      Do you have the Track Pack on your Plaid? Tesla offers that, unlocking the 165 mph limit to the peak of 203.8 mph. I have seen a video of a Tesla S Plaid on Autobahn, and it’s bonkers. Thanks for the show!

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  4 месяца назад +2

      @@BookProX Track Pack is a must for road course racing, but no advantage for drag racing. There is no dragstrip over 1/4 mile long in this state or any surrounding states. And the brakes are so large that these quicker 19” wheels won’t fit. Larger wheels suck for drag racing. Especially because the tire sidewalls are smaller so that the overall diameter remains 28.0”. That’s why the 21” OEMs are always one or two car lengths slower…

    It was good to see Greg still out racing while his amazing COPO Camaro gets repaired. It was great that Scott was game to run just on motor, and then again on spray. You can really tell how dialed in the Mustang is to run nitrous! Even though he was only spraying half track. Even getting the jump on him, he just walked away, and on the top end you were able to catch up slightly, but he was too far ahead. Still, it made for a fun race!

    Talking about tires got me thinking about general maintenance of the racing Plaid. 1 brake job and gutting some of the interior. What else have you had to do with the car to keep it racing for the 3 years? ICE cars have all kinds of repairs and tires (way more tires). I am thinking you have more free time.

    Just curious on your 89 mustang with nos. I had a 90 with just bolt ons 5 speed mustang back in the 90's and I swear the car would bog with slicks on the street. It was a great car for street racing cause it didn't over power the road like most cars I raced. Mine only ran 13 at 101 at track but was 1.68 60ft. Great 1/8th mile car but 302 didn't make anymore power over 5200. Sorry for rambling on, was just curious about your 89 and how it ran. Thanks for sharing your videos 👍

      👍 Funny you should ask about that “bog”. It usually didn’t, and I was careful to give it plenty of RPM when launching with the M&H Racemasters that I ran on 15x10” wheels. But once it bogged heavily as I was launching on Nitrous, and BOOM! 💥
      I heard pieces flying around under the hood.
      The backfire of Nitrous+Fuel took out everything outside the throttle body: The air box and all ducting. Thankfully no metal damage but it was a lesson learned! 🥺

      @TeslaPlaidChannel I ran the same tires and wheels. Never had nitrous so it would bog at 4500 side stepping clutch and hooked. I was beating 12.0 cars cause they couldn't hook up. Glad to see your Tesla is hanging in there. Here where I live , another Tesla caught fire going down the road here in Denver. Firemen spent almost 40,000 gallons of water trying to cool it down as you can not put out these electrical fire. All that poison in the water contaminated the whole area. Terrible! At any rate. Glad to see your Tesla is humming along. Make sure you do not park it inside or next to anything.

    • @TeslaPlaidChannel
      @TeslaPlaidChannel  4 месяца назад +1

      👍 We've seen dozens of car fires at the dragstrip, including that orange truck shown in this very video. Seen many car fires on the highway, all of them gas vehicles. Never seen an EV fire. The numbers don't lie, even if the same amount of EVs were on the road, there are still 27 times more fires with gas and diesels than EVs. 27 times. But Detroit didn't want people to know this, and they were able to spread FUD unchecked for years since Tesla doesn't spend any money on advertising. (Every news outlet was in Detroit's pocket.) Funny thing though when every Chevy Bolt ever made was recalled two years ago. Those ones really were catching on fire. And yet no one heard about it. Ask any random person about "EV fires" and they will say some baloney about Teslas. None were ever recalled for that. Some people sabotaged Teslas for views or to short the stock though.
      Yet the truth here: "In September 2021, GM recalled every single Bolt sold for model years 2017-22...impacting every Bolt, over 141,000 of them, on the road." GM warned not to park those lemons anywhere near homes, and for good reason. Typical GM quality. 😃
      Meanwhile we've owned six Teslas over the last 8 years, and loved every one. No maintenance or repair expense outside of tires, wiper blades, and one set of brake pads. We charge them in the garage every night without concern. (Safer than a highly flammable liquid like gasoline, and no one ever died by running their EV in a closed garage.)
