind me of Devin Townsend and Strapping Young Lad.
iv helps Vessel out with the screams live (if you watch this and Vore live, youll see) - the guitarist comes from a lineage of screaming type bands.
Vessel's musical history is more the Damien Rice Bon Ivor type singer aongwriter stuff.

This song is a fucking jam, by far their best song ever but, honestly it should have ended after the second breakdown.

The transition seem jarring because they aren’t the standard. They almost bait you. Instead of the solo you think they’re going go even harder.
These musical jukes are a sleep token staple. They don’t do what you expect most of the time.

Personally I’m not really a fan of vessel’s voice, and I’m not really a fan of their music but this one is ok, although I don’t really care for the complete switch ups in the song

i have the DT 770 Pro's they sound so good in them with bass turned up in my amp
Yeeee I tried basically every headphone on the market last week lol, the audio technica’s had better natural bass boost, but we’re uncomfortable as hell 😂 these ones are a little big on the ear (looks wise) but perfect other then that, could use more bass but at the same time sounds really nice the way it is
just man up.
