It's videos like these that present such a huge difference between Kane Pixel's universe and the Backrooms Wikis universe. While the Backrooms Wiki just adds whatever the fuck it wants to the Backrooms, thinking that it'll be more scarier/stranger when it isn't, Kane does his own take and focuses more on the fear of the unknown and isolation that one may feel when placed inside such an alien area.
I honestly don’t think that thinks like the wiki fandom version are trying to add things to make it more scarier, I think it’s like Yume Nikki or Yume 2kki where people just get to spread there cool ideas, like how some people may say Yume Nikki is a little scary at some parts, overall it’s just to be a cool place where people can kind of build their own mini worlds and ideas that closely relate to the original

I Personally find both Kane's backrooms videos and ones not made by Kane to be entertaining in their own rights. As long as they have an interesting plot, are funny, or genuinely instill the feeling of fear in me. I agree with Kane's point on the entities with smiley faces though. Also I'm pretty sure the 2 videos they reacted to were made ironically.
For the Smilers, I feel like if they eyes/mouths Flickered, as if it was like TV static it would make them creepier. But I agree the PNG image chasing you, it's the same as Garry's Mod PNG monsters. Just not that chilling. Now, add a small body, but a REALLY long neck to those things? I feel like THAT would be terrifying. We're talking Little Monsters 2 style. Kane has a good point about the Smilers. Too many times we put a smiling face on something and go “le scary”. It’s not the smile that’s scary, it’s the face. If you’re in the Backrooms and you look in a shadowy corner, and you see anything resembling a human face, you’re going to shit yourself in terror. Seeing something shrouded in darkness is terrifying due to our evolution, and part of what makes the Backrooms is great in the same thing that makes Alien good: it gives a feeling of being watched and hunted. You are the prey. So the terror shouldn’t be in the “smiley face=scary” bullshit, it needs to be unexpected. Your POV is looking around the rooms, and turns around just in time to catch a glimpse of a Smiler in the corner. That’s fucking scary, not whatever that video was.
Personally for me, the smilers or that weird smiling-face SCP were never scary, and I'm someone who is deeply offput by such things. What's scary is having a big smiling grin on a face that clearly can't support the strain. The malice and lust behind a toothy grin like that is what's scary, not the smile itself.

I actually like these videos. I take it that they are just trying to portray their animation skills in a fun unique way. Kane did not invent the Backrooms. The hazmat suits may have been inspired by him but pretty much everything else is its own thing, and it's pretty neat.

There is definitely *something* to the "creepy smile" type monsters. It implies that the enemy actively enjoys inflicting harm and an utter lack of restraint. Also, going off Kane, it does show a an uncanny contrast, since nothing *should* enjoy killing, for example. *THAT SAID...* It's 100% been overplayed. Its the price you have to pay for great art; everything new is built on the concepts of the old, in that even Kane's original video was inspired and influenced by the fandom, who in turn were inspired by a photo and built on pre-existing concepts like spooky pasta, other fan bases like SCP, etc. As a result of this many will be inspired by Kane's work to make thier own content which will have the following consequences: First, there will be _a_ _lot_ derivative videos, like the slides videos, or the constant retreading of the first level. Secondly, however, is the good bit, a few artists will add to the original idea and will eventually come up with great, on par or better than Kane's original. Its how the process ultimately works. Very rare is an original idea. On a side note, all these crappy slide videos are pretty enjoyable, usually intentionally funny. I do like This is Frank though, it's quite a wild ride
I think what makes smilers creepy to some people is that they're UNATURALLY smiling. Theres an aura about it, that makes it creepy. Also, primal instincts. We're meant to fear things in the dark. Would be more effective though if it wasn't a PNG.

After watching Kane's opinions on smilers. I'd agree they are kinda boring at this point. The problem is that concept of a Smiley face staring at you from the darkness is so overused that you would atleast need to add a bit more to make it interesting. Not only that but from what I've seen "Mostly". The smiler is literally just a PNG image that chases you. There's no like face moving like Imagine it seeing you without a smile yet and you can only see its two eyes and then a large grin comes into view then starts chasing you. That would be better. Now I know that the Smiler's body is suppose to be unseen which does sound a bit interesting like a creature where you are unable to see its body and only its face. But here's the problem. The face is only a PNG image so you don't see like turning its head left or right. There is no indication of it having a body. Like why not put like very large humongous sounding footsteps when it chases you. It will give the impression that you are being chased by a giant creature. Also it says that its body is unseen becuase its in the dark. And from what I have "mostly" seen why is it still just a face in the light? There's a roblox backrooms game called Apeirophobia and I'd say the execution of a Smiler is definitely better in that one. As for something like a partygoer. I'd say its a lot better than Smilers. Because while having the same thing, a constant smile. There's more than just a smile. Its suppose to have hands that are like leech mouths which is cool. And they are known to be very dangerous and intelligent and luring victims to their doom. And while the original Partygoer was like some kind of Teletubby creature. I'd say I've seen some really interesting redesign of it where its more a very tall humanoid figure which honestly works a bit better. Not only that but I'd say the smile is executed a bit better. So while it is almost the same as Smilers having a constant smile. Its different because the smile they display is like a fake smile its like they never had faces in the first place and like got a knife and carved out their smiley faces from their head. I do think they could use a bit more things but I think they are atleast Ok.
I've said before and I'll say it again, Kane is the only guy I find is making anything decent with the Backrooms, because everything else done with them feels like a group project from middle schoolers obsessed with FNAF. Smiley faces? really???
Nah, Kane is above everyone else, but there is also one or two other guys trying to do similar stuff. In particular there is this one guy who makes very good and creepy "water level" backroom footage. You should check his work, I think his channel is Jared Pike. There are other people with a bit less quality on the "graphics" but who still do good renditions too. The stuff we see on this specific video is just some shitpost, not to be taken seriously.
Why do people act like there's some kind of extensive canon for this stuff. The only canon thing about the backrooms is the original /x/ post, everything else is a branch off of that or off the other creations. Aside from the original, It's all just fanfiction. "But muh Asynch" or "muh smilers", don't care, don't want to know about it (though, I do like Kane Pixels' videos), they're all just fan works.
I'm really glad Kane is agreeing with everyone on how ridiculous the backrooms videos have become, as a real artist I think he can appreciate what makes something worth watching. The way the yellow suit explorers are behaving makes no sense, and especially the fact that after hundreds of them have died, they are still wandering around, completely alone, with no weapons except a shakey VHS camera. You have to be able to turn off your brain to enjoy it after a while.

I take it that they are just trying to portray their animation skills in a fun unique way. Kane did not invent the Backrooms. The hazmat suits may have been inspired by him but pretty much everything else is its own thing, and it's pretty neat.

The reason why so many people are shitting on the Backrooms' Wiki is because a lot of the levels and monsters are not scary at all and are written by actual children.

Its the price you have to pay for great art; everything new is built on the concepts of the old, in that even Kane's original video was inspired and influenced by the fandom, who in turn were inspired by a photo and built on pre-existing concepts like spooky pasta, other fan bases like SCP, etc.
As a result of this many will be inspired by Kane's work to make thier own content which will have the following consequences: First, there will be _a_ _lot_ derivative videos, like the slides videos, or the constant retreading of the first level.
Secondly, however, is the good bit, a few artists will add to the original idea and will eventually come up with great, on par or better than Kane's original.
Its how the process ultimately works. Very rare is an original idea.
On a side note, all these crappy slide videos are pretty enjoyable, usually intentionally funny. I do like This is Frank though, it's quite a wild ride

I think what makes smilers creepy to some people is that they're UNATURALLY smiling. Theres an aura about it, that makes it creepy. Also, primal instincts. We're meant to fear things in the dark. Would be more effective though if it wasn't a PNG.

After watching Kane's opinions on smilers. I'd agree they are kinda boring at this point. The problem is that concept of a Smiley face staring at you from the darkness is so overused that you would atleast need to add a bit more to make it interesting. Not only that but from what I've seen "Mostly". The smiler is literally just a PNG image that chases you. There's no like face moving like Imagine it seeing you without a smile yet and you can only see its two eyes and then a large grin comes into view then starts chasing you. That would be better. Now I know that the Smiler's body is suppose to be unseen which does sound a bit interesting like a creature where you are unable to see its body and only its face. But here's the problem. The face is only a PNG image so you don't see like turning its head left or right. There is no indication of it having a body. Like why not put like very large humongous sounding footsteps when it chases you. It will give the impression that you are being chased by a giant creature. Also it says that its body is unseen becuase its in the dark. And from what I have "mostly" seen why is it still just a face in the light? There's a roblox backrooms game called Apeirophobia and I'd say the execution of a Smiler is definitely better in that one.
As for something like a partygoer. I'd say its a lot better than Smilers. Because while having the same thing, a constant smile. There's more than just a smile. Its suppose to have hands that are like leech mouths which is cool. And they are known to be very dangerous and intelligent and luring victims to their doom. And while the original Partygoer was like some kind of Teletubby creature. I'd say I've seen some really interesting redesign of it where its more a very tall humanoid figure which honestly works a bit better. Not only that but I'd say the smile is executed a bit better. So while it is almost the same as Smilers having a constant smile. Its different because the smile they display is like a fake smile its like they never had faces in the first place and like got a knife and carved out their smiley faces from their head. I do think they could use a bit more things but I think they are atleast Ok.

Nah, Kane is above everyone else, but there is also one or two other guys trying to do similar stuff. In particular there is this one guy who makes very good and creepy "water level" backroom footage. You should check his work, I think his channel is Jared Pike. There are other people with a bit less quality on the "graphics" but who still do good renditions too. The stuff we see on this specific video is just some shitpost, not to be taken seriously.
Why do people act like there's some kind of extensive canon for this stuff. The only canon thing about the backrooms is the original /x/ post, everything else is a branch off of that or off the other creations. Aside from the original, It's all just fanfiction.
"But muh Asynch" or "muh smilers", don't care, don't want to know about it (though, I do like Kane Pixels' videos), they're all just fan works.

I'm really glad Kane is agreeing with everyone on how ridiculous the backrooms videos have become, as a real artist I think he can appreciate what makes something worth watching. The way the yellow suit explorers are behaving makes no sense, and especially the fact that after hundreds of them have died, they are still wandering around, completely alone, with no weapons except a shakey VHS camera. You have to be able to turn off your brain to enjoy it after a while.
