    Most flashlights, you can gauge the battery level by comparing the brightness of the highest and 2nd highest levels. They will look the same when the battery is run down.

    Hi , great presentation. Thank you for sharing your observations and passion.
    Quick ques, your advice:
    PD36R or the Pro version?

    • @WildStuff
      @WildStuff  Год назад +1

      I haven't personally tried the PD36R Pro, but from looking at the spec sheet and listening to other reviews, the Pro does appear to be the better light. But not having tried it myself means I can't comment on its heat management, or how long turbo is useful for before stepping down, etc. I rarely use my PD36R anymore now that I have a PD35 v3, which is my current daily carry.

    Great review. I disagree about the charging port. I’ve had mine for 2 years now and I’ve never had a problem with the rubber port plug. I’d be worried about the o-rings and waterproofing if I had to open the light up every time I charge it.

    • @WildStuff

      My rubber flap is currently being held down with duct tape so it doesn't fall off.

      I super glue my rubber flap down and charge it by removing the battery no problem with the oring. I use my flash light everyday. 4 day bout 3 hours a day only have to recharge once a week tho I have gone 2 weeks I just like to have my stuff 100 percent starting a work week. This light get covered in oil and fuel and many other chemicals with no problem.

    PD36R v2 upgrade: Lower profile tail button, tail cap ridges are strongly magnetic and it can stand flat on the tail. That would be the perfect flashlight.

      Well, depends what you mean by 'better'. Some are smaller, some are bigger, some have more throw, some have wider flood beams, some have longer battery lives.

    I just bought a Fenix Bc26r(1600 Lumens) bike light, it has a Luminus SST-40 And I have another Magicshine Allty1000(1000 Lumens) light that has a CREE XP-L V6, Do you know how efficient it is compared to this one? In terms of light output, efficiency, performance, etc, which one is better and why?

    • @WildStuff
      @WildStuff  2 года назад

      Looking at the spec sheet, the BC26R appears to have a longer battery life, a wider beam and less throw than the PD36R. Its non-turbo modes (ie.- high, medium and low) are also set to slightly lower outputs than the equivalent modes on the PD36R, which will prolong battery life even further. So the bike light wins on battery life, but whether you prefer a wide beam or a more throw is a matter of preference. On rare occasions I like to go for a bicycle ride at night, and I use the PD36R as my headlight.

      @@WildStuff But how efficient is the SST-40? Is it better than a CREE?

    • @WildStuff
      @WildStuff  2 года назад

      @@twosix_00 I wouldn't have a clue, I don't pay much attention to specific LED bulbs - I review the flashlight as a whole. I'd suggest the candlepower forums would likely be a good source of information on that.

    So im stuck bettween Fenix PD36R and Olight Seeker 3, idk wich one to get, seeker 3 is bit more expensive but has 3500 lumens, but it can only be 4 min on turbo mode (3500lumens) while Fenix states that i can do 2h 50 mins on 1600lumens, idk what to choose help.

    • @WildStuff
      @WildStuff  2 года назад

      Can't help you too much with the Olight as I've never owned one, but I made a few observations from looking at their page. Some comparative notes here:
      PD36R: Tighter narrower beam, more throw (fewer lumens but almost twice the candela of the Olight). Universal USB C charging port, can charge with any USB C cable, but has annoying rubber flap that distorts over time and might need to be secured with duct tape after a few years. Has a lovely 2 way pocket clip.
      Seeker3: Wider, brighter beam, but less throw. Silly proprietary USB charging dongle (lose it and you're screwed), but no annoying rubber flap. No pocket clip that I can see.
      Also note, the stated 2 hrs 50 mins run time for the PD36R will not be at a solid 1600 lumens - it will drop down at some point to protect from overheating. The 2 hr 50 min figure includes time spent at lower output modes after downshifting. I can't tell you exactly how long it will go before downshifting - I just tried to test it now and got bored watching/waiting and turned it off after 8 minutes. However it might have creeped down a bit gradually without me noticing - I will have to try it on camera sometime, unless someone else here can tell us.
      Before you order either of these, be sure to also look at the Fenix PD35 v3, which replaced the PD36R as my favourite every-day-carry pocket light.

      @@josiprados6905 I can recommend the TK20R v2 if you're looking for a larger, high-powered tactical flashlight, great for security and self defense, etc, but if you're looking for a more compact everyday-carry-light for general usage then the PD36R is probably the best one from that list.

    Does it still take CR123s like older 18650 lights?

    • @WildStuff
      @WildStuff  3 года назад +1

      I don't know. This one takes a 21700 battery rather than an 18650, so perhaps if you had an 18650 adaptor and put two CR123s in it. That would be a question better directed to Fenix themselves though.

    Very disappointed. Within 11 months of buying Fenix PD36R, the rubber flap malfunctioned. The dealer in India said that its a normal wear and tear. Not acceptable,because it was sparingly used and a new one. I purchased it in April 2021. I keep my things in an immaculate condition. I have other models. Feeling disappointed and sad that it is not expected from a reputed company like Fenix. I will not buy models that has rubber flaps. I will look for models that does not have rubber flaps.
