This challenge is in a different video than usual, I liked making this video a lot, I hope you'll like watching it. Dark Souls is one of my favorite game series ever, so expect more in the future.
Just a heads up for future challenges, Yhorm the giant isn't immune to any damage in the game. You have to hit his head hitbox. You can only do that after the downward slam attack he does with his sword with most weapons. Even a unarmed fist attack can reach just barely. Pyromancy is actually one of the easiest challenge runs to do against him. All you have to do is throw any kind of fireball spell at his head. Keep up the great content mate :)
24:44 "I figured out a strategy to beat them, a thing that allows you to win all the fights" Did you finally grab Chaos Bed Vestiges? "I got good" Oh, right, that also works.
"Toxic Mist is useless because every boss is immune to poison for some reason." *Me, who beat the game using Poison/Toxic on almost every boss:* "Uh, since when?"
"I tried to go against the boss of this area, but since it's a demon he has quite a good resistance to fire" Know what he doesn't have a resistance to though ? Toxic XD
Not to be that guy, but he is resistant to toxic. Thankfully it only takes a few casts for him to be inflicted so it makes it an easy fight for a pyromancer
You could always have killed the fosilized stray demon atop the watchdog of farron and transposed his soul for boulder heave which does physical damage and not fire
Oh yeah you and other commenters pointed this out to me, I don't know why but during the run I completely forgot about it. Thanks for the tip, I'll probably use it in the all bosses run!
@@quirijnv6793 You can have +5 for watchers if you get all the large shards available up to that point. 2 from giants in the cathedral, 2 from the bridge with the demon, one from the crows, and one from the dragon in the walls of lothric area.

Thank you so much! If you haven't already seen them, you can find a sorcery only and miracles only run here on the channel; and I plan to make more in the future for sure
Great run but i have to say you made this way harder than it had to be. Boulder heave dominates the abyss watchers and makes the old demon king an early kill. And you completely skiped over sacred flame which makes the humanoid bosses a cakewalk.
Sacred flame only works on Halflight, Gravetender and... I think that's it. I am... very fairly sure it doesn't work on Abyss Watchers, Freide, Deacons, etc.
one nice thing about this video, its like ymfah's video: can you beat (this game) by only doing x but the thing is ymfah just plays music in the backround and has the subtitles talk in here, it feels like theres much more personality and liveliness cause someones talking ngl i wanna see more of this
I did this challenge personally without any summon help. It was fun if a bit annoying. 2 things, 1. Boulder heave from the Stray Demon can easily stagger the Abyss Watchers and does physical damage so it's very good. 2. I did Yhorm without Siegward, if you try to use Dark Orb as it does more damage, equip the Dark Clutch Ring, and aim for headshots, I got about 700-800 damage per headshot and with like 5 he staggers and presents the head these then do over a thousand per cast. Be sure to be close enough so the orb doesn't fall short and only attack when his head is still like after an attack or you'll either hit the chest for 200ish damage or the orb will go over his shoulder. It was quite difficult but not impossible, I achieved it in something like twenty tries after trying different strategies. P.S. use the Saint-tree bell vine in your left hand to improve casting speed. P.P.S. Kill the demon king with dark pyromancies as soon as possible chaos bed vestiges is fantastic. But Great Chaos Fire Orb is better for the twin princes. P.P.P.S. Use Power Within, it's awesome. P.P.P.P.S. Use sacred flame for humanoid bosses also toxic mist is fantastic.
11:34 You can use sacred flame to stun lock both crystal sages, preventing the first from going to phase 2 and preventing the one in Archives to teleport. I do it every run, as even if you aren't a pyromancy assuming you can equip it you can grab attack grab
There is a pyromancy spell called boulder heave that you get from the stray demon soul that does physical damage. So you could use that on yorm and other fire resistant bosses. It does decent damage and can completely obliterate the abyss watchers.
Boulder heave that you get from stray demon soul, does physical dmg and can hit twice, allowing you to kill old demon king and also the white branch chime you get at undead cathedral speeds up casting time when you hold it in your off hand to off set slow speeds for boulder heave and other pyros
Good video, for future reference, maybe needs a bit work on pacing. Recently I've done a pyro run(not a challenge, but apart from normal mobs, most of the bosses are killed with pure fire) Some remarks; - Black fire orb is a fantastic tool for yhorm, you can aim to his head when he stomps, deals good damage and staggers in two hit. - I've done lothric and lorian with vestiges, it suprisingly trivialized the fight. Getting the vestige with pyromancies is the problem. I've tried to do it with poison mist, tried for about two hours, then got frustrated and whacked him with lothric sword and tarkus' help. -I've done dancer way early. Can be done with lower pyromancies if titanite chunk farm required for your build. -Great tree was also doable after some stat/upgrade investments, combustion deals good damage to the balls. Free aim might be required for scattered balls in second phase. -Deacons caused me the biggest problem. I've been either blasted by their dark spell, or gotten cursed. harder with pure pyromancy. Haven't done nameless king and gwyn the second, immediately went to dlc.
Good video. I recently did a Pyromancer run (not Pyromancy only but in practical terms I only used Pyro on all bosses) myself and I would say doing All Bosses is actually easier than just completing the game. Beating the Old Demon King is very simple. You just have to spam him with the Black Flame Orb and he dies in like 8 shots. That way you have the Bed Vestiges which make Twin Princes very easy. Nameless King dies more easily to Black Flame and Gundyr and Oceiros work with either one.
Thanks for the advice! Yeah I didn't plan this very well, and I too think that the All bosses one is not going to be that bad, I'm a bit scared by the dlc bosses but it's doable for sure
I'm doing a pyro playthrough currently, and i just focused on 30/30 int/faith before leveling anything else and I got that before abyss watchers. I also made sure I had a +3 or 4 pyro flame by then, and I absolutely destroyed this boss with fire orb. Pyro and magic in general is really, really good when you don't waste levels on BS stats like health, stamina etc. Attunement is good to level only after you're at like at least 40/40 int/fth
Attunement is important, if you have low attunement you are forced to drink mana estus way more often which can be punished with damage and with low attunement you are at risk losing all of your mana before boss battle or area ends of course if you doesn't have a giant amount of mana estus which results in low amount of regular estus
THis was lovely to watch. I actually saw your sorcerer video first (good old algorythm,) and you actually showed me some stuff I didn't know I was missing. I'm doing a semi-blind first playthrough as a mostly-sorcerer but I've picked up pyromancies, and I didn't realize I was missing so many critical items. Thank you for making these videos! I know they're more for challenge runners, but they teach us curious casuals a few things as well. :)
Thank you so much! Yeah the numbers are still growing but I'm loving this.Maybe it won't happen in the next couple of days, but the all bosses run will be there
I'm a bit late, but one thing I'd recommend for pure casters is to have the Executioner Greatsword in the off-hand (don't need to stats to wield it). If you kill enemies while having it equipped you get FP, I believe 6 or 7. Might not sound like much, but it can give you a couple extra casts or even more fp if you kill a group with 1 pyromancy. It's a good alternative until you get a simple infused caestus or shield.
As someone who did pyromancy primarily for my first playthrough. 1. Boulder is vital for coverage. Midir is basically unbeatable within pyromancy without it, and Dark Snake can be a tad unreliable before you get dark flame orb. Almost every bad pyromancy matchup gets flipped on its head by Boulder. 2. Old Demon King is easily beatable with your choice of Dark pyromancy, and Chaos Bed Vestiges is absolutely worth it. A lot of bosses just die to it, Sullivan in particular, you can just skip his second phase alltogether if you have a nearly full bar when he starts, and Oceiros gives you about half of his second phase too. 3. Sage Ring is your best friend, use it. It doesn't SEEM like a huge difference, but it is exactly the difference between being able to fireball and roll away, versus fireball and get flattened by some boss. 4. Learn to free aim. This is also why Chaos Bed Vestiges is so good. A lot of bosses can get beaned consistantly in more vulnerable spots, and a lot of pain enemies just die if you can get a longer range opening. 5. Unapplicable for this challenge, but the best weapons I have found are the Dark Hand, and then the Onyx Blade and Friede's Scythe, along with just carrying the Executioner's Greatsword. The Saint Bident is pretty decent as well, especially for Midir. The Dark Hand is an absolute standout, as it perfectly covers a lot of the roughest kinds of enemies for pyromancy, and can basically stunlock anything with a shield to death. The Onyx Blade is a standout for Soul of Cinder, and Friede's Scythe is great against Gael, imo 6. You can jump through whatever matchup hoops for Midir you want, but if you reach Midir as a pyromancer, your best bet is just Pestilent Mist lmao.
*I make my character purely through pyromancy because I want to play as a fire mage* Some dude on RUclips: "Can You Beat Dark Souls 3 With Only Pyromancy?" lol
I love these types of videos, i'm subscribing Also, have you thought of doing a bow only and a shield only run? I did both but not pyromancy only but i'm looking forward to it And yeah i think dlc's should be included
The clutch rings only give a 15% damage boost (still really good) and the cast speed boost from Sage ring is essential. Old Demon King is weak to Dark and you’re able to save Karla and buy black flame orb before you fight him which makes him super easy. Just some tips for anyone that wants to do their own pyro/magic playthrough.
21:09 "Here we dont need to take anything", yes you do. You need to take the estus shard on the bottom floor, left side (behind the stairs). I assume you took it though! Great video and awesome voice !
What is the song that starts playing at 11:55? I really like the music in your videos but digging through the YT audio library is a pain to sort out the songs. Posting the music you used as a playlist would be cool. That's something ymfah does.
i did this run about a year ago, and i can tell you that upping int and fth really high super early in the game instead of health and stamina makes the game much easier, and learning how to free aim the pyromancies allows you to increase your range to practically ignore most enemies
If you ever have to get items in the lava again, try infusing the black iron greatshield that Tarkus drops. With fire infusion, you can just hold block and waltz into the lava
Yeah it was a pretty big mistake, and I kind of addressed it in the other videos, but for sure I'll make an all bosses version of this video with less mistakes in the base game
Hey nice video! I'm doing the same run atm and my tip is to kill old demon king with boulder heave, the pyromancy from the stray demon bcs it doesnt deal fire damage but is considered pyromancy.. ~400 dmg per cast with flynns ring no equip load and tree bell vine.
Wait, the dragonslayer armor has a ranged attack? I have beaten dark souls 3 and that boss the corrupted and uncorrupted version and I never knew it had a ranged attack.
Great video, but real shame you chose this specific run to not do the DLC because almost all the DLC bosses can be inflicted with poison and toxic. And it is surprisingly effective. Though Midir would have been a nightmare.
Thanks! Yeah one day I'll do the pyromancy all bosses run, and I think the only way to defeat midir without becoming insane is boulder heave, but I'll have to test if I lose my mind anyway
Most bosses are immune to toxic and poison but notably the Old King and the demon in smouldering lake are only resistant not immune, so with a bit of careful casting and positioning you can just cheese him with poison mist and toxic. Ultimately their resistance only means that they have a larger build up meter, which means it will take longer for these spells to affect them, but they will also affect them for much longer. Thus you can do massive damage IF you can manage to actually poison or toxify these enemies.
pro tip , when in the crab woods drag the invader, 2 idiots, and anri with horace to the ladder. then get on the ladder and watch them swing at you and fall all the way down and die giving you all of there stuff with no effort at all... you can always spare anri if you really want too but if your doing an anri luck build killing him on the ladder or at least dragging horace to the ladder with make life way easier... no need to waste a bunch of estus fighting 2v1 all the time when you can easily win a 5v1 with a ladder which makes the entire area way less dangerous since all 5 of them dont respawn and the rest of the enemies there are either slow and not very damaging or just not paying attention or they are crabs and you should just use the big stick to knock them down to get that tasty animated kill... there are only 2 people in that whole swamp who are actually paying any attention to you
Oh yeah I always forget that he can be poisoned, since there are like a couple of bosses in the game not immune to it and it's not something I usually do. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure Old Demon King is vulnerable to toxic mist and kind of makes the fight against him a joke, and of course unlock the chaos bed vestige, basically the best pyromancy in the game.
He never went back to get the pyromancer from the Old Demon King which could have helped a bit, so if anyone wants to attempt this run I recommend getting that spell, especially against the princes
At first, I was wondering why you didn't go to Archdragon Peak. But I remembered that fighting the Ancient Wyvern is only easy when you do the plunge attack, and is Yhorm levels of bs when you fight it normally.
About the Yhorm-fight. I imagine your black flame would deal more damage if you hit the head. you can do this by baiting the chopping move (stand to his feet: he'll either stomp for 0 dmg or go for the super telegraphed down-chop).
You can get boulder heave killing the demon on the top of the tower farron wolf, with that pyromance can kill the old king demon because is fisical damage and no fire damage, making that you can get chaos bed vesiges before wolnir, I make that
I have to say, I did most bosses with only pyromancy (other than pontiff - as i found even with sage ring, I wasn't able to cast fast enough so I parried him and riposte with carthus flame arc and lothric short sword). After a couple hours farming the two knights in anor londo bonfire , any boss after that was easy with only great chaos, even Soul of Cinder who is supposed to be resistant.
I did the Yhorm part with Siegward unfortunately dying I realized that the black fire orb does a ton of posture damage to his head, with 3 or 4 direct hits he falls to his knees, and instead of riposting him you use black flame for some BIG damage
Swap out the Lloyd's ring for the sage's ring. Your spells will cast significantly faster, allowing more attack opportunities and thus more than makes up for the damage from Lloyd's ring.
I did this challenge in ds1, (except for quelagg since she's immune to fire) and honestly as soon as you get upgrades it's a cakewalk since all magic in that game is busted and I was able to beat it no problem
Chaos bed is super effective, so i image it will be main weapon after getting it. There is also one more pyromancy that do more damage than bed, but it's clunky to use. After starting as Cleric and Playing as Sorcerer whole game, I think as for casters, Pyro/Dark hybrid is the best.
For the demon boss: Boulder Heave and Toxic Mist can make you breeze through that fight using Pyromancy only. For the Twin Princes: the fight gets a lot easier with Sage Ring/Bellvine. As for Pontiff Sullyvan, I think Chaos Bed Vestiges is better than Great Chaos Fireball, except for when he's summoning the clone (because it is the only moment where he stands still to get the lava damage).
This challenge is in a different video than usual, I liked making this video a lot, I hope you'll like watching it. Dark Souls is one of my favorite game series ever, so expect more in the future.

very nice video mate! liked the miracles & sorcery ones aswell!
21:09 "Here we dont need to take anything", yes you do. You need to take the estus shard on the bottom floor, left side (behind the stairs). I assume you took it though!
Great video and awesome voice !
Nice stuff this is how I played on my first play through I did 100% pryo except for enemies immune to pryo
Glad you liked it! Yeah I think pyro only is super fun to do
Boulder Heave is the best pyromancy in the game.
I’m level 100 after watching this video I realized I had like 7 unburnt bone shards. Thanks😅😅😅
Bellissima run, super professionale e divertente.
Cordialmente,
Un tuo nuovo fan
this guy is so underrated
Bro is literally Bon Voyage
Adam driver and his friend lmaooo
What is the song that starts playing at 11:55? I really like the music in your videos but digging through the YT audio library is a pain to sort out the songs. Posting the music you used as a playlist would be cool. That's something ymfah does.
i did this run about a year ago, and i can tell you that upping int and fth really high super early in the game instead of health and stamina makes the game much easier, and learning how to free aim the pyromancies allows you to increase your range to practically ignore most enemies
I would’ve gone back to the Old Demon King after rescuing Karla and unlocking Black Flame to get Chaos Bed Vestiges because that spell is *broken!*
Yeah for sure that was a mistake on my part
that adam driver line was really funny
If you ever have to get items in the lava again, try infusing the black iron greatshield that Tarkus drops. With fire infusion, you can just hold block and waltz into the lava
Iam so thankful this came into my recommended section
I'm glad you liked it!
21:08 there actually a kind of hidden chest in the darkness on the left of the “hall” where there is a estus shard
Pyro is my favorite way to play these games. 👍🏾
Yeah it's so fun!
The fact that you never used the sage ring to increase cast speed really crushes my soul
Yeah it was a pretty big mistake, and I kind of addressed it in the other videos, but for sure I'll make an all bosses version of this video with less mistakes in the base game
@@PlateauPeak Thank you man, I just recently found your channel and have been on a binge. Really love your vids!
Fun fact, you can chain sacred flame grab the crystal sage. He will not be able to teleport until you run out of stamina or FP.
Wait, the dragonslayer armor has a ranged attack? I have beaten dark souls 3 and that boss the corrupted and uncorrupted version and I never knew it had a ranged attack.
Hehe, when the sacred flame had that one shot glitch for pvp kek
Great video, but real shame you chose this specific run to not do the DLC because almost all the DLC bosses can be inflicted with poison and toxic. And it is surprisingly effective. Though Midir would have been a nightmare.
Thanks! Yeah one day I'll do the pyromancy all bosses run, and I think the only way to defeat midir without becoming insane is boulder heave, but I'll have to test if I lose my mind anyway
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: I did it myself
Most bosses are immune to toxic and poison but notably the Old King and the demon in smouldering lake are only resistant not immune, so with a bit of careful casting and positioning you can just cheese him with poison mist and toxic. Ultimately their resistance only means that they have a larger build up meter, which means it will take longer for these spells to affect them, but they will also affect them for much longer. Thus you can do massive damage IF you can manage to actually poison or toxify these enemies.
worse part sig ends his life because he felt not useful anymore
but forgets his daugther
pro tip , when in the crab woods drag the invader, 2 idiots, and anri with horace to the ladder. then get on the ladder and watch them swing at you and fall all the way down and die giving you all of there stuff with no effort at all... you can always spare anri if you really want too but if your doing an anri luck build killing him on the ladder or at least dragging horace to the ladder with make life way easier... no need to waste a bunch of estus fighting 2v1 all the time when you can easily win a 5v1 with a ladder which makes the entire area way less dangerous since all 5 of them dont respawn and the rest of the enemies there are either slow and not very damaging or just not paying attention or they are crabs and you should just use the big stick to knock them down to get that tasty animated kill... there are only 2 people in that whole swamp who are actually paying any attention to you
Hey plateau peak I really like your videos keep it up
before even looking
short answer: yes
long answer: yeah
Nice job! Loving this seres.
Thank you!
A tip if you ever do a pyro only run again Old Demon King can be Poisoned and Toxiced making him a much easier fight
Oh yeah I always forget that he can be poisoned, since there are like a couple of bosses in the game not immune to it and it's not something I usually do. Thanks!
@@PlateauPeak np man hope you have a good time with your next pyro run
Thank you for the impressive slide show.
Btw for any future runs, remember to up dexterity because it makes your casting faster
At first, I was wondering why you didn't go to Archdragon Peak. But I remembered that fighting the Ancient Wyvern is only easy when you do the plunge attack, and is Yhorm levels of bs when you fight it normally.
Yeah it's tough, but someday I'll do it
Late to the party- cool video
I used the Saint bell vine for fast casts
Toxic mist for old demon king
Boulder heave for abyss watchers
About the Yhorm-fight. I imagine your black flame would deal more damage if you hit the head. you can do this by baiting the chopping move (stand to his feet: he'll either stomp for 0 dmg or go for the super telegraphed down-chop).
Hey this is my build when I first started the game. Awesome.
Since I haven’t finished all of dark souls I watch the video up to the boss I’ve just beaten and stop so I don’t get spoiled
You can get boulder heave killing the demon on the top of the tower farron wolf, with that pyromance can kill the old king demon because is fisical damage and no fire damage, making that you can get chaos bed vesiges before wolnir,
I make that
Yeah I think I'll do it in the all bosses run
I started a Pyro build and I've hit a hard wall at the Watcher lol gonna grind up some levels and try again!
I don't know how to describe this : you sound like the child of Ymfah and Boris
I did the Yhorm part with Siegward unfortunately dying
I realized that the black fire orb does a ton of posture damage to his head, with 3 or 4 direct hits he falls to his knees, and instead of riposting him you use black flame for some BIG damage
Swap out the Lloyd's ring for the sage's ring. Your spells will cast significantly faster, allowing more attack opportunities and thus more than makes up for the damage from Lloyd's ring.
I finished this game and all the DLCs but I only just learned you can loot mimics by putting them to sleep...
Gotta say it again your vids are awesome
I did this challenge in ds1, (except for quelagg since she's immune to fire) and honestly as soon as you get upgrades it's a cakewalk since all magic in that game is busted and I was able to beat it no problem
before see the video: easy, ash of ariandel :easy, ring city hello: demon prince
Hey found your video and thought it was super enjoyable. You could even say it was FIRE 🔥 heh (sorry for this horrible pun)
Hahaha Thank you!
Thanks for the video I just started a pyromancy run btw bell'accento fra
I sense some Italian, che mi dici
You remember me of ymfah. Anyway amazing video! 👍
