  • Some people think the 2019 Audi S3 isn't a hot hatch purely because the RS3 exists. They need to think again. Its engine, gearbox, and AWD system combine to create an absolute weapon.

    Nice video! I have a ‘17 S3 Navarra Blue, love it! Done a straight pipe and running JB4, changed some aesthetics! Can’t get enough of this sleeper!

    Good review young man and I’ve just subscribed.
    I have the new S3 and love it. I’ve done 65000 miles in under two years and it and it’s been more or less faultless. Comfortable, fast, great tech and looks the part. Yes the Golf R is half a second quicker around a track but as I don’t do track days I can live with that!
    As for manual vs DSG I get the manual as I’d a manual Golf R but the shifts on the DSG are awesome and if I want to play I have the paddles.
    Final comment on MPG if anyone is interested. Low 20s if you’re being silly in it however I have seen over 50, yes over 50 on a long motorway trip where I wasn’t in a rush. Average over 65000 miles is just over 30.
    Thanks for the review.

    Great review, have an '18 S3 & love it, only gripe is we do not get the efficiency mode here in the states. Not seeing much difference if any between the 18 & 19's..

    Great review. Just subscribed. I’m getting the same model on lease next year and it can’t come quick enough. Did a test drive in one a few months back and was really impressed with the Quattro system and power delivery. That virtual cockpit looks great.

      @newmotoring  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you Lee! Amazing. What colour/options did you go for? The power delivery is brilliant, Quattro means you've got grip almost all of the time, and VC is very cool. Expensive, but cool!

      NewMotoring I have opted for the Mythos Black metallic as looks great. Also recents did a test drive for an Audi SQ5 and that was a great motor too. S3 is more in my price range realistically though

  • @ASRmann
    @ASRmann 6 лет назад +8

    S3 is a great car for the money, RS3 is obviously king of the Audi A3 hot hatch range but for me once the price point with options start creeping into the £50k + range it is simply too much to justify on what is still a hatchback. At that price my preference would be to look at something a bit more grown up.

    Yes, another nice review of my car. I have the same 2018 S3 sedan, with 3200 miles now. It is exactly like the one you're testing, Ara Blue Crystal Effect with the Black Out Option, 19" wheels, Sports Seat! yes and I wonder why you didn't mention the fact that if you chose that option you get a nice diamond quilt look, but it eliminates the power seat! You have to adjust it manually, so you paid over 600 pounds for some quilting and lost the power adjustment. Thanks Audi for sticking it to us.
    Also annoying is the reflection of the Chrome vent rings in the door mirrors, they should be black, or matt silver.

    • @newmotoring
      @newmotoring  6 лет назад

      Yes Victor! You've got a great spec my friend. True, you lose the electric adjustment, but I'd probably still keep the spec the same. Aside from those issues, are you enjoying it?

      Depends if you mean driving around town or going down the freeway. in my 2012 which is rated at 29.5mpg, just cruising along at 60mph I still get 28mpg and 25mph around town, the new ones I think are rated around 35mph but you'd probably get around 33-30, depends how heavy your foot is ;)

    Get stage 2 and beat stock RS3 on quarter mile.

    • @mshonhall
      @mshonhall 5 лет назад

      Honestly doubt that... but, even so, you’re at so much more risk with your engine at a stage 2.
      We went stage 1 with our RS3, and, we dynoed at 482bhp/505ft.lb. That’s a stage 1, 91 octane, with a warranty! So, they’ve got to be pretty confident it’s not going to stress too much if they’re going to provide a warranty.
      We’re adding an intake, Intercooler and exhaust at the end of March, all of which doesn’t void the warranty, and we should come in at around 530-550bhp/560-575ft.lb. All of this is considered stage 1.
      My point to all this: look at that power, that is barely adding stress to an engine designed for this. You squeeze too much out of a 4 cylinder by going Stage 2, just to try and keep up with the RS3, and you’re asking for trouble, let alone destroying your warranty in the process.
