Theory on the Castle Ghost: that looks EXACTLY like Walt’s position on the castle statue. I think one of the lights always pointing at the statue at night are reflecting back up to the castle, and the image is in the smoke. If you look, the smoke is there the entire time the image is present. It vanishes when it clears.

Steve - It seems awfully sharp and defined for a projection onto smoke. And I don’t think typically those projections on the castle really go out of bounds of the castle.
Also, assuming it’s the smoke from the castle, that’s the briefest window of time to play a projection for no discernible purpose or theme.

If you look at it’s rib cage it is sunken in unlike a lot of the other ones and some pieces of bone are missing and you can see the metal rods holding it in place. The “ghost” on the castle during the fireworks looks like lit smoke somewhere behind the castle. The space under the lifted arm certainly looks like the silhouette of a roof line. The body would be the space between buildings. It’s lit smoke somewhere behind and disappears when the light that is illuminating the smoke is dimmed or turned off. Our minds are trained to look for faces and human shapes and the smoke, lights and building rooflines created a “human” form.

Mark-Here's your sleep at night alternative- all of the ghost scenes showed here were filmed and intended as such. They were all filmed after hours and then edited in as an early viral marketing attempt for Disneyland. Considering the story of ghosts and these examples are still sighted rampantly- it worked.

theory about how the Snow White ghost showed up:
the Snow White ghost is the result of an unfortunate trick of the light caused by the camera panning over a less well-lit area (where the ghost is) while moving from one well-lit area (the cast members) to another (the statue). the camera doesn't adjust to the difference in lighting very well and shows an afterimage of the cast members on the darker area. as for why it doesn't show up when the camera pans back: the lighting on the statue is duller than the lighting on the cast members, plus the statue is illuminated from the sides while the cast members are illuminated from the front, making it easier for the camera to adjust when panning back which results in no afterimage of the statue on the place where the ghost was. (I'm not a videographer or anything, I don't know if this is actually possible, but I've had my digital camera show weird light-dark contrasts due to being unable to focus on a dimly lit area next to a brightly lit area, so that's what I'm basing this theory on)

There’s small things throughout the ride that are constantly being fixed so they come in and out. Also I’d never heard much about the griffin head or the man in web so thanks for that! The idea of Disneyland or Disneyworld being haunted is really unsettling to me. While they have a few creepy or scary rides I associate the parks with lighthearted joy. So the idea of the dead lingering in such a place just feels creepy right off the bat. Think that might apply to all amusement parks in general. They are usually so closely tied to fun and happiness that seeing them abandoned or hearing that they are haunted just feels odd and makes it creepier.

One that still she can’t explain happened in the old Disneyana/Market House (what is now Starbucks on Main St). There was a corner of the store that had books and some DVDs. No one was in the corner at the time since my mom was helping a group out at the counter. Suddenly a whole row of books fell off the shelf. My mom (being the troll she is) says “Walt, that’s not funny. We have guests” and the all of the other rows of books and DVDs come crashing to the ground. While people have talked about the mysterious figure on the castle, I do think it is a cast member. It varies a bit on the year, but if you think about it being one of the puppeteers, then having someone around that spot would make sense to make sure the operation, pulls and movement function properly. In fact, there are some cases in the shows where if the light hits it right, you can see the wire going across the castle. Its not obviously seen during the day and probably hidden and then placed up at night just before the show ends. It can also just be a cast member hidden in general to make sure things are going as planned. The operation of the fireworks at Disneyland is actually behind Toon Town USA in the general area. As far as the figure disappearing, it's probably once the smoke and lights begin to fade that the cast member leaves the castle to help with clean up or de-setting things. So it would make sense if the figured seemed to vanish, specially if the cast member is wearing a all black suit, as seen in a few show videos for puppeteers. I'm not trying to debunk this, but it's the most logical reason for why a person would be at the castle. I agree the rock formation one is by far the most puzzling and unexplainable, so I can could see that as a ghost or clever trickery of lighting made to look like a face.
I do believe the park is haunted, but it does seem like anything captured on film has been somewhat debunked in some form.
