  • Today it was a great sunny weekend and I was glad to be out on the water, not only for fishing but for some fresh air. I was desperate to get out on the water so today I decided to try my luck on the jetty. I usually don’t fish during the weekend but that day was my only free time so I just decided to take my free day on the water. At the beginning of my fishing session it was somewhat a frustrating start: the weather was hot and my bait kept on getting stolen by tiny snapper as well as getting weed on my rig as well. Fishing was slow today but I managed to hook up to a pleasant surprise......

    Great fish, I wondered how you were going to get it in through all the other lines. They always seem to be able to find a way to break you off if they can.

    A Yellowtail Kingfish is nothing more than a Bluefish on steroids. ;)

    • @BasicFishingNZ
      @BasicFishingNZ  8 лет назад +1

      lol haha i heard the bluefish r great to catch. here the yellowtail kingfish can grow very big: the biggest caught weighed over 50kg

      Well here on the east coast in the US the Bluefish is one of the hardest fighting fish lb for lb just like the Yellowtail Kingfish. They are one of my favorite fish to catch but I can`t say they are better than the YT but on any given day both fish are right up there with the best of them. Others that are on the top of the list with the best of them are the Marlins, Broadbill Swordfish and Tunas...But all these fish have amazing power, speed and endurance.

      @BasicFishingNZ  8 лет назад +1

      lol dont forget the dorado XD haha any fish that fights hard r amazing

    • @MrGb4ever
      @MrGb4ever 8 лет назад +1

      Basic_Fishing Yup forgot about them and other fisherman would say I forgot the Bonefish and Jack Crevalle as well. ;)....I can`t wait to catch my 1st YT! ...And by the way, nice catch and great video! :)

      +Basic_Fishing i usually go fishing on rat island it is the little island you can see from the harbour bridge it has really good fishing i usually get good sized snapper and you can also catch kingfish stingrays and parorae but you need a kayak to get there. just a suggestion on where you could go next.

      +William Lulham where is it? im interested in the spot but unsure where this island is, i searched up rat island, couldnt find anything

    • @coolasrc
      @coolasrc 8 лет назад

      Danny Su rat island is just what some people call it im not sure what the real name is. But it is in Auckland harbour and you can see it to your left if you go across the harbour bridge to the north shore. And i get to it by launching my kayak at sentinel beach which is near ponsonby.
