  • David Pawson shows from 1 & 2 Corinthians that the early church, as in every other era, was not perfect. But seeing how their problems were handled is a help for us. Corinth was a port city with its attendant sins which had to be dealt with in the church. Without these letters from Paul we would not have the song of love in chapter 13 or the record of Jesus’ earliest resurrected appearances in 15. David says the biggest two battles in any church are how to keep the church in the world and how to keep the world out of the church. The world was sadly entrenched in the church in Corinth and Paul sent 1 Corinthians in answer to practical issues such as division among the members, immorality, members suing each other, idolatry creeping in, relationships and roles for men and women, remarriage after divorce and getting drunk at the Lord’s Supper - whereas 2 Corinthians deals with personal insults which Paul had suffered at their hands. David untangles some of the misunderstandings about 1 Corinthians. He teaches that we are not so much to slavishly copy the practice, as to find the principle that Paul is employing.
    David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawson.co.uk/search/...

    It’s so brutal to see how failings in interpretation and application in the past have produced/are responsible for the issues that the church and society are now plagued with today. Knowledge without understanding and truth without love (or really love with out truth).
    Wish I could have heard Mr./Dr. Pawson teach in person.

    26:50 corinth slaughter house was a religious place-the reason for the issue of meat offered to idols-just like halal meats go through pagan religious rite when slaughtered. thank you david for sharing this information. i was perplexed how this meat was an issue.

    1:59 how very true. external persecutions cause growthAZ in the ekklesia of god. it is problems from the inside that destroy: heresies, squabblings.

    Would you consider Simson as sinning, because he had long hair?

    • @DavidPawsonMinistry
      @DavidPawsonMinistry  Год назад +1

      Simson? or Samson ? Samson was a Nazarite, They must let their hair grow long so it was not a sin for Samson to have long hair

    Why did David teach that women should wear hat in his 'new testament messages 1 Cor. 10:16-1 Cor 11?"
    Why the inconsistency? Did he later discover a certain truth?

    • @22Carolin2012
      @22Carolin2012 2 года назад +2

      Yes, seems to be inconsistent. But there are some topics where his views changed after reading the word again and again and that has benefitted us also. I just want to know which audio/video came later. If someone could answer it.
      Anyways I've always been blessed by his teachings!! :)

    Please help me... There's a part where he says something like "a woman might wear a hat but she wears pants too".What... Does it mean women should not wear pants?

    • @DavidPawsonBahasaIndonesia
      @DavidPawsonBahasaIndonesia 2 года назад +4

      Hi I do apologies - this is British Humour and use of language
      David compares a woman's behaviour in Church to her behaviour at home and are they consistent. Its not a reference to a ladies or mens clothes
      David is implying some ladies he knew may wear a hat in Church as a sign of being faithful to the scriptures and as a sign of respect to her husband , and as a statement to others ....... but outside of church ie at home the same lady may not be respectful to her husband and may rule over her husband
      There is an English phrase - (it may be American also?) ...........'' a lady wearing the pants (trousers) ' .........means she is in charge ! .....it is not in this case a reference to the wearing of clothes .....to be clear also - this is the American use of the word 'pants' meaning Trousers

      it’s about the principle of it. you can be incredibly feminine in beautiful pants with a lovely top. you can be incredibly masculine in a skirt if you’re scottish!! it’s about embracing your identity as a woman or man of God.

    30:35 but then why did jesus wash the disciples' feet after, not before, the meal? you clearly mentioned this before that they lay on the floor with someone's feet next to someone's face (actually upper torso). it would need the washing then to be done before the meal if it was an issue of dirty feet. i am with you though that this was not meant to be a ritual after the lord's supper. unlike the lord's supper which was commanded "do this," there is no such command to do the act but to teach the virtue of humility and service.

    Norwegian Christian’s smoke like chimneys???
    Not Pentecost, Baptist, Salvation Army or any church with true Christians I have met in my life since the 1960s. Smoking and drinking has been totally forbidden.
    Today very few Norwegians smoke at all, only elderly people, non Christians.
