Obviously there is no racism -he is there. Black colleges are racist by definition. Please stop seeing "racism" where ir does not exist. The US is the least "racist" nation in history by far.
You guys do great reviews. you've done Ivies but haven't touched any little ives (besides middleburry) like Bowdoin, Amherst, Williams Pomona etc. These schools are competative and top notch academically but are small and underrecognized. they deserve hype too
Yes, he did. I would imagine Middlebury to be rough for students who aren't white (it's REALLY rural Vermont after all). I went to Hampshire College down in Amherst, MA, and although Hampshire was "different" than a lot of these upper echelon elite New England liberal arts colleges, it was still an overwhelmingly white school with its own brand of campus racism. Though it was a LOT better than some other schools (*cough, Bennington, Marlboro, Williams, Bowdoin, Colby, cough*) because at LEAST campus culture at Hampshire was much more experimental and open, so it was talked about a lot more. I'm from NYC as well, so I REALLY noticed it. Saw a lot of it at Amherst College too. UMass Amherst, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith were all pretty diverse, because of being a larger state University and women's colleges, which I think have overall a more historical track record to diversity rather than that of smaller co-ed schools.
renegade runner Touché. To be honest, it wasn’t actually so subtle AT ALL. It was better than it was on some other campuses I visited that were even smaller and whiter than Hampshire, because at least at Hampshire racism was actually talked about. Hampshire students were more open and willing to challenge their own beliefs and stereotypes about different races and cultures and the core curriculum (yes Hampshire still had some distribution requirements) included a multi-cultural perspective requirement in order to progress to senior year. However, it took two students of color (and their allies) occupations of different campus buildings (one in 1988, and the second in 1992) to even get the administration at Hampshire to listen to student of color demands to actually diversify campus in any significant way. And the student body was (and still is), overwhelmingly white.
Is the story of Lynne Schulze present among Middlebury students. She was a freshman that went missing from that college in 1971. Her case went cold and as of 2019 is still unsolved.
Yeh very white school but I'd say at least there was a decent effort to create a lot of racial dialogue. It was actually quite eye-opening for me coming from a very white part of the country. That being said, it must be quite difficult for non-white people there.
Yeah, Ari Fleischer went here. So did Dana Reeve! And many other well-known flatulences, heh heh heh..... Did they enjoy their time here? Well, some could tell ya, heh heh heh, AND SOME, WELL.....COULD NOT!!! UH HUH!!!
“I wrote about cleaning other people’s toilets...life lessons...” Can you believe this?? So what now you’re a great guy for rubbing elbows with the rabble?? Got all the answers!! That’s Middlebury!!
