My GOODNESS, what TALENT on one stage. This blew me away and made me very sad knowing that yet another great artist has moved on. I am so very sorry to hear of Andre's transition.
Absolutely blown away by this amazing performance. The voices and the instruments are sheer perfection. Love the heavy base sound. It doesn't get any better than this.
The young man, Andre Smith is from Lancaster, South Carolina and a classmate of mine. Andre, you will be truly missed and that voice was a Unique trademark of yours. I will always love you forever, Andre.
Anyone who knows good music will know..this is a performance..this mans has raw talent,he is himself not trying to be Donny lets us not compare but praise this man for his vocal, flawless performance of a classic.you go bro...you got chops man.....
Swear I wish she had taken this remix to the studio and released it as a single (with her AND Andre on the lead vocals though). This would have burned up the R&B and smooth jazz charts for real in the early 2000. 💜💫✨🔥🔥🔥🤌🏾
Listen! Aretha would Aretharize a song. And Luther would Lutherize a song. BUT when Roberta got hold of a song (even her own songs), that music degree would kick in and she would remix it to perfection. She is the Queen of the Remix for that reason. 🤗❤️💫✨
Seems a lot of people have been dying to know the name of the guy singing Donny Hathaway's part on this one. His name is Andre Smith. He was in Roberta's band for some years. These days you can catch him hosting "Open Mic" night every Thursday night at Ashford & Simpsons's Sugar Bar in New York City.
This is truly one of the last great performances of our time. Roberta and Donny started out in college and through all their different directions, they truly came back together again for a career booster for Donny and herself. Only wish the entire perfomance was shown.
@@RobertaFlackFans Do yo know where this performance is from? The footage looks like its from Roberta Flack - In Concert (2002), but I watched the whole video and it's not on it, even as a track listing.
@@summerislander4672 It’s from the same night this was just aired on tv which had more tracks i wish i had them myself the dvd that was released didn’t contain this or “It Might Be You”
@@RobertaFlackFans I knew I was't going crazy! I don't know why they cut this because this was the highlight of the whole show! I don't understand how this person has the footage of the show if it wasn't apart of the concert DVD. Do you know what the video this part of the concert is included on? I could try and find it if I have the name.
The best rendition of a song I've ever heard! Where is it from and is there anymore of it? Their wearing the same clothes from the 'Roberta Flack in Concert (2002)' but I watched the whole thing on dailymotion and this is the only part that's not in it - I was devastated!
Cont, This man sings with soul and Donny well Donny sung for the racial stress that his people were under, and unless someone comes from that kind of hurt, then they will never sing,as Donny sung many times, Quote, I'm singing this song for you" In case no one knows,"YOU", was the black race of people, the most oppressed people ever in history, who still feel Donny's pain today and deal with the problem of racism even today! No sorry,Danny does not cover this as well as Donny,Rueben Studdard
Ok Elliot Yamin is good, but there is a reason Donny was singing this song. He grew up in a time on racial prejudice at its height. Elliot does not even sing the song as good as this guy. He's a great singer, but there is no Caucasian person that will ever sing this type of soul, I know they think they have this soul, they try to sing like us, but unless their roots are in Africa, as Donny's were, it will only come half close never ever will it match. Music for our people - by our people!! Makes me real proud that we have such talent!!!

And it certainly cheers the soul up with all this going on in the world
😳🎤🎸🎹🥁❤️❤️Wow👍
The whole band, including Ms. Flack on that piano, showed all the way out! 💜💫✨🔥🔥🔥🤌🏾

And the crowd was just sitting there like watching a movie.
Can you please tell me who is this fine man with Roberta?
i love it!!!!!!
great vocals, hear gerald lev in there
I Think the Singer is called Andre Smith....
Wonderful job but missing the backing vocals to this song which i loved on original
I feel what that did with the classic, just doesn't stand up to other versions I've heard.
Who's the singer
it's miracle!!
Thank-You Jkane! I'm glad you understand :)
No one but Donny and Roberta should sing this song. I should sing it too but only in the shower......lol
please post the guys full name..
pls.
ta scouse
who is the guy singing this song?
The best part about this song was that mean bass line, and it was missing. A new one was added but i prefered the original.
yea yea!
And, I hate to say it, but I feel that this guy should not be upstaging Flack. She may be old, but she's still has tenure.
topppppppppppppppppppp
Didn't want to hear him sing wrong Tempo....

Hmmm... I must admit I cannot accept anything less than Donny, nice try though.
"Uh-uh!" especially with that overused hip hoppy "uh-uh" shtuff.
