Great interview. Love Wink’s comment about how it’s not going to be the Don Brown defense. Following up a national championship is never easy, and following up a Hall of Fame level coach in Jim Harbaugh is not easy either. But getting Wink Martindale to be the Michigan DC was a great pick up.
That's my biggest fear is that he'll be too aggressive like Don Brown and we get worked again by OSU's NFL speed receivers. Literally just want him to build on Jesse Minter's coaching and we'll be fine.

We’ll see how it goes. But whether he copies, what they did last year or not, it’s always tough to repeat. And everybody expects Michigan to take a step back. Maybe they can use that as motivation.
He's going to run his version of his defense. It's going in to yr 3 now with the defense so I expect him to have the tougher time, but make the adjustments... He knows what he's doing, they'll be fine they'll play good defense all season but by the end they'll be really good.
Will Johnson is the ideal perfect type of 5 star for Michigan I remember hearing when Michigan first recruited him and he committed, I thought to myself wow Michigan don’t get those guys….and it only got better since then.

Wink is the innovator of the system that MacDonald and Minter used the last three years. I dont get the panic that some other fans have. Yes, he might do things differently but that's what I'd expect from the main teacher. Wink will know when to blitz or not. I just hope the offense doesn't make the defense play 35+ minutes a game.
Let's worry first about Texas USC and Oregon and some of the other teams on our schedule that we can't overlook. If we lose to Texas and Oregon and another team going into Columbus with three or four losses that's not going to be good. Because Ohio State could beat us and knock us out of the playoffs

If our defense lives up to the well deserved hype, I believe our offense only needs to average 28 pts a game to go undefeated heading into the to Columbus. That’s only 5 scoring drives a game. That offense is capable of that imo. Let them spy the don, spying the don is a big problem ONLY if he was a one dimensional back imo. You can hand The Don a fake then roll out Orgi for the pass or run, hit mullings on a counter or Orgi hits the Don with a late developing pass (Bama Game) this team will be fine. I expect a victory against Texas, even if we drop that game I believe it does not hurt us at all now that it’s a 12 team and possibly a loss to Texas wins us the Big10 by REALLY getting them boys focused.
Wink didn't just give credit to John Harbaugh, but he also gave credit to the creators of this defense: Rex, Dean, Chuck, etc. However Wink is fooling you all with that "this is not Don Brown's defense" qoute. The Raven's defense is way more complex than Don Brown's defense, but Wink is the person calling it, and his PHILOSOPHY is the same as Don's; blitz on every down.

He mentions going on vacation several times and apparently didn't realize how much work coaching college football was going to be. Luckily the defense is going to be super good and he can go back to the NFL like he wants. And like I said, hopefully there is someone there that is hungry and actually wants to be coaching college football.
