Can't wait to try this one out when I can grab the DLC. Spent 3 hours this morning watching your DayZ Beginner tips Q and A video before playing today - it helped immensely! I did struggle to stay rid of cholera; it kept coming back after getting rid of it with tetra pills and I'm not sure why. Steep learning curve but a great game for sure.
Where do you get hunting gear on this map? On a server with high population it is essentially impossible to get guns from military bases because everything is looted. Where would you get winchesters, shotguns and blazes?

Usually uou get a pickaxe and equip it when your standing a large lump of rock in the ground and it shield prompt you to do it then
