Boeing & Alaska Airlines Will Not Accept Responsibility For Injuries On MAX 9 Door Plug Blowout

- Passengers aboard the now infamous Alaska flight 1282 can expect a challenge to lawsuits after both Boeing and Alaska Airlines have filed court documents disavowing liability. According to a report by a Washington DC area newspaper, both the plane manufacturer and the airline that operated the defective aircraft are denying legal responsibility for the incident.

Of course this is Boeing's responsibility
No this is spirit aerosystems
Both actually
@XXOmi22036 Boeing were the last to work on this area of the aircraft, not spirit. It was Boeing who removed the door and put it back in correctly.
It would appear in this filing Boeing are arguing alaska airlines should of checked the door plugs.
@@thearsenalmisfit2414 Funny how different "put it back in correctly" and "put it back incorrectly" are. I assume you meant the latter
This is getting ridiculous from Boeing, PR free fall
If it's a Boeing ,I'm NOT going
Protest
Boeing can neither accept responsibility for the bolts being missing nor provide evidence to NTSB that they installed the bolts. Why are their planes being allowed to transport anyone today?
It’s a good question. Maybe they should be inhibited from flying the Max, unless Boeing can supply the information and documentation requested by NTSB and Congress.
That would provide some motivation.
are you surprised?
Answer-money.
@@Chameleon-wq4ulbingo
Well, occasionally they do arrive safely.
What the hell, Boeing.
They accepted responsibility for the accident, but I guess not the injuries
Over 100 years of aircraft manufacturing will end because nobody wants to take responsibility. C’mon Calhoun shape up or ship out.
He took the opportunity years ago to oust the ex ceo for his own benefit and interest, not the company or public’s interest. It’s just corporate ladder game in his eyes.
Similar to Kodak, historically one of the USA biggest companies in both the Home consumer market and government contracts (world war and Cold War espionage), they failed to adapt and went bankrupt. Boeing isn’t safe from that outcome either, Kodak was replaced by Fuji Film and Boeing is replaced by Airbus
Boeing's problem is the lack of paperwork means they can not show the door plug was refitted correctly.
Which begs the question of what other undocumented work occurred on this airframe.
They should have just made settlements. Now it’s going to cost them both at least double in attorneys fees and when they eventually lose.
Plus the bad press
Boeing is at fault, but $1Bn in "damage" for three passengers that wasn't even closest to the door is ridiculous so I can understand they are trying to avoid that.
@@pjohan74I think it's a class-action. And I believe the payout will go to all members of the class, i.e. victims of that flight. But honestly considering the recklessness of Boeing, I feel they should be severely penalised, certainly more.than $1 billion.
"The aircraft was not properly maintained."
Please remind me, how old was it at the time of the accident?
10 weeks I think
About 10 or 11 weeks it was delivered October 31st 2023
it's boeing's trademark of "jedi mind trick"...
For Alaska i can understand, but for Boeing it is unacceptable
Right? Alaska wasnt really able to know that their door wasnt put in properly unless they took it apart and looked at it. Boeing knew damn well but sent it out to meet quotas. Absolutely despicable
@@colestock9980also, Alaska took correct precaution measures in regard to the pressurization issues the aircraft had previous to this incident
Yeah, but Alaska should not have flown the aircraft because it had pressurization issues. This isn't the first time Alaska has flown aircraft not properly serviced.
@@brkitdwnExactly this!
The plane is brand new plane what kind of maintenance Boeing talking about?
it's "jedi mind trick" again from boeing...
Imagine if that plug damaged or ripped off the horizontal or vertical stabilizers.
Not only that, it was very lucky the door went off during climb, if it was at cruise level where the pressure difference is much higher, the result of the incident would have been very different, and much much worse.
Adopting the mindset of politicians, deny, deny, deny. This is clearly Boeing's responsibility. The bolts were missing. How would Alaska Airlines find this unless they removed the panels on the cabin walls.
They also won't take responsibility for any fatal "self-inflicted" injuries found on former employees.
Boeing is half right. The aircraft wasn’t properly maintained. By Boeing!
Not maintained, but not built properly! Two months old. Did not need maintenance yet
The side door has not even been used yet.
It missing some bolt even before the plane was in alaska's hand.
The management at Boeing has lost their minds. Somebody has to pay for the injuries.
they killed the whistleblower, deleted the footage from when the door plug was installed... and now they deny responsibility. The Perfect Storm
Boeing's new motto, "No care, no responsibility."
So in this instance, Boeing's position is that the aircraft warranty expired after two months? They're just throwing future business toward Airbus.
Guess I’ll be flying airbus whenever possible
Or 20 yr old Boeings
Be careful, Airbus has it's own issues.
@@jw427 Airbus needs even more maintenance than Boeing.
@@jw427 Not like Boeing though.
Really wish China triple the C919 production
Boeing is the bad guy here , Not Alaska airlines!
If it's Boeing I ain't going
What’s wrong with Boeing? Since the Alaska airlines thing they haven’t done anything
Not to mention that whistleblower that was supposed to be on his 3rd day of testimony but was found dead
Legal manoeuvering...nothing more, nothing less.
Shameful.
Yet again those at the top are beyond responsibility, somehow I think the travelling public will have something to say about this….avoiding both of them if at all possible
When did the current president actually take responsibility?
No the economy is doing great
Alaska Airlines can be excused arguably
but Boeing has no excuses.
Never fly any boeing 737 max plane again.
This is the equivalent of both parties covering their eyes, pointing to the other, and saying: "they did it!"
what's it gonna take... another 737 crash to get it grounded again? this is really ridiculous the level of greed and disrespect to the passengers
How's this even possible?
Well one of them is responsible.
From what I've read, it's probably Boeing.
Did you hear that when Alaska Airlines could not resolve the pressurising problem, they decided to put the plane fly it's route over the ocean rather then the normal route....
@@jarigustafsson7620 yes, put that pales in significance compared to not fitting bolts.
They have backups for normal persuasion issues.
@@jarigustafsson7620They were legally not required to grouns the plane. Prohibiting overseas flights for the plane was done out of caution.
It seems unlikely that they are going to win that one. The Airplane lawyers I saw interviewed said they love filing these types of lawsuits because these companies are always responsible and you can't lose.
Now the passengers pressing lawsuits will suddenly become suicidal like the Boeing whistleblower.
".... will not WILLINGLY accept responsibility..."
Because they know that they can Epstein anyone who takes them to court, like what they did to John Barnett
And get away with it!
Do you have evidence they murdered anyone, or are you another Russian bot
Exactly !!
What about Ed Pierson?
It's not even subtle, displaying outright overbearing, "catch me if you can". 😁😁
Now Boeing has documents! How convenient!
If Alaska didn't suspect anything, why did they restrict flights to "Overland Only".
Boeing and Alaska airlines are pretty bad companies. It’s better to avoid these planes.
If you do your research, you'll find that Alaska Airlines is one of the safest airlines in the world
@@brin1814 Alaska takes shortcuts that cost lives. Check out the investigation of Flight 261
Alaska is always considered one of the best airlines in the US and the world. They're considered one of the safest airlines thanks to their improved safety program.
@@brin1814 not anymore.
Sure, its the passengers fault. LOL.
Guess Boeing aircraft come with warranty that says " bolts and screws may not be included "
"Some assembly required"
@@sheerluckholmes5468"Some repairs required"!
They are not taking ownership of any of their failures.
Should’ve bought Airbuses
Airbus lives in its own glass house and has had its own "strained" moments.
Don’t ask too many questions or Boeing may find you in your parked car and the cops will say it’s “self inflicted” when they find you.
Then who is to blame ? Gary Glitter ?
Act of God.
I'm pretty sure it's Gary's fault.
Then I will deny any legal liability if I damage something on the aircraft then
It is ridiculous what american businesses are allowed to get away with.
Someone has to go to jail for years, or Boeing must be stopped producing massmurder 737 planes.
No one goes to jail end of this story like it always does
maybe it's also time to review the US legal system in general and getting more down to earth.
Perfect legal and abhorrent public reactions by them
It’s the kind of free marketing Airbus dream about.
And COMAC, C919.
Interesting defense...denial. Both Boeing and Alaska Airlines could be blamed in certain aspects of the incident, however 1 billion dollars is downright frivolous, especially since the aircraft landed safely.
Hello everyone from Jamaica
It’s not Alaska’s fault that BOEING didnt install the door properly. Shame on Boeing
They are trying to throw Spirit under the bus. Nice try.
The plane was only 5 weeks old, how could Boeing deny responsibility, how can they label it 'faulty maintenance' ?
Of course they are going to deny liability in the face of litigation.
Boeing is the Ikea of aviation,
assemble it yourself (AIY)😮
What if they make the lawsuit sound like what boeing said? that "its because of the other party (alaska) who are not maintaining it well enough" and demand compensation from Alaska airline.
Cause rather than relying on Alaska empathy, its much more reasonable to point finger at this point
Hard to deny unless they have pictures of someone removing the bolts.
Will the roll of seat near the door be discounted?
They denying responsibility because if they admit fault, they will be sued big time. And could bankrupt either of them.
🤦🏻♂️ shameful
Didnt they admit that it was quality escape?
Disgusting behaviour from Boeing and Alaska 🤬
Why should Alaskan accept responsibilities
Disgusting behaviour from Boeing, not Alaska airline because it wasn’t their fault.
Haha what?! They both have responsibility. The only thing to settle is, who pays more. And how much Boeing owes Alaska.
National transportation danger board😂😂😂
Alaska Airlines should tell passengers they will be test passengers due to pressurizing (life support system) problems with 1282 let them know before the blow.
I shouldn't be surprised but I am.
This sounds like standard drill. The court is supposed to figure it all out.
Huge lawsuit coming up?
Huh?
I'll never fly again...
boeing
You can fly with everything, besides Boeing.
@@jantjarks7946I'll fly ALL BOEING except the 737 M*X and you can't stop me

Where are the log entries for every human who installed and inspected that door from the manufacturing and maintenance of it to the day it blew out? That will get to the bottom of it. Who done it?
The consequence is clear: no more flying any BOEING and Alaska again.
Why would Boeing want to take responsibility for their mistakes? If they did take responsibility, all these issues would've never happened.
There’s a paper trail. No worries.
Throwing Spirit under the Airbus…..
thing is, Airbus getting ownership of Spirit may improve things... Airbus is harder to pressure to reduce the costs any way they can including cutting corners...
Only because nobody was sucked out, it's being played down
it must be gremlins causing all of boing boing’s problems
The passenger's ticket (contract) was with Alaska, not Boeing. It's on Alaska to make them whole and then can take it up with Boeing.
Considering Alaska has a contract to buy 80 more aircraft from Boeing, getting some money (discount) from Boeing wouldn't be difficult.
This is on Boeing. How do you say Chapter 7 Bankruptcy? Calhoun is one of the two sorriest CEOs in the USA, the other Mary Barra.
It wasn't me.
or: I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything. 😅
Of course they will. But they'll have to pay anyway!!!
Instead of Boeing I call them Broeking!
I get why Alaska Airlines isn’t liable, but not Boeing.
Boeing said some time ago that they were responsible, but the questions are: How much is their luability and to whom? You don't fork over millions of dollars just because someone claims emotional trauma.
If it's a Boeing ,I'm NOT going
Keep digging, Boeing…
i hope the court throws the book at boeing for their total QA failure
Only way to get Boeings attention is for the US Government to close down Boeing until 3:30 they come clean and handover all the documents requested
They are literally blaming each other
At this point flying in SU95 and C919 is safer than Boeing
They need to stop buying the max
Typical
of course boeing deny responsibility, how else they are going to pay millions executive bonus
Of course it Boeing’s fault but the direct point of entry for passengers is Alaska. They have to pay first then get the compensation from Boeing. But if none of them care about human life then they should both be boycotted and sentenced
Of course . Greed rules👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Good luck with that😂
Why should they? They’re corporations, who are people, my friend.
Boeing has never played fair
Nationalize Boeing.
Boeing is better at lying than at flying!
