This is the series where I reveal what is inside these pottery moulds I found on Gumtree.

The story goes, I found a listing on gumtree for pottery stuff. When I arrived the seller said 'I have all these pottery moulds would you like them as well?' and I said 'why not'. On the way home, I had the brain child to do a social media video series revealing what each mould is.
The mystery is in the fact that I had no idea what I had said yes to, some of the moulds are labelled and easy to tell but some of them are a little more difficult. The beauty is that all of the plaster moulds surprise you no matter the presentation of labels, titles or identifiable surface inside.
So come join me as I dive into this series and share the mould fun. I would love to hear any information you may have on the moulds and to let me know any stories you have that the moulds remind you of in the comments.
Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!
Heaps of love,
Shelby

P.s I also have stickers and pins which are great little stocking fillers hehe!
Thanks for sharing Shelby. Can’t wait to see what’s in your shop.
I went in, hoping for one if those mugs Shelby, but couldn't find them
You probably answered this but I couldn't find it. Do you ship to the US?
Thank you SO MUCH for this collab Shelbs! I really loved playing with these with you and chatting together during the process ❤️❤️❤️ not our first collab, won’t be our last :P can’t wait to see what 2023 brings for you my friend!
Sara, will you be selling your pieces for this Collab at any point? Phenomenal work on this 👏🏼
How do you get the full piece glazed without it fusing???
So beautiful. You did such a great job!
@@DRainne08 I dont think so - the sun and the moon designs are very thin and very very delicate so I have a strong feeling they wouldnt make a trip through the postal system :P And the Cryptid ones... I just love them so dang much I dont think I can let them go!
i love how detailed you made it and your art style. your very talented.
Appreciate that Sarah made half left handed, half right handed mugs!
We called these truck driver mugs as kids. They were sold at truck stops a lot with whatever logo of the place on them. Some came with lids, some not. These were all wonderful designs ❤️
It’s an old fashioned travel mug. They were designed to sit on a dashboard of a car, back when those were usually flat, and before we had cup holders in cars. They are particularly stable, and great for people with pets, or folks with a movement disorder that might make it difficult to set things down flat, or might spill things more easily. Great mug shape, and fun collab!
My mom had one of those. It had either a cork or rubber pad on the bottom. One trip we took, she put the mug on the car roof and forgot to put it inside. When we stopped for gas a while later, it was still on the roof of the car.

are they good to drink from? The shape seems awkward for functional drinking purposes, like the liquid would get stuck in the wide bottom when tipped?
Actually it goes a back, they had travel mugs on ships, but also great on a desk so they won’t tip so easy, be careful though drinking the last bit because you have to tip your head way back and people like me, sill on my neck. It’s a style that works for some. Love the collab.
@@ambsquared hahaha! Yes! Those travel mugs really worked! Physics for the win. :D
Omg the mug shape reminds me so much of the mugs from Star Trek DS9!!!!
These are the original no tip/no spill travel mugs. A circle of gripping material would be placed on the bottom so mug could sit on the dashboard and not spill while driving. Cars didn't have cup holders back in the 1980s.
IT'S THE STAR TREK DEEP SPACE 9 MUG NO WAY!!!!!
I came to say this lol
HELL YEAH IT IS🤩🤩🤩
Raktajino mug!! I had the same thought!
Inlove with how sarah made sure that lefty’s get the ability to have a design thats not upside down!!
Sarah uses such bright vivid colours, it would be interesting to see what you might do with those paints Shelby.
We actually use similar and a lot of the same underglazes! The difference is I put on A LOT of layers and I also mix my own underglaze colours and I add a little stain to some colours to make them brighter!
I loved hearing Sarah’s story! She seems like a delightful person, and her art is so good!
AWWWWW thank you!!
I love the vintage vibe of this mug! Your flower design really speaks to a 60's mod style. Sarah's style is so cute!
Oooooh this is SO much fun Sarah and Shelby!!!!!!
The mugs with the fantastic design on the Botoms will be great for Zoom meetings
Mice and mini mushrooms the perfect fairy garden starter pack!
That was such a great advise. "If you are not selling your things it doesn't mean there is something wrong with your work you just haven't found the right poeple" thats totaly my story. I like this colab videos. So great to see other creatives.
"I was told to spend it on joy." That's a wonderful idea. Also I love mothman! ❤️
Number 99! Omygoodness! You've come so far!!!!
You always manage to surprise me and think of all these out of the box ways to decorate your pieces. They're all lovely!
My favorite are the sun and moon. Absolutely adorable.
Sarah's graphics are amazing. I love Shelbys flower mugs too.
the way the slip seeped in to the floral inlay gave the piece an effect that reminds me of calico print fabric after it has been washed and worn many, many times.
All the mugs are adorable, but the cryptids were my favourite.
My dad had these shaped mugs in the 80s and early 90s when he drove a semi-truck. The truck didn’t have cup holders, so he just put it on the floorboard between the seats.
This brought back some memories, lol!
The raised stars are intriguing! I love the colours, I really really love the outlined flower painting!
You don’t even KNOW! This style of mug was popular for a minute in the 90s (my mom had one) BUT it was also used in the Star Trek series Deep Space Nine for their space coffee and is now COVETED by fans online. I promise there is a huge market of nerds.
This inlay is so neat!
These travel mugs are great. These were everywhere when I was a kid.
Such a joy to watch this week
My favourite is the unglazed one. The combo of the pattern, the colours and the texture is wonderful.
The flower inlay is great. Different & interesting.
I love the shape of those cups used to have one. The shape helps keep the coffee hot for longer and good travel mugs. 😊❤❤
I love the daisy hand painted ones .. the best ... the other ones look nice ... I personally love flowers ...
Sarah's mugs were AWESOME!
These remind me so much of the mugs used for "raktajino" (aka space coffee;D) on star trek: deep space 9! They had the same sort of flared bottom design and likely came from a similar origin to this mold.
Gorgeous work all around (love the mothman
Loved this episode. I would love to see chocolate chip cookies inlaid round the sides with a painted one on bottom with a bite out. So cute. Loved your guest too. ❤️💯✨
The one you did off camera is my favorite, but they are all phenomenal
My favourite mugs to drink out of are ones with a happy “surprise” I can enjoy when I am drinking, like a butterfly inside the lip or a cute picture in the base I can see when draining the cup 😊
Cryptid mugs GREAT. Love them. Your mugs ADORABLE! I like the inlay ver much. I like the glazed.
I am so happy you two quirky gals have found each other to make great art together ❤. These are so fun.
Part of the design of this mug from the 1970s was due to computer operators at the time also needed a mug that would not turn over. The traveler mug was just one of the other uses. Enough about the reason for the shape… both of you came up with very unique designs. I did ceramics in the ‘70s and 80s and always love underglaze work and experimenting with glaze combinations. My proudest firing was when I got a red glaze that did not “flash” to the other pieces in the kiln. Thank you for sharing your work and reminding me of a very satisfying time in my creative life. Can’t wait to see your new design space.
Wow!! Both you ladies did great! I love the shape of the cup: I hate it when cups are narrow at the bottom and they fall over really easily! The only thing is-- does it hit the bridge of your nose? that's the only thing that can be a bad thing about the shape of that cup, otherwise-Rock On! I'm a 70's girl myself...And living in vans is now a thing again, as tiny houses have gotten rather expensive.... I wish I could include a picture of some of my favorite mugs that are wide at the bottom, or at least the same size as the rim!
I love the Shelby's flower mug! It reminds me of milk bath nails 😍
There is a famous german pop singer called Sarah Connor so when I saw the upload I was „NO WAY Shelby cooperated with Sarah Connor??“ 😂😂
But I love both visions for this mug! Both are super cute and well executed and I’m sure whoever will get these will get a kick out of them every time they open their kitchen cabinets. Also, imagine this slip inlay technique for a funky terrazzo effect, but some of the terrazzo pieces would be little tiny hearts or stars. I think I would die.
Also: could next week finally be the teapot we’ve all been waiting for!? 🙀 I hope it’s one of these novelty ones, like an animal shape or maybe even a matching cabbage teapot for the cabbage cups!
Oh, you should have said "spoiler alert"!. 🤭
I also thought about that Sarah Connor xD "From Sarah with looove"🎶
Also, Sarah Connor from Terminator lol
😂😅I was thinking "it's totally a lid and... a..handled... vase???" Meanwhile my teapot is giving me a disappointed look right next to me.
Love the shape of this mug! I’m completely obsessed with your designs ! I want them all!
LOVED the collaboration !
Absolutely beautiful all around!
Sarah's designs are so awesome!!
Those painted mugs are the cutest things ever -- and I love that she made two of them appropriate for lefthanders! And I do think that there's potential in the inlay idea, even though it turned out a little oddly. Maybe you can stick designs on the interior of the mold with glass beads or something. Might be a nice way to do a snowy scene on the mug.
These are the best mugs you've made, love, love, love the shape
I do not do ceramics, but I am totally hooked. I have watched so many of your videos since I discovered you! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
Oh my goodness! I want that moth man mug. It’s so fabulous!
I absolutely love the illustrations on the mugs! I've never thought of that before
That is a great mug. I really like the unglazed. I also like the flowers and colours you used on the flower mug you did off camera. It reminds me of 70s retro. ☺ Very cool.
The inlay designs are so pretty!
omg Sarah's illustration style is sooo cool! all the mugs turned out amazing 🤗
this would be perfect for brush water when painting
the coloured clay flowers are adorable!
I am embarrassed to say... I REMEMBER THIS MUG SHAPE!! ha ha. I love both Sarah and Shelby's results. Loved the fact Sarah called the base "real estate". Shelby, I really love your willingness to bring in collaborators and try new techniques!
wow i LOVE sarah's art style! these mugs are so interestingly shaped and cool too!
I loved this collab so much!
I really enjoyed seeing the new process you used and each step to get to the end result, Shelby! And I loved seeing a longer edit of Sarah working than the small grabs on Insta! Very clever and creative ladies! 👏🏼
I love the colour on the inside of the mugs ❤
100 looks like a teapot and lid. Perhaps it pairs with a cup set, that has already been shown. I absolutely love the shape of these cups.
The anticipation for episode 100 is so high now!!
My guess for the next mold is teapot!! I LOVE that inlay technique. Gorgeous! Sarah's mugs were beautiful as well! ❤
Your matte mug is visually soft like sugar cookies and the inlay flower one reminds me of soft flannel sheets well loved by a child(the thread bare/well worn spots cuz it's their absolute favorite set)🥰and Sarah moon and moth man mug remind me of my husband and I...quirky but quiet🥰🥰🥰
I'm loving Sarah's works!!
I'm looking forward to seeing her post more on her RUclips channel. I'm not on IG or those other social media networks, but watch Hella tube videos.
I'm do relating her bio, it's totally just like my storyline always the doer, the fixer....until currently.
Love the project, love the new inlay on your mugs, there's no failure in anything new! It's experiments and they are wonderful!!
This is the first full length video I've seen of yours after watching insta clips for far too long, and what a gem 💎, the wise kind words Sarah translate into life perfectly and warmed my heart ❤️
I love your work Shelby, and can't wait to see more of your creativity post 100 🎉
Soo cute!!!
❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You videos has inspired me to make some ceramic pieces for gifts and to not go traditional but to have fun and let the creativity flow. I love your work. Please keep sharing your artistic skills. BTW…good luck on the “Pottage”. You are an incredible young lady.
That is cool to have that on the bottom. Loved the Christmas ones
The shape Looks like what Kira used on Star Trek DSN
Oooo! The inlays came out so cute and i love the tones of the stained clay colors.
Love her illustration
That's such an interesting way to use such a strangely shaped mug. Love the flowers and bobbles. I liked the glazed look. Hope you keep practising and do more of these
Omg that method would be so cute for a cookies and milk theme!!!
Love love love. Sarah’s work is beautiful 😊
Where I live, mugs shaped like this are known as "Driving Mugs", used before travel thermos mugs became popular. They are shaped as such to have a wide base that does not tip over. You can set the mug down on the seat beside you, the console between the seats or the vehicle's dash, and the theory is that it will not tip over.
WV girl here was so neat to see Mothman pop up!
These mugs are amazing! I so want one for drinking tea at the computer ❤️
I love Sarah's work! I have two of her mugs and they are my treasures!
I really like the big painted flowers but all of them are so nice.
I've seen libraries that allow drinks only if they are in this kind of mug.
Your inlaid ones are right up my alley, because I work in polymer clay and we do that kind of thing all the time. The trick for your big circles with the flowers is to use the same cutter to cut flower-shaped holes into your background color. Put your cut-out flowers in the holes, and then use your rolling pin to gently flatten and fuse the shapes to the background. Then use your big circle cutter to cut out your large shape, and you have something that can stick smoothly to the side of the mold. Use a straight blade to inlay stripes. (Your designs remind me of easter eggs! Do you have an egg-shaped large cutter?)
I use the same flower cutters (the ones with the thinner petals) for my polymer clay jewellery! It's so cool seeing them used in different ways!
Congratulations on your Utube plaque and most especially on your beautiful teapot set, it is really, really beautiful. You put so much work into it. You really put alot of yourself in this I hope you get to have it for a long time. I found you by going through Utube and you were doing the reveals and ai love it. Thank you for what you do. I love watching you paint. Look forward to seeing you on line.
Beautiful collaboration ♥️♥️
What a cool idea! I love the shape of the mug, & the treatment on the base is such fun. I'd love one of these!
Love all of them. Your rounded shapes look like Fancy cookies in milk... The Cryptid Club ones were so awesome!
That's such an interesting technique. I had no idea that you could construct it like that and end you with such a solid piece. I'm so excited to see what number 100 will be!
I thought the same thing. It's a really interesting technique that offer a lot of possibilities. It turned put quite pretty.
Such beautiful colours as well as awesome art. Love the collab.
I’m a quilter and have made many many quilts I love. I have one I hate but others think it’s great! I totally get make what makes you happy…..others will usually will too. Never sold one though. I hand quilt so it can take weeks to finish. I don’t quilt for money I quilt for my SANITY! Lol My favorite ones to make are ones for a military person. I tend to make them for donation or auction….a few I have made to keep….but one can only keep so many. 😂
What😊, I’ve been after one of these mugs for such a long time. I love the contrast of design between the two of you. That all look soooo good❤
Those mugs with the wide base were really popular in the 80s as cars did not have cup holders back then and the mugs were sold as "spill proof" for people to drink in the car.
I really like texture so the unglaced mug was my fav. I think, beeing so balanced they would probably make good candle holders? Maybe by using a cone like shape to go on top and Receiver the candle.I am looking foreward to your post every week and can't waiting to have new updates on your shopbuild!
I looked at the shape of the mug and instantly thought it looked like an old fashioned poufy ball gown 😄
Loved both of your designs, you are both so creative ❤
🤔now I want to see one painted like a skirt. Or a whole person, similar to 'nesting Russian dolls' where the shape is just vaguely a person and the illustration makes it come to life😃😀
Two of my favorite artists! 😍
Think this is one of my favourite moulds so far, amazing shape and great approaches to the designs from both of you.
I love what you both did with these mugs 💜💜💜
Amazing episode! Loved the art and chat.
The cryptid club mugs are great
All the mugs turned out so cool, I love them! I also really like the inlay technique, I think it looks best on the little stars of the christmas mugs, both glazed and unglazed. I'd love to see you tackle this technique again. :)
Motion mugs! The first car non-slip mug!
Loved listening to you two and the pieces were so lovely! Wonderful video!
I absolutely adore all of these! ❤❤❤
