Not gonna comment on new OLN cause I respect what they're doing, but I will say this: early Our Last Night made some of the best post-hardcore I've ever heard, and for that reason, I will always love them. The Ghosts Among Us and (especially) We Will All Evolve are albums that I listen to to this day. I miss this era
I prefer actually understanding what they're saying, so newer is for me.
@@peoples4465 Its something your ears get trained to hear over time, ive been listening to screams in music for so long that its pretty easy to hear the lyrics now but back when i started it literally sounded like someone just screaming gibberish into the mic, thats what puts a lot of people off from heavier metal and rock genres, they cant understand the lyrics so they stop listening but if they would just google the lyrics they would understand the screaming is there to display emotion

Anyone else appreciate this older stuff AND the more pop punk type stuff they are doing. Maybe its because I'm also from NH and followed them since like 8th grade but I like it all. I just love this band

Some people say ``this OLN rules the new one sucks´´ or the other way around. A true fan of anything stays with it no matter what. A fan dont whimp down and cry about it just because people change and change style. Remember Linkin Park then and now? Ive listened to them from the start to now and i dont complain about it.
Manneten97 a true fan means you respect the changes they made as a band because every band progresses. you don't have to like all of it. you literally said "being a true fan means your preference doesn't matter you have to like all of it or you're not a real fan" which is the most teen thing i've ever seen
Manneten97 I agree, OLN are OLN. I like all of their songs, this heavy stuff, and their newer, less heavy stuff. In my opinion, OLN can't really go wrong, the layout of their band is unbreakable. Tim is one of the best drummers I've seen, Woody is great with the bass, and has the backing of Matt to cover pretty much anything. Matt is also a great vocalist and blends well with Trevor, who can do both heavy and light. As a true fan I see all their music as awesome, because the band is perfect.
Exactly I honestly 100% couldn’t agree more and I am also a big fan of LP and in, the past it has angered me to see some big fans just trashing them cause they changed up their style each year but I just loved them for who they are. Now OLN I got into them just last year and looking back, on their older style and, comparing to their more recent I do see a difference but I like both some ppl need realize they were just kids during these days most artists grow up and mature and with that so does the songs n style I for one am psyched to see this band come March 18th.. :)

Woody is probably the best bassist out there. No other bassist moves around like he does. It seems like with most bands, you don't really notice the bassist because they don't do much. But he goes out there and has fun, and I really respect that.
I don't generally listen to this kinda of music, but something about our last night is amazing. The Ghost Among Us is one of my favourite albums. Their music and mix of vocals is simply amazing.
Without question OLN's best album. I really hope they get some this back in their set someday :(

If you listen to even pop punk like The Queers and Sreeching Weasel, where this would be most considered similar, they're still not even remotely close to being the same thing.. .not the least bit. Like, the only similarities is people playing instruments and singing but that means we could call Smashing Pumpkins "punk rock" if that were the case. The style isn't even remotely close to being the same.

IN MY OPINION oln were better when they sounded like this. Their new stuff just doesn't cut it for me.these songs were better written ans had more passion than what they're doing now. The covers made it seem like they were trying to appeal to the masses ,which is good for them and I wish them the best, but as a fan of the old stuff I feel bummed knowing that they turned their backs on heavy.

You're pretty stupid to think that as Post Hardcore is one of the most diverse and progressive genres. The genre is literally a catch all that isn't already created in Hardcore. It's why you have so many different styles From Silverstein to Dance Gavin Dance.
I have no idea how this band is still not very well known. This album is old as fuck, and it's amazing. Word should have gotten around by now.

they're not really your mainstream pop cover band. I've been following them since WWAE and their older covers as well, songs like Skyfall and Clarity has amazing metal riffs and pure breakdowns. Their pop covers are always melodic and have screaming/melodic breakdown parts. Also check out their new song Ivory Tower, you can say heavy OLN are back kid

Funny how kids think they know everything about screaming/singing. It doesn't matter if you sing or scream. Over a period of time it will damage your vocal cords. Using them a lot with right technique or not will eventually have the same outcome. Wanna tell me I'm wrong please show me facts. This shit is common sense if you payed attention in class/went to college/read up on shit.
yes it does, but if you follow the right technique it helps not damage them as fast as just screaming your lungs out without and technique or practice.
