Dude you gotta compare The Saboteur to GTA since that game is basically a combination of GTA, Assassin's creed, Hitman, and Just cause. Its amazing and really creative since it takes place near the start of WW2 in Nazi controlled Paris and is based on some true events. Plus it came out on steam yesterday on St. Patricks day which is fitting since the main character is irish lol

I think the combat, story, and overall setting of Sleeping Dogs really made it to me stand out more then any other open world game at the time. Besides gta 5 it was easily the most replayable. I’ve beaten the store maybe 5? 6 times? The game came out when I was in probably middle school or something and it was one of the most fun games I had played at the time. Seeing Jackie hanging from a chain, gut slashed open by a rival triad was horrific as fuck.

Sleeping dogs was a great game i remember the combat reminded me alot of yakuza but without the crazy heat actions and instead used more martial arts moves, which to be honest is alot better than swing punches in gta 5, i remember the cop/triad skill tree was a great feature as it had perks you can use on both gangs and cops.
I wouldn’t say better but rather unique. GTA V and Sleeping Dogs are games that are in their own lane. But 100% this game was underrated and didn’t get the attention it deserves.
I guess I'm a retard then because I see the driving as a weak point of the game, it can get awkward as hell. Yes it's not a "driving game", but there's a lot of driving due to the nature of the game. So I'll say it's passable, I far preferred to ride bikes in Sleeping Dogs, the story and the fighting more than make up for it though. It's a real shame that GTA doesn't have competitors anymore, possibly due to people brushing them all off as clones. I feel like that's why we're getting GTA VI next year and not 5 years ago, I really enjoyed the different take on the genre Sleeping Dogs took, balancing good guy and bad guy, but man, that fighting is way too good to ignore. Side content was mostly really good too, such as those random police jobs

How is that a problem? The game takes place in Honk Kong, not America. Guns aren't accessible to the average citizen and are hard to find (Pendrew in the game clearly explains that to you). Hand to hand combat is much more fun anyway since the gunplay isn't as well developed
Is this even a question people ask? It absolutely wasn't and that shouldn't even be a question. I love sleeping dogs but many aspects of it were very underdeveloped and there was a lot of missed opportunities that made it very mid over all in quality.
