just throwing this out there: vast majority of calvinists are infralapsarian. i don't know any theologians that are superlapsarian. i feel like that theology just exists for the sake of existing. For those who might want more on this: Romans 1 says that God gave them up to a debased mind. God "giving up" means that He's just letting them be. In other words, God's common grace is being lifted from them. God's common grace is the reason why humans aren't as evil as they can be. When God's common grace is lifted, then people become evil as they can be because it's where their sinful totally depraved minds are already at. So when God "hardened" pharaoh's heart, he wasn't necessarily making Pharaoh "more" evil than he already was. But simply that God's common grace was being lifted from Pharaoh so that Pharoah would act in the sinful-debased-depraved way that his sinful nature led him.

0:58 As an Annihilationist myself, I do believe in the existence of hell as a place of punishment, but that the punishment is not eternal conscious torment but annihilation. Not all Annihilationists deny the existence of such place and believe that hell is merely a state of condition/being.
Hell is totally an eternal punishment. It's eternal separation from God, that's all what Hell is. This 'annhiliation' doctrine is making hell seem like not a bad punishment, but oh boy, it is an awful and horrible punishment. Revelation 14:9-11 KJV: "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." Hell is also described as an eternal/everlasting fire, or an unquenable fire. It is described as ETERNAL punishment. Matthew 25:41 KJV: "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:" Matthew 3:12 KJV: "whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." Mark 9:44 KJV: "where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." 2 Thessalonians 1:9 KJV: "who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;" Matthew 25:46 KJV: "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." Revelation 20:10 KJV: "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Nowhere does the bible speak of annihilation in Hell, that's made up.

@@theintelligentmilkjug944 Is does mean is! If it were a mere symbol, people wouldn't have become sick and die for taking it in an unworthy manner, eating and drinking judgment upon themselves. See 1 Corinthians 11:27-30.
Is it relevant if it's symbolic or not? I mean...if the presence of Christ is in the sacrament it's a miracle we cannot prove and take by faith. But we take communion in a manner worthy of Christ. And if it's symbolic we still take it in a manner worthy of Christ. In remembrance of His blood and body broken for us. Maybe I'm ignorant but I don't see the argument between the two positions.
@@zacharybaker695 If it is symbolic, then the meal is only in remembrance of Christ and the forgiveness of sins He won. If it is real, then the meal truly has Christ present and the meal itself truly offers the forgiveness of sins. Whether or not the Lord's Supper does anything alone is an important concept. To a Sacramentalist like myself, it would be argued not observing Christ's body and blood in the Supper is a form of sinning against the Lord; the other obvious way of sinning against it would be not recognizing your sin and need of a Savior when taking it. If understanding / taking the Supper incorrectly is a possible sin, then it very much is relevant. Luther and Zwingli basically agreed on everything except the Lord's Supper - and they saw that as crucial enough to not join fellowship.
Me, a former Baptist who's always believed that predestination is stupid even after leaving the faith. Accepting or rejecting anything at all is my decision to make and not ever God's. And I'm not saying God is incapable of predestination just that he never predestined it. He didn't predestine anything. He just knows who's saved or not because he's omniscient. Granted, I am in a bit of a predicament since the church I grew up in didn't believe salvation could be lost so I guess I'm now damned to eternal salvation. Ah well.

I need to use that Armenian/Arminian joke more often. Predestination debates can get pretty heated so it might be a good way to lighten the mood and remember that we are all Christians, just with different viewpoints on this one issue.
I like how you had the Nicene Creed included in the "agree on" section 0:32 It's straight up throwing shade on most non-denominational and baptists who are anti-creed
To be fair most catholics and protestants don't follow the Nicene Creed. They follow the Gothic-Arianist Creed thanks to that handy dandy Filiouque that was never agreed upon at an Ecumenical Council.
@@TW-fs3fjI canʼt talk for the protestants, but the Catholic Church uses the Creed. How dare you call us Arians? Itʼs the Greeks who refuse to update their outdated theology. Credo in Spiritum Sanctum Dominum et vivificantem Qui ex Patre Filioque procedit Qui cum Patre et Filio simul adoratur et conglorificatur qui locutus est per prophetas
@@deutschermichel5807 I said you follow the Gothic Arian Creed. Not that you're Arianists. The Goths took full control over the western Church by 500AD. The Filioque was added because pagan Spaniards couldn't comprehend why the Son and Holy Spirit came from God. It was not agreed upon at any council, and any documents defending papism at the time were forgeries. Plus Peter had two disciples, the original being from where our forefathers were first called Christians. Your historians acknowledge these facts, in fact iirc the Eastern Papists don't even follow that creed. Wake up
@@TW-fs3fj what are you talking? The Goths didnʼt take control over the Westeen Church in 500. And the filioque was officially added half a millenium afterwards, when the Goths have been long extinct. Also you donʼt even seem to understand the Holy Trinity: Pater, Filius et Spiritus Sanctus Deus sunt. Pater non est Filius, Filius non est Spiritus, Spiritus non est Pater. So when you say we wouldnʼt understand the procession of the Holy Spirit, YOU are the one not understanding. In the Nicaean Creed, it says: “ex Patre Filioque procedit”. The Holy Spirit IS God, jsut as the Father and the Son are. Spiritus in Latin doesnʼt only mean ghost, but also breath. So the Holy Spirit really is the Breath of God, his divine Sigh of joy which inspires his creation for the better. So when the Holy Trinity has been around for ever, as God is eternal, you see: The Son is eternally born of the Father and they “see” themselves and “look” at each other, recognizing themselves as one and figuratively Sigh of love. Imagine you would look into the mirror and see a person. Whom do you see? Yourself, or rather a perfect counterpart. Many people with healthy hearts and souls recognize themselves in the mirror and realize “Yes, this is me”. This joyful feeling, this relief can be compared to the Holy Spirit, when God “sees” himself.
Everyone has a creed (I believe) including non-credal baptists. The question is whether your “I believe” is written down and testable or ad hoc and untestable

I love the icons that you have been using! Also, I would like to throw in "ecumenicalism", or the belief that Nicene Christians should all work to find common ground with each other. Also, I forgot the term, but my club's minister has mentioned an argument that, since the Bible is the word of God, it supersedes all other works and therefore does not require evidence for its truth.
The latter part of your comment sounds like an enormous argument in circular logic - "the Bible is infallible because it's the word of God, and the Bible is the word of God because it says so and it's infallible..."

0:00 "Theology people like to use big fancy words for things, but the things these words mean is pretty simple" That seems to be true of a LOT of fields of study. Business, linguistics, sports, chess, and almost every other one. Perhaps you could say that math and science use complicated terms to describe complicated things, but they seem to be the exception. Whenever you are confused by a field's complicated words, just remember: you're not stupid, you're just a beginner, and those two aren't the same. A good third of the reason people use these words is to feel superior in one way or another. Notice when people use fancy words to sound smart, and just remember it's the conversational equivalent of driving a lifted truck.

Interesting. There aren't too many Calvinistic continuationists around, most charismatics are Arminian (that or they've never even considered Soteriology) and most Calvinists are cessationists (I happen to fit into that category.) Having said that, I think I've got much more in common with you than with an Arminian cessationist in terms of theology.
@richbandicoot you know, cessationists don't claim that God doesn't work miracles, even miraculous healing today. We certainly do say that God is free to exercise His power over creation in any way He sees fit, and does sometimes, perhaps even often, choose to do so in ways that transcend the natural order with miracles. What we deny, however, is that in this post apostolic age, that God has given power to individuals to wield to do miracles in that way. Sure, a church or a fellow Christian may pray for healing, but he or she cannot exercise the divine right of healing as the apostles did in their day. It's not that healing miracles have ceased, it's the gift of healing that has ceased.
@richbandicoot glad I could help. Someone I highly recommended when it comes to biblical teaching on gifts especially, but also just good biblical teaching is Justin Peters. God bless

Romans 1 says that God gave them up to a debased mind. You know, I think it'd be a neat idea if you had a website where someone could read up on all this and select which "blocks" suit them best, ultimately coming out into a unique pattern. Though maybe it would end up as a vanity, as some would have nicer patterns than others, but ideally it should be like a political compass chart.
That definitely sounds like a cool idea.
Absolutely!
you could collect the data and show it as a survey, to show what percent of Christians who built their blocks believe in what
Exactly, while still maintaining the unity of the brethren
Seems to me like a build in a video game. Which I'm entirely good with.
As a trinitarian monotheist, amyraldian, infralapsarian, dispensationalist, premillennial, cessationist, credo Baptist, reformed memorialist, classical apologist, complementarian, iconoclast, new light, Biblicist Christian, I loved this video!
This concept seems absurdly impossible, but if anyone can do it, it's you. Looking forward to it.
This is like one of those Bingo Card memes, with "Christ is Lord" as the free space in the middle.
Yes, lol.
Dude, as a seminary grad (this year!), I am super impressed with this video and with you as a person. Well done, young man! Keep up the good work!
I was literally looking for something like this only yesterday. This came at a perfect time.
This has got to be to be the best Christian educational youtube channel, I have learnt so much from the videos, they're witty, funny and packed full of information.
I also like the kingdom craft videos. Excellent Minecraft structures, but also the the elaboration on what you meant in the high information videos is really helpful.
Keep up the good work👍
ikr, he’s turning me into a Reformed Christian and I haven’t even watched far enough to know what Reformed Christians even believe
While I agree that it is very educational, I do think that there is a bit of barrier to entry in terms of those who can watch, understand, and enjoy the majority of the connent on this channel. The short video style mixed with briefing over a large range of detailed concepts likely makes it very difficult to follow for someone who doesn't have a solid base in at least some of the major Christian theological ideas.
Agreed!
Wow great explanation of apologetics. I've been exposed to all 3 methods of apologetics but it's really helpful to actual categorize them. All 3 are great tools imo

I think it's important to bear in mind, this list is hardly comprehensive, but it is quite useful and covers a lot of bases. We appreciate quality work. 👍
0:58 As an Annihilationist myself, I do believe in the existence of hell as a place of punishment, but that the punishment is not eternal conscious torment but annihilation. Not all Annihilationists deny the existence of such place and believe that hell is merely a state of condition/being.
I’d probably rather be annihilated than go to hell ig
Hell is totally an eternal punishment. It's eternal separation from God, that's all what Hell is. This 'annhiliation' doctrine is making hell seem like not a bad punishment, but oh boy, it is an awful and horrible punishment.
Revelation 14:9-11 KJV:
"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: and the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
Hell is also described as an eternal/everlasting fire, or an unquenable fire. It is described as ETERNAL punishment.
Matthew 25:41 KJV:
"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"
Matthew 3:12 KJV:
"whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
Mark 9:44 KJV:
"where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
2 Thessalonians 1:9 KJV:
"who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;"
Matthew 25:46 KJV:
"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
Revelation 20:10 KJV:
"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
Nowhere does the bible speak of annihilation in Hell, that's made up.
@@crusherfire1I like your Roblox studio tutorials
I mean same for universalists, a large portion (probably the majority but I'm not 100% sure) believe in hell as a temporary corrective punishment that lasts until the person there converts to Christianity - a universalist who holds this view and hopes none of my family sees this comment lol

Thank you for this video. Been a Christian my whole life but just recently started really sorting out my positions on these things. Nice summery of the things I need to think about
Great job! I agree with your last point that we Christians should be far more willing to debate these things. Plus it forces us into more reading of the Bible, prayer, and study.
I am not a big fan of the principles and ideals behind this channel, but I really enjoy the explanations of the faith and theology behind it. I think its something that even a non-protestant/christian can find interest in.
Love your content man, keep it up!

This is an 8-min overview. I thought you hit the main points quite well, and again, I must commend you on just the flow and pacing of your writing. Seriously, it was pretty satisfying.
I was expectivg the word "ecclesiastical" which is longer than most of these.
This was really well done! Thank you for presenting a vast selection of theologies in an entertaining way without bashing any of them.
"See what theological positions you believe in and start building your theology"
Me, a Lutheran who throws himself into debates on the Sacraments and eschatology constantly: Oh believe me, I got that covered.
Does is mean is?
Ah well.
the watchability of these vids to the general yt audience is visibly increasing. good work.

Thank you for this. Still a baby christian and I hear these terms all the time but had no clue what they mean
That was pretty good bro. I like images and diagrams for understanding things, and as much as I've studied theology I don't always have as much clarity in comparing notions until after a ton of mental notes stick in my head.
I need to use that Armenian/Arminian joke more often. Predestination debates can get pretty heated so it might be a good way to lighten the mood and remember that we are all Christians, just with different viewpoints on this one issue.
Nice short overview of these theological terms. I was always confused and couldn't understand why was there so much emphasis.
Great video, I had no idea what most of these terms meant. Thanks
What a great, quality, and fair representation of each theological view mentioned in this video!

Good for you ✝
Wow what a video! Way to summarize just about everything of theological importance in like 10 minutes.
I like how you had the Nicene Creed included in the "agree on" section 0:32
It's straight up throwing shade on most non-denominational and baptists who are anti-creed
Credo in Spiritum Sanctum
Dominum et vivificantem
Qui ex Patre Filioque procedit
Qui cum Patre et Filio simul adoratur et conglorificatur qui locutus est per prophetas
Also you donʼt even seem to understand the Holy Trinity:
Pater, Filius et Spiritus Sanctus Deus sunt.
DUDE, thanks for this! i eventually fell down the denomination rabbithole a while ago, and was just like what the hell is even all of this. Ive got to say this is just great

I love this video. And this channel. Please keep making content like this. It seriously helps me understand other views within Christendom, and helps further shape my own.
@@Crime_Mime Yeah, I agree with you. The argument always seemed dumb to me due to how it presupposes the Bible as the true book, which any religion can do. There are much better apologetics.
I love how you removed at first in the video ALL works based salvation theories😂❤️ gotta love that
I have been between catholic and Protestant for some time now- grew up Catholic, converted to (nondenominational) Protestant… now I’m sorta in between cause I see issues yet strengths on both sides. But nonetheless, your vids really help me a lot. Thank you

I want to note, I myself am a Universalist.
There are 2 models of universalism
1) Everybody goes straight to heaven
2) Those not in Christ go to hell, and stay there until they slowly start accepting God, and accept God entirely and then go to heaven
So just a note. I hold model 2.
Can you tell me of any where in scripture (the bible) where it says we can get out of hell? I have read the bible for a long time and as far as I know hell is a final place, the outer darkness, the lake of fire, where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Purgatory is not biblical anywhere. Sorry I am not trying to irritate you but to sharpen you as Iron sharpens iron. Also the story of the rich man and lazarus seems to explain this also in the bible, you should read the story if you have not. Nobody goes from hell to heaven or heaven to hell, the gulph is just too wide.
peace to you.......This is why its so important to help win souls for Jesus so much is at stake in every precious human life.
It's good to see how interpreting the bible more philosophically is actually a valid thing in theology, since that's always been how I've felt in regards to religion!

there's a whole channel for that called "Ready to Harvest" - he goes over denominations and what they believe and what their history of their existence is.
Amazing breakdown of theology! As a zoomer myself, I've been fascinated expanding my knowledge and learning where we as Christians polarize. It's taken me a few years to be where I am and I sure wish I had come across this video sooner. Your explanations of these complicated and confusing topics makes them very digestable! I'm definitely going to be sharing this with my friends and family in Christ.
One critique i would have is that universalists don't necessarily disbelieve in hell. Many, if not most, simply believe that hell is temporary.
I disagree with those points- hell is real, and it's permanent. But I'm only human, and humans get things wrong all the time; if I had to be wrong about one more thing, that sure would be a nice thing to be wrong about.
But hey, that's why God makes the rules and not me
i used to be a universalist, and i had made my own assumption that hell was real and permanent, however very few get in

0:00 "Theology people like to use big fancy words for things, but the things these words mean is pretty simple"
That seems to be true of a LOT of fields of study.

@@HartyBikerI can’t be a Cessationist because I got healed when I was 10, I was born with flat feet and the Holy Spirit healed me.
@@HartyBiker you know i looked into it and you’re right, I agree with cessationism and i also lean more heavily on amyraldism

Sometimes, but it is often well-meaning but hard-headed stubbornness that leads to these problems. As a new light, calvinist, dispensationalist, baptist, cs lewis fan , sola scriptura, cessationist, covenantist, penal substitution atonement, provisionist, credo baptist, memorialist, evidentialist, complementarian, iconoclast. I found the video good too.
2:50 If you combine these views you get a cross. :)
Theologists also debate a lot about the rapture, whether it's gonna happens and when, related to the tribulation. Would love to see a video about these topics!
