- 2 days ago I decided to head out to the wharf and try my luck on some kahawai. It was great going back to basics once again after having not much luck on surfcasting. Unfortunately I had a really rough day as every fish I hooked up to, kept on getting off. I ended up losing 3 kahawais altogether that morning. Today however I was able to land not only a good sized kahawai but also a kingfish as well which was released unharmed.

Hey bro nice vid. I just got back from great barrier island and I went landbased fishing off the rocks heaps with my friend. It was real fun. I landed a 23 pound snapper off the rocks straylining a whole kahawai tail lol. thats about 10 kilo. I also landed an 18 pound snapper. I followed your piper tutorial and caught some piper off the rocks as well. They got smashed by some snapper.
+Ocean Riley Films haha wow sounds like u had an awesome session lol i grew up hearing about how productive and excellent the fishing is around great barrier island. did u use berley in ur rock fishing session btw?

Hi. Nice video brother. What bait do you use for those fish?
i was using mullet and bonito
You should use a crab trap as a net to lift the fish up 😊
lol tbh i wasn't expecting a kingfish but kahawai aint so bad.
Great video
thank you for watching
Nice video subs..can you recommend types of softbaits and lures for kahwai? Thanks 👍
thank you for watching. just released a lure fishing tutorial video where i covered the basics on lure fishing including saltwater. ruclips.net/video/Gcf4BXgMB8Y/видео.html hope this helps lol
Good stuff bro
thank you :)
nice video :)
Great vid bro, Its good to see that you are letting all of those fish go.
But I think it is time to invest in a landing net so you dont loose so many.
(up north where I live we would use that size kahawai for a whole dead bait for a monster snaper).
Keep up the great vids
haha yep i really need a landing net alright XD but im looking for those drop nets and so far i had no luck. and thank you for ur comments :)
Did u release all the fish?
haha just kept the kahawai lol

@@BasicFishingNZ thank you!
Wha bait were u using
using a variety of both mullet and skipjack tuna for bait
what size hook do u use?
for recurve hooks i like to use 3/0 - 4/0 and for suicides 4/0 - 5/0
what line
20lb mono
what rod reel combo?
+Danny Su both r from shimano, one was a hyperloop 6000 with an eclipse telescopic rod and the other was a baitrunner 6000 OC and the rod is shimano triton. and the other rod I used in day 1 was a jarvis walker national
Hi Su
hi
Hey great video. I was wondering if u could give me some tips On how to get my channel seen because I’m stuck at 78 subs
Hi thank you for watching. I'm no expert but these r the tips I can give you to help to grow your channel. One is that try to upload many videos but make sure that you are uploading them in a balanced way for example I usually upload once a month. Two is that try to edit your videos to make it look interesting for the audiences to enjoy. Three is maybe to share your videos with friends and families or try to name your videos to make it look noticeable to people who are looking through youtube.
