Today we take a look at the Colt 01911C which is Colt’s take on their classic 1911. Colt continues to fail miserably in the QC department. Thanks for watching.
The real problem is, it’s not mine.
I remember the Colt 1911 carrying back in my Army days, rattled like a sidewinder but could chamber a dog turd
I love this comment!!!!!
Your comment made me laugh out loud... well done!
I concur
I've had the same gun for over two and a half years and as for the piston defect that you show from the 10th minute to about the 12th minute, it's gone on my Colt....really a very good and accurate gun.🤠😎
At 5:55 I picked up my $390 Tisas 1911A1 RemRand WWII Clone and the grip safety has barely any side to side movement. I'm convinced at this point that Tisas is currently producing the best 1911s on the market.
For the money I 100% agree🤠
Yes, yes indeed.
Tisas and RIA’s 1911’s are the best bang for the money👌🏼
Agree! TISAS is the Go To 1911!
I hope CZ can fix them….and that colt doesn’t take down CZ 😂
$2000 Dan Wesson Specialist Commander- Zero issues. $300 Rock Island FS A1 Tact II- Zero issues. Colt hasn't been Colt for decades. It's a damn shame too.
It sure is. 🙁
It's going to get better, cz is still trying to get things moved and new people hired. Once Orlando takes over, it will be nicer.
To add insult to injury, they’ve been making 1911s the longest…it makes them look even worse since they have the most experience making them.
My Competition Stainless 9mm and Competition Blued 45 bought at the same time 2 years ago have none of these issues and are both literally perfection for me and what I paid. Both grip safeties do rattle but that’s notorious for Colt 1911s, neither have ANY of the problems he’s pointing out.
This particular model he bought has a ton of bad reviews on several online gun shops. Reviews for Competition models are total opposite and all positive.
Ya gotta do some research 🤷🏻♂️
I have the exact same gun and one issue I had that is apparently super common, is the engraving on the side being incredibly rough. If you ran a cotton ball over the slide it would massively snag, that's how bad it is. I also had an issue with the factory issued magazine, which I would expect to be a superior magazine given Colts quality and price, but it failed to feed the last round in the magazine every time I used it. I had to switch to factory Springfield and Kimber magazines. Since you mentioned Tisas, I bought a Tisas Tank Commander and had a few issues with it until I oiled it well and that solved the slide failure to go fully back into battery. The Tisas is my new favorite sidearm.
Great video! I am a Colt fanboy myself but Colt is still living in the past. Their build process is that of the old days where it was the norm to buy a Colt and send it off to the gunsmith to get it set up. The issues presented I am still seeing at the shops. Colts poor quality has given other companies the chance to take Colts customers away. DW, SA, RI and Tisas are giving customers 1911’s with less issues and a 1911 that they can ran out the box for less.
I own 3 tisas 1911's and they have ran flawlessly for me. as well as being super accurate.
Just discovered this video. I have the same model in a commander-size. The difference is when I brought it home, I made the decision to never shoot it and keep it as a display. It looks absolutely beautiful, because no one looks too closely at a display piece.
Thank you John Browning😊
If it rattles when you shake it, won’t jam when you shoot it.
Colt in name only today. I still have my 1911 from 1977 and it is built like a swiss watch. Everything works perfectly.
I HAVE MINE FROM NOM., 🪖🪖🪖 1961 ~~ 1964 🪖 GREAT GUN 🪖 82nd AIRBORNE ~~ 3 TIMES OVER !! 🪖🪖🪖🥰❤👍👍👍💪🙏
Great video! Important to bring these QC issues to the spotlight even if we all love colt to death. Mine does have a poorly fit thumb safety, but none of the other problems mentioned.
I’ve run my 1911C hard. It runs like a champ! I’ve been using it as my primary gun at my training shoots, bone stock as is and it’s been superb.
In just about every video that I shoot this gun in I mention that it is very reliable and super accurate. I really love it. But all the other issues piss me off. 🤠
@@wyominggunproject your backwards plunger and detent are bullshit. I would definitely return it and demand Colt make it right. I definitely know that Colt can make a dud, but that Rampant Colt just does it for me. I bought an Alchemy Prime for my “pretty gun”.
I have one already. It's called the 1911A1. It was my dad's sidearm in WW2. I'd rather part with a lung than give up that beauty.
Man the fit to finish is bad on this one. Some one was sleeping at QC on this Colt. I had the same Colt Classic that I purchase in 2019 with no problems other than the plastic main spring housing. My first 1911 was a Colt 70s series made in 1980 ,great gun. Thanks for the video, Slim.
Thanks for the comment Slim. Yeah that is really the problem with Colt. Is that they are hit or miss.
@@wyominggunproject Yes I think your right.
Leave the plastic housing.
It actually is better if you carry it, because it won’t rust and actually is softer on the spring.
My dad has a 1911 Colt full size he bought in 1974. I have seen and shot that pistol all my life, once I became a adult I bought a 1911 by Springfield Armory in stainless steel in 1996 and our pistol work flawlessly, and because their 45acp there is no need for overly expensive ammo, we buy American Eagle 230 grain full metal jackets because that’s all you need. With all 1911’s they like to be ran wet with oil until they wear in good.
I have fixed at least 3 plunger tubes also........they are never staked in right. Anytime I look at a Colt I just bring it up and let it be known, and I offer to fix it if I work on one for another reason. I do not call myself a gunsmith because I have no lathe, but the guys who have brought me guns for the last 10 years to work on do for whats it's worth lol. I see loose plunger tubes most of the time. After a little TLC they run great but it's like Colts get a pass but NOT Kimber NOT Springfield either. I LOVE my Colts.....not a hater here. I just think if were gonna bash poor QC I agree- we should apply it to all brands. Good stuff as always Sir.
Could have made the grips taller. Left should come up over the plunger tube for esthetics. That QC you pointed out blows.... wonder if they're using boarder crosser laborers 🤔 Personally wide spur hammers look best blued, but flat & narrow needs polished sides. Hope Colt sees this vid.
The bluing has to do with the flats on the slide having about a 400 grit polish the rest is bead blasted nothing wrong there, those guns are really supposed to be gunsmith blanks there gi models and that’s what’s cool you can make it what you want but your gonna spend a lot at your gunsmith
Agreed. But you didn’t see the round spot in the finish and the issue with the plunger tube and the safety being poorly fit. I don’t have an issues with the way it is blued except for that obvious blemish on the slide near the muzzle.
I purchased a stainless steel 1911 classic 8 years ago. It came in a blue cardboard box with 2 magazines. The back strap is also metal not plastic. I think Colt got cheap after Covid and started cutting corners. With that said mine wouldn’t shoot straight. I had to send it back because the rear sight was crooked and aimed upwards. Now it shoots great.
How is the slide to frame fit? I have the same gun and it rattles like a box of marbles. Mine has an embarrassing sloppy slide to frame fit. I also had the same issue with the thumb safety. I never shoot the gun because every time I pick it up it irritates me.
I forgot to mention the slide to frame fit but it sucks just like yours. Rattles like a rattlesnake.
Those imperfections would be typical of a wartime made gun when the manufacturer's side is losing.
You would find these imperfections on any wartime firearm. Regardless of whose side is winning.
I could see the plunger was backwards as soon as you pulled it out. The plunger tube is defective, and the safety needs to be reworked for a proper fit. I would send that pistol back to Colt with a "nasty-gram"!
Trust me I was considering it but I have heard horror stories about their return times. Some people have said as long as six months to get a gun repaired and returned.
That plunger set up is a doozy. You know what plaintiff's expert would do in a liability case?
Colt is trash. They have been for so long, it’s no longer a “QC” issue. It’s inherent culture.
Why people buy their stuff is a mystery.
I can’t argue with that.
Bought mine in January of 2020. It didn't have any issues at all. It is stainless, though, so the finish issues are a non issue.
And that my friend is the problem with Colt. They are very inconsistent with their quality. I just picked up a combat commander that is perfect. Yeah the stainless one looks great.
Do you plan on doing a review on the commander?@@wyominggunproject
@@GunNut91Fox Yes sir. Already filmed everything I just need to edit it. It’s coming. 🤠
Looks pretty identical to my great grandfather's Colt m1911a1 service pistol from when he was in the sas during world war 2 that I've recently inherited. I'm currently going through the licensing process in Australia and I'm almost there. Only mine is Parkerised and from 1943 and is a transitional model with vastly much small sights. Also it's got hollow Bakelite grips that aren't the diamond ones or wooden
Great content. One of my pre pandemic purchases of a Colt 1911 38 Super has a safety like ones you’ve shown that “over travels” Could you do a vid where you show how to replace this with a quality aftermarket part…? That would be great if possible. I actually watched your vids…then busted out my three Colt 1911’s to see what quality issues I had….not to disappoint…the safety was jacked up on one. Thanks…
The frame to slide fit sucks, barrel to slide, bushing to barrel, safety, trigger, in a world where even Kimber can be considered sub standard these days, the Colt name is the only thing that sells these guns and they should be the best🥲
This is true and it is sad because I love Colt.
@@alanmeyers3957 $600 for the gun, $400 for the horse
I had QC problems with Series 70 1911's (Gvt. and NM) back in the early 70's when I was just starting out. The Gvt. Model was a smoothbore--no lands and grooves! The NM was so slide loose you could hear me coming. Whether or not it affects accuracy isn't the point--you don't want that when you pay $$. No issues with Springfield over the years.
I have experienced the same issues with Colt. The very first handgun I ever purchased in 1995 was a Colt 1991 Officer model and it kinda sucked. 🤠
Colt is really focusing on the double action revolvers and the Python right now. Colt has never been able to do more than one thing well at a time.
You should have checked out Standard Manufacturing 1911 Royal blue in .45 acp. They make a mil spec as well appears to be better than your C class. Colts QC is sub standard for any of their firearms. Even Tisas is better than a 1911 Colt C . Appreciate your review glade I only own one from Colt made in 1943 my Dad had during the D day invasion that he passed on to me.
I agree. I did a video where I compared a Tisas 1911 to this Colt and the Tisas was better in my opinion.
Just picked up one this month. Not as bad as yours, but some sharp edges, and a few smalls nics in the barrel and the mainspring housing definitely bring the price point down in my book.
I'm sorry; I didn't catch what year your 1911 was made in;... I heard that Colt had both 'good' & 'bad' manufacturing years (?). I have a 1945 A1, & a mid-70's GC-N.M., Mk IV, series 70, & neither of them have any of the issues (fit/finish, rattling, retainer springs falling out, etc.) your Colt here has... Did you buy yours from the factory as the first owner? Maybe I was 'lucky' with both of mine ???
This is a newer production gun. Probably 2023. Bought it brand new. Colt has some quality control issues lately. Check out me other videos on my channel and see all the problems I have with Colt 1911’s. It’s not good. But I am a sucker for a Colt. 🤠
DEAD ON ACCURATE REVIEW. YOURE RIGHT. I OWN MANY MORE COLTS THAN YOU, MANY OF THEM HAVE SMALL ANNOYING ISSUES.
Yep. I am up to ten Colt 1911’s now and eight of them have small issues. Two of them are perfect. Almost all the reviews for them are up now and you will see that almost every one of them has little annoying issues and it is unacceptable. Thanks for the comment man. 🤠
I bough a Colt 1911 series 70 Government Model .45, brand new, about a year ago. It has none of the problems you described, other than the rattling grip safety. And I will say, the bluing seems pretty light. A month of daily carry is wearing bluing off of the slide. The other things you pointed out as poor workmanship do not exist on my 1911.
Bought the exact same colt...the thumb safety is horrible, and the slide stop I am still filing to be able to install. Worst thing is the barrel link and pin fall out when disassemble.
It is accurate, trigger is nice....but I disappointed for $850??
Yep. Thats Colt 🤠
Every gun maker these days have issues. Pride in your work is rare these days.
Very True
Colt does make a series 70 in royal blue if you want a better finish, mine has the awful squishy safety and I had to replace the slide stop the original was almost completely nonserviceable. I want ahead and put a longer trigger in mine because that fits my hand better good shooter though.
Damn even after CZ 😅 now we know the problem with colt is management 😮
I bought mine recently was jamming changed the magazine to wilson combat no issues since then.
Mine feeds perfectly and is very accurate it just has a lot of little issues. 🤠
Hey Man,
I forgot to ask you... (i might have missed it on this gun) on the left side of your slide of your Govt is your engraving "raised" and not smooth? I went over it with a yellow No 9 hoppe's cloth and some of the fibers were left behind... I'm going to ask around .. I figured you were the best one to ask. P.S. the finish came up but not like i had hoped... but i'm good with it.
Thanks.
Yes sir it is raised on mine also.
@@wyominggunproject Ok thanks..
I'm told that all gun manufacturers use this laser engraving technique and the raised lettering is a part of it. I asked a few other guys on YT and so far their lettering is raised also.
So... if you buy a high end pistol this is what you have to settle for? I'm having a hard time believing that.
I would love to own that pistol. I’d immediately put a steel arched mainspring housing on it.
Leave the plastic housing.
It actually is better if you carry it, because it won’t rust and actually is softer on the spring.
@@iliafigueroa4820Plastic does not belong on a 1911.
@@christophermead9800
Do not tell me that!
I am a gas, wood and metal person!
I HATE chrome, plastic, carbon fiber, electric vehicles, polywhatevers…
It’s a production 1911 I’m honestly not surprised by this review. I still think it looks pretty nice overall as a base gun to customize (throw all away small parts) Harrison Design sells everything you need to improve that pistol. My Springfield Mil Spec looks nicer but the colt is still a colt. Their QC though for paying basically a 1K is questionable but it’s a colt 1911.
I heard that Colt sold out to the manufacturer of CZ. Don't understand what is going on though. I always thought of Colt as high class.
The only think I didn't like about my O1911C was the plastic mainspring housing. The slide and frame flats have a different finish, hence the appearance of a different color.
Leave the plastic housing.
It actually is better if you carry it, because it won’t rust and actually is softer on the spring.
If you check the reviews on this particular 1911 classic on Buds, it’s apparent this model has problems. I bought a Competition Stainless in 9mm and a Competition Blued in 45 around 2-3 years ago and both are absolutely perfect. Not the first finish issue, slide doesn’t rattle at all so fitment is great, slide to frame on the back near hammer is fit perfect, hammer is tight no wobble, neither safety of mine does what yours is doing, and no malfunctions in either. My grip safety does rattle on both but that’s notorious on Colts and I’m fine with it. You can get shims for it and tighten up fitment. Ya gotta check them reviews, I love Colt too and am extra happy with both of the 1911s. I paid $1k each.
Bro. Check my channel. I own ten Colt 1911’s. All ten have full length reviews done on them and eight out of the ten have some small issue. Trust me I am very familiar with Colt 1911’s and their QC issues.
@ I’m not trying to knock you, I’m sure you are knowledgeable. Just saying, there are dozens of 1 star reviews on this specific model for some reason. And the opposite is true for the Competition models and several others that are all praise. Colt has no excuse to be letting the Classic model out the factory as it has been and the reviews tell me that they know that model is jacked up.
Not really sure how owning 10 Colt 1911s will make you knowledgeable on the build quality of the Classic model if all 10 of them aren’t also recent production Classic models. But hey, I’m just a fellow buyer who has been buying Colt rifles and pistols that I love everything about and wants to continue doing so.
@ all the 1911’s come off the same assembly line regardless of model. Colt has no excuse for any of their well documented QC issues when it comes to their production 1911’s. I have a Python that is perfect. I also have a competition model in 38 Super that is a hot mess. As I stated every one of my Colt pistols has its own full length review on my channel and you see the actual issues with the actual pistol unlike anonymous reviews from whatever website you are reading them from. I can only go off my experience with the many Colt 1911’s I currently own and the countless number I have owned in the past. Just my personal experience documented for the world to see.
@ maybe what you’re saying on the assembly line is the case but, it wouldn’t make much sense seeing as the reviews are heavily skewed. The website with the reviews is Buds Gun Shop, it’s a very large dealer and a review requires a purchase. There’s a reason the reviews skew so heavily negative compared to the other Colt 1911s, and when we line up those reviews outlining the same problems you have with yours I’m perplexed as to why you dismiss them so easily citing your own limited experience in comparison.
Your Classic is obviously worthy of going back to Colt, and the reviews I’m referencing trend heavily towards widespread issues with the Classic model specifically and show that the other Colt 1911s do not have those same issues.
Why dismiss widespread reported problems as “just Colt’s QC” when the review statistics prove otherwise? I don’t understand.
@@Critical-Defense review stats from one website? WTF are you talking about. Spoiler alert I purchased nine of my ten Colt 1911’s that I currently own from Bud’s. I am very familiar with Bud’s. As a matter of fact I am a “Team Bud’s” member. Again you offer no real experience you own two Colt’s now you are a Colt expert? Stop sucking Colt’s A$$ and coping for their poor quality. Here’s a spoiler for you. I currently own over 35 1911’s. Everything from Les Baer and Ed Brown to Tisas, Colt, Kimber, Dan Wesson and Rock Island and I have own hundreds of 1911’s in my lifetime. You are obviously a member of the Cult of Colt. Please make a detailed video of your two Colt’s tag me in it and show me how “perfect” they are.
Our expectations are those of the 1960s and 1970s. The master gunsmiths of Colt and Smith and Wesson have long since passed and younger people of that era had no interest in being a protégé. Lost art 😢. A couple of things I will mention from first hand knowledge, the bluing or finishing process use different chemical mixes and procedures because of expense. The gun manufacturers these days do laser etching rather than roll marking due to expense and lack of proper equipment. Hand fitting is a joke these days. In 1970 one master fitted the entire gun . Now it’s done assembly line fashion by multiple people. Oh well times have changed. Good video be safe out there.
Agree 💯
I’m turning 21 in September and I’m struggling whether I should get the Kimber stainless raptor 2 or the Colt 1911 series 70 you have. Which is better, Kimber or Colt?
Honestly, I would go with Kimber. Unless you really want a Colt.
@@wyominggunproject yeah and I heard that Colt doesn’t really do a good job feeding hollow points like Kimber does.
Springfield armory range officer , closer to series 70 colts
Why not return to dealer that sold you the Colt? It is your responsibility to check the firearm. Now you can send it back to correct the flaws.
Can’t return it to the dealer. Any problems with the gun and they have to be returned to Colt and Colt’s customer service is notoriously bad. It would probably take six months to repair it and get returned.
Have sent many colts back to customer service, quick turnaround time for Peace Makers & 1911's . Like a month or two. All came back proper, Better than expected.@@wyominggunproject
He meant why didn’t you check the gun before you bought it.
@@zackzielinski3340 because I purchased it online. No local gun stores in town are Colt dealers and I couldn’t tear the gun down to find the issues with the plunger tube. I also didn’t see the finish issue in the store because it was covered in machine oil.
I got one. So far 600 rounds not one malfunction
Same here. Not one malfunction and it is very accurate. It’s just the little crap with this thing. 🤠
I order a Gold Cup online from Midway and was hoping I’d get a good one…. Nope, looks like it had been dropped at the factory with front site off center and 3 deep groves on the barrel hood and top of slide. So disappointed … I knew I shouldn’t have purchased online without ability to inspect before purchase. Sent it back to Colt … in a few months maybe I’ll get it back …
This is exactly why I haven’t sent mine back. Their customer service is worse than their quality control.
You can deny the transfer and send back to the retailer at the FFL. Do people not know this?
Did you get it back, and if so how is it now?

@@grayman404 I have a Tisas, I wanted a real Colt’s Government Model. And it’s nicer than my Tisas. It’s made by American hands in the USA. And Colt is the true 1911 company. Tisas is fine otherwise.
I wonder how this compares to a Springfield mil spec 45acp?
The safety is the only thing id have a problem with. That blue spec doesn't effect accuracy😅. Colt builds pistols for shooting not looking at all day😂 enjoy your Colts
Mine is accurate and runs like a champ...got a truck load of 1911s got this one to shoot military games..
This one is very accurate and reliable as well. It just has alot of small issues.
@wyominggunproject the front sight fell off mine I just restated it. Just wanted a plane colt pleased with it..
The grips on my 1911C doesn't have that cutout for the ambi. My only gripe with mine is the roll marks. They're fairly light and the ghost like smears aren't very attractive.
I have a Kimber custom blue .45 acp no problems extremely accurate. 🦅🇺🇸 your Colt should not be like that. 🦅🇺🇸
Yep I have one Kimber 1911 and one on the way. My Kimber light weight Shadow Ghost is very reliable and very accurate. You darn right this Colt shouldn’t be this way. 🤠
Last two Colts I purchased, one out of the custom shop, have been back three times. I just keep sending them back so hopefully they will learn it cost far less to fix it before shipping it out than tho pay return shipping and fixing it later. I'm done buying Colt firearms. I now own custom 1911s from another maker. I'd rather pay for quality than a stamping of a rampant horse on my slide.
I agree 🤠
got the same model im the first owner and after 200 rounds the back iron sights broke off so now i have no sights untill i change them out
That's how Colt blues 1911's now days unless you fork out the money for the royal blue. it's normal. The rattles and stuff is just how Colt does it, just like the older GI's other than the new bluing being crap compared to the old days but we all know that's never going to happen due to the expense in the metal work. BTW, if the grips bother you wait till you realize the extractor is a series 80 notched extractor in a series 70 gun. Weird huh?
Regarding the low shooting. The instructions for My masada states that military firearms are sited in to cover the target point of aim. They also show the site picture to demonstrate. It's a universal specification. This proves to be a point as several military style firearms that we buy...I read this or that shoots low...I found the supporting information on the internet...(fact checked it myself!)
Oh, I don’t disagree with you sir. I probably should have said it shoots a little low for my liking. I like my handguns to have a center hold.
I'm looking at the MKIV version, it's a new but limited production model, and it has a steel mainspring housing (arched) and trigger. Oh, and stamped roll marks instead of laser etched. A little over $1,000. Tempting!
Hey dude, I'm back I know that you are the most critical when it come to these 1911's. I saw this one today in my LGS so here i am again! what's the difference between this and the Limited?

same topic on the grips with my nighthawk custom classic, but have to say that i do not care at all....cheers from germany. oh by the way ... ya got cool vids dude, keep it up !
Thanks man. Where are you in Germany? I was stationed in Mannheim in the early 90’s with 1st Armored Division 🤠
@@wyominggunproject Man thats crazy...I was born in Ludwigshafen right over the bridge and spend the first 35 years of my life in the in the twin cityies LU/MA....than moved to Landau ! Still missing that dirty old Mannheim. The word is small dude!
@@wyominggunproject friend of mine worked for the US army as a mechanic at the Worms Army Base, when they shut it down, think 1996 or so, he worked at Coleman Barracks MA Sandhofen. What Barrack were ya stationed at ? Cheers
I don’t know why colt just doesn’t go out of business .
They didnt stake the tube correctly. The assembler should have done it before adding the plunger. If its made in 2 stations they should have done it at the first station.
Be patient, Colt will be stepping things up, they hired new people under the CZ group.
My new colt rattles just like this.
Yep 😞
Best model of 1911
I bought one in 1983, series 80 in blue. The worst pistol ever. Colt is just a brand and history. After that I will never buy any colt’s
What you have there is a Colt government model. It’s made for performance not looks. I have one and it is an awesome weapon. If I was looking for a pretty one I wouldn’t have bought a government model.
I watched for 10 seconds and found out the problem !!! It"s not a Springfield 1911 A1 45 acp, lol , looks like it but falls short !!
All of these are really minor gripes. As for the grip safety, colts have always been loose.
My brother used to look at pictures and find everything wrong with it.. geez, you're fishing 🎣 it works great, right? under a grand doesn't get you perfection to your spec's
Tisas is a better 1911, I hate to say that. I do love Colt but apparently CZ is not great in QC
I hate it too but it’s the truth man.
your colt there is a quirky girl. she may not be the most orderly or best looking. but she is very loyal.
She certainly is unique 🤣
It's not the same quality it use to be.
Very True 🙁
I'm old. I got a good Python out of them in 1976, but it seems their 1911's have had QC issues for as long as I've been at it.
Wyoming, I’ll give a real project. Compare it to the Limited Edition.
I did just for you man. Video is coming. 🤠
Blemish , discount $100 off would be nice 😊
Agree 🤠
It's under $800 what do you expect
They aren’t American owned anymore, get a ruger
My auto ordnance is better than this. I've had it since 2011.
Backwards inserted plunger tube❗❓
Very depressing.
You’re telling me🤣
Sound like a guy who will never be in a situation that depends on life and death. Just return it spend 5k on a Wilson that you will never shoot as well.
Why? I already have 2 Les Baers and 2 Ed Browns and I shoot all my guns. Aren’t you the one commenting on a video of me shooting my guns on my RUclips channel? You are a 🤡
Look man it literally up to the consumer to inspect the product before buying. But with all those problems sounds like you got a lemon. And colt qc is hit and miss. And by the way 2nd generation Marine.
How did your fingers get so fat ?
It’s like the ones used in ww2. Boo hoo!
