- Alex Orji appears to be the favorite for Michigan's QB1 this fall, but it is certainly not even close to being a done deal. Does Sherrone trust him to take care of the football? Can he make the easy throws? These are questions we need answered. Do Jack Tuttle and Davis Warren give you more security but less of a ceiling? Let us know your thoughts!
Tuttle and Orji in packages
Orji 1 comp for 1 att Zero TDS in 2 years and Davis warren 5 comp and 14 att for total 89 yards in 2 years. FRESNO STATE Keene in 3 years Comp 516 Att 777 total yards 3 year 5353 yards with 47 touchdowns stats from ESPN
It's Orji but Jack Tuttle is going to get the majority of snaps as the season progresses, unless Orji develops the kind of finesse we've never seen from him.
HEY , WHATS GOING ON WITH THAT MICROPHONE ?
We do know whether or not Alex Orji can throw the football. You’re just not paying attention. He has thrown exactly one pass in two seasons. The staff actually trusts the running backs to throw the ball more so than they do Alex. He’s been highly inaccurate and turnover prone throughout his career. His senior in high school he completed 48% of his passes. In the spring game, he could not complete a single pass down field. Why would you change the entire offense to fit his skill set, when he’s an unproven quantity? I think the biggest tell is that they aren’t recruiting any other quarterbacks like him. They’re going after highly successful, and polished passers.
The idea that Alex had this wildly huge season ripping off huge runs as a game changer, is patently false as well. He didn’t have a single run last year of 20+ yards. He had 15 carries for 85 yards. That’s good but not game changing or insanely eye popping numbers. Too many history revisionists. He ran three plays that we not part of the regular offense.
@markchester7132 "we" aren't coaches! Orji has thrown a lot of passes v Ms #1 in live game simulations frgrt what fans saw in past! Today's Orji is what coaches see and they thnk his makes will be better than his misses plus his legs. Quit bringing up "past" stats!
"Garage takes" says it all! Why these random bar flies who are either M fans or just fball fans create these podcasts and thnk anyone cares what they say is stupefying!!
Okay, cmon... Alex Orji is OBVIOUSLY a package QB and not a true starter. For him to start, we would have to run some very archaic, Georgia Tech-style offense to fit his skillset, which would render us one-dimensional. Between Tuttle and Warren, I can't understand why Warren is not getting looked at more. He's clearly the most pure passer and feels like a guy who could develop into a solid Jake Ruddock type. Jack Tuttle is not promising at all. His "added experience," in comparison to the other QBs, amounts to a handful of sh*tty performances starting at Indiana. The guy has shown NOTHING to suggest he's even an average QB. He didn't even transfer to Michigan to start as a QB. He transferred here to start coaching. If he intended to get on the field, he would've stayed at Indiana and competed the off-season Penix transferred out.
We go play a 3 qb system. Orji, Warren davis and Jayden Davis all go play 🔥🔥. Tuttle go play 2 more years
A 6' senior without much experience loses the tie breaker. I got Tuttle, Orji, Denegal. All 3 are big and strong.
Orji was 0 for 1 on passes.
Yeah we do NOT want Tuttle to be the starter. Orji clearly isn’t ready or this wouldn’t even be a conversation. That really only leaves Warren because Davis didn’t look like a starter in the spring game and he clearly needs a year to get accustomed to college play. To me, Warren looked the best in the spring game (even though Tuttle didn’t play) and should be the starter over Tuttle. You don’t win a national championship and then give the keys to a 7th year guy from Indiana 🤦🏼♂️.
If JJ would have come back we could have realistically won back to back National Championships. If Tuttle wins the job and is starter for the season…9-3 at best, 8-4 likely. They missed out on Underwood, who could have started week 1, and letting Dante Moore go to Oregon. Losing 2 (3 if you count CJ Carr who was a 5 star - Lloyd’s grandson - who went to ND) five star guys from the state of Michigan to other schools is crazy, and the reason we won’t have a shot to repeat this season.
It’s frustrating because the Defense is gonna be nasty, we have a good running game/OL and the best TE in the nation! It’s a young QB’s dream, yet we don’t have anyone ready to fill JJ’s shoes. Oh and I get we don’t have any really NFL type WRs but in this offense you don’t really need that type to be successful 😑
