Thank you for showing your process. This looks like the most efficient way to create swatches. I definitely like being able to shuffle the swatches around to make comparisons. It would also help in picking colors for a particular color scheme. I always enjoy your watercolor videos.
I also switched from making my main swatches in a sketchbook to separate pieces, and I'm glad I did. I've started to use colors I'd forgotten about and mixing unusual colors together because I can play with the cards to mix and match so am more intentional in creating my limited palettes, instead of just picking up what's available in my palette. Thanks for sharing your process!!
I watched one video of yours and thought it was high quality - little did I know, all of your videos are amazing and I’m shocked you don’t have more viewers. Your videos have been so informative for me as a watercolor artist as to which products to buy, so thank you so much for continuing to make these wonderful videos. Keep it up!!
Thank you for taking the time & effort to show your process. I've found over time having Swatches on individual Cards makes for easiest comparisons as well as I sometime use them to layout Color Combination considerations. This helps give a General Overview & helps with decision making.
@teohyc I have been looking for the best way to swatch watercolors and I was so excited to come across this video! Thank you for sharing this! This is a great way to swatch and also, will help putting together a palette once all the colors are swatched and cut! I can’t wait to use your method!!! Very creative too!!!
Thanks Teoh. Great way to compare brands against brand. Now I'll have to do my swatches over. Very tedious but very much more convenient once it's done.👍
Thank you so much for posting this video. I wasn’t sure what I actually wanted on my swatch and this video has helped a lot. Just swatched the first twelve of my DS paints and actually enjoyed doing them. Now to do the rest…
Here in north america Office Supply stores have guillotine paper cutters available to use free -near the copy machines. You might cut your swatches apart that way if they have that in Singapore. Neat and fast. :)
i started buying and using more watercolours in 2020/21, and a few months ago i also started a swatch binder bc i saw denise at in liquid color do it and my god its my favourite thing ever. to have a whole binder where you can just look at all the colors you have and compare brands and pigments, its so incredibly fun! i personally love having it in a layout that's sorted by color/pigment, not by brand, so i can easily see which colors i already have. i think the pigment i got most of all is a pg7😅 idk, seems like every brands puts one in every set lmao. i mean, makes sense, but still interesting🤔
Those swatches are soooooo satisfying. Might I suggest updating the title of this video to something along the lines of How I Swatch, or How to Make a Master Swatch Guide? I think it'd be very beneficial in helping new painters or people that haven't had the joy of finding your channel yet to see this very informative and beginner friendly guide. Happy holidays to you and your family Teoh ^^ Thanks as always for the great content
Teoh, I have just discovered your videos. I really enjoy them very organized and detail oriented. I have painted in the past, but it has been awhile. I am looking to buy some new tube paints. I have some Windsor newton professional quality but they are old. I don’t know if they would be any good. I recently purchased a few Windsor Newton Cotman paints. I am on a limited budget. Any suggestions for paint would be appreciated. Also, I have an art table. What is the best height and angle to set it up? Thankyou
Very well explained and very helpful. 👍😁 I'd suggest scanning and cataloging them digitally as well. You've mentioned Rhodia in a couple of your videos in recent months. I recently got for myself as Xmas presents their Reverse Notebook, their A5 side staple bound notebook, and their reporter's format notebook. Also got a bulk four pack of flexible landscape clipboards for a durable surface for on location sketching. Hope you're having good holidays 🎄 and also best wishes to you and your family and friends for a happy new year. 🎉

I've been using color swatches in books as well and I like this idea. I'll try to make this up too, it seems more helpful and portable
Thank you! Your videos are always so clear especially for a budding watercolour enthusiatist such as myself. I love these templates!

I can't wait to do this. My palette went from very minimal to a bit more than I can keep track of. Thank you for the tips!

So helpful! Makes sense to use a template. Thankyou!
Love your template idea - very clever and useful. That DS Piemonite looks very interesting. I love Lunar Red Rock by DS as well.
Woo woo...great advice! Thanks.
Excellent video, exactly what I was looking for. Very helpful. Thanks.

Old paint should still work unless they have harden. You can add water to soften, or glycerin
Nice system :) Have you ever used any of the stamps designed for the same purpose? I really like the ease of that system too
Stamps?
Swatch Stamp Set made by Waffle Flowers available at Amazon USA or Etsy. The Frugal Crafter on RUclips uses these stamps for her swatches
can you try huawei MatePad Pro with M-Pencil, Test writeing, painting, please :)please:) please:)and It's so great for vlog too:)
Thank you so much! Great video. How/where do you store these?
In my drawer. But it's best to store them in air tight container

How do you store or catalogue the swatches? Great video!
I just put them in a plastic shelf/container
I use a ring hound business card file folder so I can reorganise and move my swatches around 😊
How do you store these lovely sample cards for maximum use?
I just keep them in a closed shelf
@@teohyc thanks
Good morning Teoh....I remember you have color chart for primary colors only.....can you please share it again? Thanks.
I can't remember. Maybe you can find it at www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/color16.html
@@teohyc Thanks a lot. I found it: ruclips.net/video/DeRa9IVY63U/видео.html
I’m gonna make but What paper should I use? Hot press or cold press?
Coldpress is more suitable
@@teohyc thank you, you're the best.
How does the Fabriano 100% cotton paper match against the Arches?
Buy some Arches and Fabriano paper, paint on them. Finally decide yourself.......
Arches has a more “sandy” surface compared to Fabriano for coldpress paper
Can anyone please tell me a reliable brand of mechanical pencil? Thank you.
Pilot

You just need a good selection of primary colours for mixing. All other colours are convenient colours
