    Very elegant and thorough diagnostic process. Without a scan tool I would have measured the resistance of all glow plugs and hope that that's where the defect is. Having the proper tools makes the job so much easier.

    Perceived long crank on 6.0 = stiction. Glow plugs on direct inject engines is more for emissions than hard starting

    Bought a new converter, bank 1 lambda sensor and bank2 lambda sensor. But the failure came back, after short time?

    Did this actually make a difference in cranking time? It's hard to believe that just one bad glow plug would make a noticeable difference in mild weather.

      It was the perception of an extended cranking time I drew my attention. As I said in the beginning, it might just be my imagination or might be a clue. In this case, it was a clue.

    I think it's not "healthy" to use an ohmeter with the batterie connected.. you can dammage the ohmeter or it can gives you wrong readings.. unless you know what you are doing

      Valid point. My tests were on an open circuit but I should have stressed that point for those new to testing with their ohmmeter. Sometimes it's hard to remember to say something about things experienced techs take for granted.
