I have been lusting over the Pfaff machines since forever and when my sister and I got to have a play with them at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexander Palace last year I was immediately sold. I've been waiting patiently for the day to come when I could make the finances work and today is that day!!!!
I am now the proud owner of a Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 which I purchased from David Drummond in Edinburgh. If you are on the lookout for a new machine I can highly recommend them, the service I received was just incredible!

In 1990 I lived in Edinburgh and bought a knitting machine and a Hague linker (manual machine that chain links knitwear together) from David Drummond. In 2000 (ish) I lived in Elgin, Morayshire and bought a sewing machine and overlocker (over the phone!) from David Drummond. Their customer service has always been outstanding.

Fantastic Ruth, I hope you get great joy from your new machine, I’m sure you will. I had to look up what IDT was….basically an integrated walking foot I think. That will be a game changer for your jacket sewing I’m sure x

How exciting! I have had my Janome Atelier for 6 years and just discovered the auto back tack 🤦♀️
I did consider that one but it's a fair bit heavier than the Pfaff so I thought it might be a bit heavy for taking out and about with me. Very nice machine though, my friend Nett is very happy with hers 🥰

I’m very lucky to live local(ish) to David Drummond’s shop. Last year, I decided to get back into dressmaking and decided that my 1980’s machine needed upgrading so a visit to David was a must. I totally agree, he and his lovely staff could not be more friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As you say, their customer service cannot be surpassed. Glad you’re so happy with the new machine.
I would love to visit in person one day, they were just so helpful and lovely. It must have been hard to decide with all those lovely machines in front of you x
@@SeamStressedRuth It really wasn’t difficult, David asked my requirements/budget and then guided me to my lovely Janome. ☺️
Oh that is so exciting. You have been very brave too, trying out stuff like the buttonhole!. I got a new Bernina last year and it took me quite a while to get used to it and I still haven't used some of the features. Having a good machine though really does improve your sewing. I wonder now why I waited so long to get mine. I am really looking forward to seeing what you make on it.
I want to test out what I'm paying all that money for lol It's impressing me so far, and sewing on my buttons for me, well that's a game changer!

Oh go for it, you won't be disappointed! They are such lovely people at David Drummond, so incredibly helpful and the Pfaff's are just perfect! I drew up a comparison list to compare a few machines in that price range and this one had all the things I wanted and it's not too heavy which was important for me too 🥰

I got a my Pfaff 720 for my 40th birthday from my parents 2 years ago. I absolutely love it! When I use other machines I’m reminded why I love my pfaff. You will love it and the joy of button holes with it!

Love your excitement 😊 I upgraded at Christmas and one of my main must haves for the new machine was a longer arm so there was more sewing room. I got a bernette b77 in the end with so many stitches and I’ll probably only ever use 2😂
Another lovely machine! And I completely agree, the extra space is amazing but who really uses all those extra stitches 😆

Great machine! I also bought a Pfaff about 2 months ago and sewing has not been the same since. It is such an awesome machine and high quality. Looking forward to seeing your projects made with the Pfaff. Have fun!
I can immediately tell the difference, not that my Janome is poor quality, not at all, but yes this just feels so much smoother, loving it so far 🥰

@@SeamStressedRuth Loving it. very useful. I need to work free motion etc. Like my Baba lock, need to spend time to do more with the machine. Downside it doesn't have the twin needle function!

I got same machine nearly a year ago and have a question. Does your back stitch work properly? When i press my reverse button my machine keeps going forward a couple stitches before going backwards. Then does not go forward again for a couple stitches. Probably needs calibrating? But i dont want to take in for servicing as i use every day! Also, my bobbin winder didnt release the wound bobbin so i did have to get that adjusted. Oh, and when i first got it home and set it up, could not get it threaded. . .there's a slight angle to the thread uptake thingy you cant see and just have to "feel" to get thread in slot. After an hour of trying finally figured that out. Shld have had the store demonstrate b4 taking home and assuming it would be perfect😅 live and learn. I do love the machine, especially IDT feature. Thanks for showing us you new "toy"!!
Yes! I have found the same with the backstitch and the uptake lever. I think they are maybe 'quirks' of the Pfaff's as I heard the same thing from friends who also have Pfaff machines. I have gotten used to the backstitch rhythm pretty quickly so I hit the button a little bit before I need it. The take up lever is a tad annoying but, if I hold the thread taught at the top where its come off the spool it seems to slot in easier. I'm thinking it's maybe a bit like switching from Android to Apple, things are all there but they work slightly differently 😁
Hi Ruth, ty 4 reply. Was hoping it was just me and the sewing machine dealer could fix it. I will just need to practice more. It is a wonderful machine otherwise. So glad that you love yours! BTW, thoroughly enjoy you videos. Frank is an added treat. Ty 4 sharing!!
