  • It happens - people fail their AS exams at the end of Year 12. So if you got a U for year 12 what can you do as you go into Year 13?
    Thanks for watching,

Year 13 Jan/Feb had a two mocks for physics and got an E in 1 paper and a D in the other. I started putting in the work in March and ended up getting a B in a level Physics.
If you put the work in you can get any grade you want.

Main resource you used? Textbooks? Past papers? Or did you solely just watch Alevelphysicsonline videos and than past papers?

    • @theweeknd6796
      @theweeknd6796 5 лет назад +1

Guess I am just asking how you revised to bump up or grade and what technique and resources did you implement to get a high grade by the end of the real thing.

@@theweeknd6796 So I used RUclips channels such as this channel, gorilla physics and DrPhysicsA.
To start off I'd think about the topics I struggled on and read through the textbook on those chapters. Then there was questions at the end of each chapter which I'd do. You could also get a workbook like I did (I kinda left my revision a bit late and didn't really utilise it that well) and try and do as many questions as possible.
Theres also something called isaac physics which is worth checking out.
Then past papers, even do the past papers from different exam boards once you have done them all from your exam board. If your exam board had a previous series you could try those papers (make sure the content is relevant to your course). I've heard its beneficial to do a paper, mark it, revise the stuff you didnt understand etc, then wait a few days then do the exact same paper and repeat to make sure you are learning the stuff and not forgetting it.
Lastly, I started my revision March time for May/ June exams and I ended up prioritising Physics as i was underperforming in that area. This subsequently had an impact on my other 2 a levels and I went from working at an A* in Psychology and finished with a B down to not really revising it that much. The same happened with Chemistry as I was working at an A but ended up with a B. Try and start as early as possible even if it's just a little bit here or there. I coasted through year 12 and 13 until 3 months before exams and although I did get respectable results I know I could have done better.
All the best with your a-levels, I hope you took at least one thing away from my massive spiel.

@Tehillah Miti zero motivation is hard nut to crack. But you trust me when I say that keepingnthat attitude is a sure fire way to fail.
But, trust me also, when I say getting your head around something you didn't can really get you motivated again to work hard, especially if you manage it on your own.
I'm going to guess the electricity unit didn't go well for you (many of my pupils find it a brick wall). The way to look at electricity is, it is a puzzle - like a sudoku. In order to crack the puzzle you must know the rules (again just like a sudoku). As someone who chose a level physics, it is usually a safe bet that you enjoy the accomplished feeling of solving those types of puzzles?!
Well, spend this summer determined to get you head around current flow, resistance in series/parallel circuits, kirchoff's laws and how ohm's law is applied to circuits/components.
Do so by watching videos, go to isaacphysics and sign up for free (if you don't use it at your school already). Find their lockdown videos where they walk through the problem solving, then spend an hour solving a single problem like rambunctious resistors. Try and try again until you get it right. And if not, record everything you cannot get yourself and take it to your teacher in September as suggested in this video.
You can do it, but YOU have to do it! Good luck!

After he counted , he was surprised I had an above average grade . He added my grade would go down for actual exam . I was foolish to agree . After this exam , I failed this exam . After he knew I did not pass .He came to me , he wanted to view my exam ' result slip . After he saw result , he gave an disappointment body language . I had a bad teacher .

ive just finished my mocks (they were so bad across the school they are forcing resits in september to hopefully put the school back to its usually very high average grades), i was hoping for a 3 A* prediction but I got predicted a B in maths, C in comp sci and havent gotten my physics back yet as im self taught in physics and they seem to have forgotten to add it to my report. I'm still going to sit the imperial and cambridge engineering application tests in august (im also self taught in further maths) and starting tomorrow im going to start grinding out all three subjects. I know if I actually can manage to revise for once i can get these grades its not like GCSEs where i did literally know revision and still got an average grade of 8.x and now i know that.

Don’t feel disheartened or ashamed, those are some very hard a level subjects!!! But Yes I think so, but your school / sixth form might ask you or advise you whether or not your subjects are the correct option for you… if not, you may want to consider requesting to do an alternative mock in September to add to your UCAS application if your dissatisfied with your current grades… if they decline that, find out what your predicted grades are and also make a decision. If you think they’re too low or you’re unhappy repeating Year 12 is also an option💗 I know it sucks but it might help you better your grades and give you a better opportunity to get improvement grades from your current mocks if you do them again. Again, if you’re feeling that’s not suitable for you just role with what you’ve got and study very hard in year 13. And if because of your mock grades (and you’re planning to go uni) that you get no university offers, try see if you can get an unconditional offer and just work the best you can for A2 😊 hope this helps a little and I wish you the best of luck!!

@@chrs2x I convinced my teacher to give me a predicted D for UCAS, I got accepted at all 5 university choices and I got into my university of choice and I got a U on the subject I got a predicted E in. Advice is work really hard for your mocks this year and talk to your physics teacher on how to improve! When the exam results come around and let’s say you still get a U (I don’t think you will though, I think you can do it! :D ) you can convince your physics teacher to give you a higher predicted grade for UCAS. Also write a really good personal statement! You can find some inspiration for your course online but remember INSPIRATION only because you don’t want it to get plagiarised. Also please don’t worry about university too much which sounds strange but universities are way more understanding than schools and look at more than your grades. They look at personality, your achievements whether it’s academic or not, whether it’s inside or outside of school, medical conditions and much more! They will also have references from your teachers too and if you’re well behaved then you’re in the bag!
One of my closest friends got into a university in the top 15 for psychology and although they were predicted an A in the subject they got an E and yet their uni of choice still let them in! Same with me but mine is in the top 20. So please don’t worry! And let’s say hypothetically you get rejected on results day, there’s always clearing and I’ve heard it’s very easy!
So work hard but put your health first and don’t worry about university too much. I wish I could give you a hug because ik how stressful it’s going to be this year for you but don’t worry you have many blessings coming your way in the future! God bless!!🙏🏽
