      Should I request for a complete guideline STET by STEP to produce best quality beer / brewers including ingredients INDEX. availability, estd. price Including presented machine and other attachment to start form an initial stage and with zero level of experience. More if any feasibility by means of finished products including utility, production personnel, establishment etc. The willing is to test a pilot project for the ultimate target about 100 machine can be set at its appropriate place.

      chris kennedy really?? They were out of stock the day the video released. The had a few a couple of days ago but will not have them back in stock for a while.. That came from keg king.

      I know of 9 sites that got like 200 of them in total in stock in the US from Keg king, so might just be more beer but they are actually one of the smaller retailers of robobrew.

      I got you.. People are free to do what they want with purchasing. I imagine those other sites aren't offering a free beer kit with the purchase. That is all I am trying to do for my audience.

    Thanks for the great vid and channel Brian - helped convince me to get a Robobrew instead of the Grainfather. With this it doesn't seem as "automated" as the other all in one systems, and still feels like I'm in control. Personally dislike the idea of a set and forget beer brewing system as the enjoyment comes from the hands on element of the brewing process. But this allows me to get more consistency in the brewing process that I dont have in my current simple setup.

    nice video! But I don't think it's a grainfather killer. There are a few wonky things with the system that are done much better on the grainfather. I love the new systems that are available to us home brewers now Grainfather, Robo brew or the braumeister. When considering which one to buy I chose the grainfather, Braumeister being very expensive with too small of a grain capacity and Robo brew being a very economy kit. The grainfather is in the sweet spot as far as I can see, bluetooth connectivity with cloud recipes that you can launch to run the gf though the mash and boil (hop additions). I have done about 25 brews on it and I always hit or exceed my efficiency so much so I have had to edit all of my previous recipes to 85% and reduce grains. If you are able to, Do a grainfather vs robo brew video. That would be cool. Cheers!!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад

      Thanks Kyle! I do agree with you there are some advantages and benefits to the grainfather there is an entire ecosystem that goes along with the grainfather Brewing System. I did mention that in my lifve Brew session on the robobrew. As a matter of fact I have a person locally to me that has a grainfather this going to let me borrow it to do a heads up Brewing review. I am in agreement with you on the price point I think it's a great introduction to Electric Brewing without breaking the bank. Cheers! Thanks for watching and commenting and giving your opinion!! 🍻

      Old Norse brewery yeah I would say it doesn't make sense for you at that price point but you don't have the issue that I do if I had brewed that same beer on my system the grain bed would have been about two and a half inches deep which doesn't lend itself to very good efficiency.

    I also found that on my Robobrew I have about a 3 degree differential between the Robo temp and my thermapen and the markings on the robobrew are off. I've only done a test run on it so far with just water, but am doing my first run this weekend, so appreciate the insight, will definitely be picking up a bag or basket for the hops after seeing that. I've also considered doing a no sparge method so may try that out if the 9gallons is enough.

      First brew went really well, I wasn't able to do no sparge because the vessel wasn't large enough to it with the mash tun and false bottom. I used my sous vide to heat the sparge water and that worked really well, hit og perfectly maybe a hair over, but all in all, extremely happy. The hop basket worked great

  • @jackrobbins5630
    @jackrobbins5630 7 лет назад

    I would like to see you discuss large grain bills with the Robobrew. I have friends with grainfathers and they claim upto 9.5lbs. One even had a successful brew with a 10lb grain bill. I have read in various Robobrew forums that 7.5 lbs is the max.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад

      Jack Robbins I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck but did you watch the video? We used 10 lb of grain in the batch that we did and had plenty of room.

    • @jackrobbins5630
      @jackrobbins5630 7 лет назад

      Actually meant to say kg like all the aussies say on the forums. So a 9kg would be more like 20 lbs.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад

      Hahaha okay Jack that makes a little bit more sense we are going to be doing a live Brew Day this weekend and I believe that batch has like 13 pounds in it I think 20 would probably be stretching it to be honest, it would be such a thick mash that you would have a hard time recirculating. We might have to put it to the test and see just how much we can get in there in another video. Cheers! And thanks for the clarification there! 😂😂😂

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah I think that might be some of your issue. Not sure what the 1000th of an inch your credit card is but I would experiment with milling once and see if it affects your efficiency. In sure it will flow better. Malt conditioning is something else but it takes a little time to do it.

  • @Fyrwulf
    @Fyrwulf 6 лет назад +1

    Well, you pretty much sold me on the Robobrew. My only question is, how much grain can you realistically fit into one of these at a time. I've pretty much accepted that I'm going to have to utilize reiterated mashing for big brews, I just need to know how many times I need to divide the grain.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 лет назад

      I think you could go as thick as you dare on the mash and get 15 MAYBE 16lbs of grain in it. It is not a "perfect" system but for the money and value. Don't think you can beat it. Thanks for the comment Alex! I have profiles for brewing software. Some mods to address some of the issues I found with the system. So if you get one check those out too! Cheers! 🍻

    • @Fyrwulf
      @Fyrwulf 6 лет назад

      I like 1.25 qts/lb as a ratio. I've already downloaded the profiles and adjusted recipes for Beersmith 2. I've also checked out the mods and definitely will do the sight glass one.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 лет назад

      Alex one thing I wanted to caution you on with that ratio is that there is a good amount of Dead Space underneath of The Malt pipe that does not get absorbed by the grain the same as in like a Herms system the grain is completely submerged in the liquid.. obviously anything like that is a trial and error but I just wanted to let you know about that before you do your first Brew on it. Let me know if you get one and how it goes for you I'm always up for finding out some new information

    this thing does seem to be a grain father killer. I've been around when someone was brewing on a grain father and the pump almost aways got clogged from the hops. I'll have to make sure the volume marks on my brewers edge are correct. nice video man.

    • @kdhhhhhh
      @kdhhhhhh 7 лет назад

      well this thing got clogged so much so he had to remove the pump. With the grainfather it is recommended to do a whirlpool and that keeps all of the gunk away from the filter. I have made a 100 IBU IPA and with this method I have never had a clogged pump.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад

      Yes you are correct Kyle, I did find out later that the pump did not clog it was a defective pump I am going to release an update video on it they have already sent me another pump. There should not be a reason why you can't Whirlpool while chilling.

    sweet system! Do you think it'd make a difference if the "bag" had mesh sides? I realize it may be hard to drain w/o making a mess. Also, did you heat the sparge water elsewhere? thanks

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад +1

      Rj Lind I don't think it would make a lot of difference, we didn't have any trouble with rinsing or sparging. Yes we did heat up the sparge water in my electric brewing kettle on my HERMS system. Thanks for the question and comments! Cheers! 🍻

  • @hmj8469
    @hmj8469 7 лет назад

    So the 2 gallons of sparge water needs to be heated up separately, on a stovetop?

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 лет назад

      That is what I would recommend. IF you are doing a lower gravity or volume (less than 5 gallons) you really won't need to do that. With a full 5 gallon batch I would recommend it. One thing you can do is heat the sparge water and put in a cooler prior to heating your mash water and hold it until sparge. The reason you can't do a full volume in the kettle is space. There is not enough kettle space to do a full volume of water. Most people are doing the same thing with the Grainfather. Cheers! 🍻

      I think it comes down to what you're looking for in a Brewing System. The Grainfather does offer quite a bit of other things besides just a Brewing System, Bluetooth, recipe creators, if those things don't matter to you why spend the money? One of my followers is going to let me Brew on his Grainfather system and I will do a review of that as well in the near future... I do think it is a good deal.

Or just do the markings like you guys did (currently doing that). It’s not a huge deal just annoying. Also, (I haven’t checked the video yet, so don’t know how extensive the mod is so bare with me here) will the mod void the warranty at all? Cheers guys thanks again

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 лет назад

      Sure, Tom no problem! There are a few other things that are upgrades on the V3. Another one of the upgrades is the ability to set parameters for step mashing in the control panel. The other upgrade is a cam lock fitting for the sparge arm. Just like the video that I have here. ruclips.net/video/cRSf7GTPI-M/видео.html none of the modifications that I have done to the robobrew void the warranty in any way.
