On my last trip to Spain 🇪🇸 (only 2 trips) I had no plans to stop by Valencia on my way from Madrid to Barcelona. Just before we took the trip I told my wife that we should at least stop by and stay one day. We ended up staying 3 days. I regretted not staying longer. I really liked Madrid and Barcelona. However, my heart ♥️ got stolen in Valencia. That damn city kept it.

Lovely Valencia where I lived for a year back in the 1980's. You should have tried the following dishes which are typical Valencian dishes: Arroz al horno - oven rice baked with chorizo, sausage, vegetables, meats and also all i pebre - a dish with fresh eels in a garlic and pepper sauce - all i pebre means garlic and pepper in the Valencian language (dialect of Catalan).

Not so keen on the sweet stuff, looked a little too sweet for my tastes but all the savouries looked fantastic and that lovely juice at the end a must for me. No wonder you were full though as that was a lot of food. I would have been happy with 2 of those "snacks". Or even just the tortilla on its own. I love a Spanish tortilla. I'm going through your playlists to catch up as I only just discovered your channel, but the duplicate playlists makes it a bit of a task to rummage through to find videos that I may have missed. Also, it would be great if you could do a 'watch from the beginning' playlist. Just some feedback :) keep up the great travels and videos

You find palmeras in every bakery in Valencia lol. but the street bakeries have better quality ones.. still not the best spanish sweet. Next time try coca de pasas y nueces or other specialities, one of the best bakeries, although there are many good ones is pasteleria Santa Catalina, next to the famous horchateria Santa Catalina.. lots of choice there! Also next time try "esgarraet" it is baked red peppers with salted cod, it is a typical valencian tapa. Nice video! I miss Valencia!! I now live in England

I am also Spanish and I can assure you that Palmeras are typically Spanish; perhaps in your area they are not common and that's why you think they are not from Spain. lol The origin however, like most food items, is not exact but some people claim it to be French (Palmiers) whilst others claim it to be older and part of the Spanish Arabic heritage as apparently puff pastry was brought to Europe via Spain by the Arabs. Believe who you want but bottom line, they are typical espanish. lol

The palm trees were brought to Spain a long time ago, but they are not endemic trees of the country. Except in the area of the city of Elche, are only decorative trees, there are no palm trees in the mountains naturally.

Many people say Valencia is like Barcelona before becoming "touristified". I.m afraid it.ll be the same in a couple of years, we locals are already getting expelled from our barrios by tourism, just like Barcelona.

how do you find all these places to eat. I live in europe & all i can see on the streets are overpriced boutique shops. i’ve been to almost all the places that you were & and always ended up eating @ mcdonalds or in supermarket. I like how you always state the prices too. This channel makes me appreciate my surroundings a bit more haha. but you seem to be really good at finding gems though.
