Just picked up the game from Steam sale and I'm really glad I found your channel. Learning a bunch of stuff way faster than blindly figuring out what's meta.
I think the penetration value is very RNG based. I’ve had tigers bounce shots against 50mm tanks. Probably only a 1% chance of happening but it’s possible. I think the penetration chance is generated each shot, taking into account armor, range and penetration value. Suppression also lowers the chance of hitting.
Hitting is completely rng based and does improve with each shot. Bit of them are a specific formula that pumps out the same chances every time. It’s just whether the almight RNJesus is on your side that day
That shouldn't happen if the guides on the subject are to be believed. Tiger's max range pen is 120mm and the penetration RNG is like +/-45mm. Which is still huge, but not enough for it to bounce off 50mm.
It generally also will help you to play tanks in steel division if you got like 5000 hours in war thunder. So you know literally every tank and most of their stats.
Maybe you should make it more clear, that the gun stats are for one of the ammo types only and you can switch by clicking the different types. Lest beginners think a tank firing APCR has that kind of pen and range on every AP shot or something. Very nice general overview though. I really like that you talked about a few common examples too. Makes it much easier to parse when there's a practical example.
I might be late to the party, but honestly, as germany I like to get a bunch of assault tanks like panzer 3n's or panzer 4 f1's in A phase, as many as I can. They can deal with enemy light/medium tanks with the help of panzer 3's and shred infantry and at guns. My favorite for this is 20th panzer (I dont have dlc's so wouldnt know about other decks) I guess not having heavy tanks is painfull when fighting is-2's or other heavy tanks, but using a few stuka's hasn't failed me yet. also the geopards in 20th panzer are a great help for sustaining anti air power on the push. Granted I play team games so I do not need to worry as much about always having my flanks fully covered.
This helps beginners that are new because for me since then I sometimes see beginner mistakenly use tanks in urban or forest which is throw away because urban is mostly assault squad some with at some not but something such as the 10 ppsh squads with at or more but tanks are for combine armed this helps your tank and infantry pinned there enemy down and retreat them. Heavy tanks are meant for shutting open area down
Drive forward your KT with some AA support and a recon unit. Park the KT on a hill behind a tree line. Let your recon spot the enemy. Allow your KT to engage the enemy. Enjoy the kill. Move your KT back and put it in new spot. Keep repeating until the enemy fall to their own frustration. Wait till they start to shittalking you in chat. Reply with a factual statement. Watch how your enemy lose temper and makes more mistakes. Drive up with your Nebelwerfer 41/2s and saturate the enemy lines with HE death to support our KT. Push forward with cheap infantry to benefit from the destruction. Capture the flag. Negate the air assault with the AA you've slowly amassed throughout the session. Watch how a player rage quits and permanently weakens the enemy side. Laugh in chat and keep the attrition beyond pain tolerance. Win.
I remember just picking up the game and loosing all of my tigers to t-34/85s i put the tigers in the worst positions and at close range so they got massacred by hordes of t-34s
I’ve got a really stupid noob question. My first few games vs people in quick game, I cannot find the chat to speak to them to check and see if they are ready to go. Fortunately I’m sure I take twice as long to set up, but I generally see it as good form to say hello and check opponent is ready before starting timer. Set up time is main thing that freaks me out playing vs humans too. Probably still takes me 4-5 minutes.
I'm disappointed to hear that tanks have health. That's not how it was in reality. Vehicles didn't accumulate damage until destroyed. They either got destroyed by a shot or not. Sure, sometimes they would get immobilized and stuff, but that's separate from getting destroyed. Having secret health bars is disappointing.
Reload is RPM, though it is not literal. Veterancy does speed up the rate of fire. There is a secret aim time stat, basically the Sherman aims faster than everyone else
Hi! Is there in anyway possible to calculate aiming time/speed (the little white clock that turns while aiming) depending on circumstances such driving forward, standing still, stop to fire, reversing and so on? I have had some really weird situations where IS2 aims faster than a Panther A . . . Sometimes even the RoF on IS2 have been faster than Panther G! Any comments on that?
I’m not sure to be honest. What I do know is the is2 is glitched and will randomly fire two rounds very fast, that is not a new glitch and I’ve seen it happen plenty
@@atkpwrgaming it's been a year since I actually played a game but remember repairing my Koenigstiger with a support truck to keep it alive and hold the line
>axis armor is generally better than allied armor Meanwhile T-34 1943 can easily kill my tigers in AG, that shit is frustrating, also because they have so many of those tanks. The only workaround i found to deal with swarms of soviet tanks are 88 mm AA guns, those fuckers easily melt them from 2k meters.
Well you need to fight them at longer ranges. Axis armor has the advantage at longer ranges. Not actually at close range. You lose the advantage when closer
@@atkpwrgaming i still get overwhelmed by sheer numbers, i usually can achieve a 1:3 ratio tank losses vs easy AI in defense, which i think it's just barely acceptable (i expect something like 1:8)
@@bellicapelli8155 I agree, a T-34 that isn't a 85 version shouldn't be penetrating the Tiger at any range above 100 meters. However a 1:8 kill ratio is only possible at long range.
Your vids are great but if you're going to give tutorials on the functionality of unit types then you really need to be giving in game samples and clips of when these tactics work and when they don't. Otherwise this, while informative and interesting, isn't particularly instructive or useful. If its being labelled as a tutorial, it should run as one
Well I go into depth on the battlefield with the next series, how to get good. If you don’t understand these stat sheets though it doesn’t matter what you do on the battlefield

Super pumped to help! You just got the best WW2 game out there!

Yeah I realized after the video that I didn’t. Although I did mention to watchtower he ammo tutorial, so kinda on them if they don’t watch that one
Another great video. You introduced me to this beautiful game that is steel division 2
Thrilled you have joined the club!

As someone who played a lot of tank games, having the basics of tanks explained to me always feels funny. Great video though.
Thanks for watching!

Yeah I definitely want to stop people from doing that ahha

No worries! You hit enter and the chat will pop up 😁 and yes this is great etiquette do it
I just played my first multi quick match with 5th panzer and won thanks atkpwr!
Congrats that’s awesome!
Thanks!

i appreciate these guides!

Every 500 metres -25mm of penetration, maybe)
I don’t think the drop off is that extreme. It might be a 25% decrease in pen chance though not sure
Is there a "secret stat" for reload speed/time and does veterancy help that?
Reload is RPM, though it is not literal. Veterancy does speed up the rate of fire. There is a secret aim time stat, basically the Sherman aims faster than everyone else
@@atkpwrgaming Makes a lot of sense, had famously good optics and a stabilizer. Anyway, thank you!

You used to be able to repair your tanks; is the no repair feature new?
No you could never repair in this game. Wargame and warno yea but not this one
@@atkpwrgaming it's been a year since I actually played a game but remember repairing my Koenigstiger with a support truck to keep it alive and hold the line
You can repair critical hits, but not loss of health. So things like Turret Stuck, Gun Jam, and Crew Killed are repairable, but not loss of health.
i thought not sucking at tanks was (1) turn off your apcr (2) anything else AtkPwr yells at his monitor while watching replays involving tanks
Hahahaha that’s generally very good advice honestly
