I have an second gen SBR MPX. That said, I took the MPX operator course at the Sig Academy a few years ago and a cop brought 4 MPX-K models to the class. Not one of them worked. 1 could not hold a zero with irons or a red dot. 1, when fired, the trigger would only reset when you put the gun on safe and the other 2 kept having various malfunctions. Mine came without the firing pin spring and calling Sig did not help. I had to ask the instructors at the operator course for a firing pin spring - they hooked me up. I have maybe 3,000 rounds through mine without an issue and love mine - I can shoot 4-5" groups at 100 yards, M4 ergonomics, ambi controls. But not everyone has been as lucky with theirs.
For a 60 year old gun, you gotta admit the MP5 is still up there. In terms of shooting performance alone, and in the case of the SD - sound and signature reduction, the MP5 is still the gold standard. Big testament to its design. Would love to see a modernized version of it from H&K

So far 500 rounds without a missfeed or jam
In the warehouse of gun stuff that I do not understand, front and center is the love of 9MM carbines. Once I asked Frank James, who wrote Project 64, the book on the MP5 (good friend of mine and lived just north of me in White Co.), about why 9mm carbines were so beloved by the gun culture. He told me "Kirk, sometimes guns are just for fun." Lived with that answer since then. Each to his own. Loved the video, don't understand the concept.
9mm is less concussive out of a short barrel than 5.56mm, or other rifle calibers out of the same barrel length. That's basically the only thing going for it. Otherwise they're just fun to plink with, especially on the cheap (or at least before the pandemic) and there's also some nostalgia value to certain PCCs like the MP5. Or you could be like me and remember SMGs being really fun to use in video games. Gotta love the MP5 and MP7 in Call of Duty, ha.

At every PCC match at least one MPX has had a weird jamming or feeding issue. Anecdotal, yes, just what I've seen. Lots of scorpions as well and I've never seen an issue with them.
I had this issue with mine initially. Turned out it was the new magazines, they had so much spring tension that the bolt struggled to strip the top round from the mag into the chamber. I worked the springs a bit with a wooden dowel then left them fully loaded for a few weeks. Never had another failure after that. I do wish SIG and/or Lancer (magazine manufacturer) would make this known.
@SmallArmsSolutions - for a sec I thought you'd put the CZ on top because it's your favorite. But I knew the Sig was the best and im glad you picked it.
CMMG RDB has low recoil, not as expensive as MPX, and more compatibility with the AR-15. Plus using Endo mags it’s a upper swap to switch from 556 to 9mm. Even heard it works with FRT.
I went with the scorpion. I trust CZ reliability with my life and it comes in cheaper than the SIG. Plus if you're shooting a supressor the CZ isn't blasting you in the face with gas.
I think if we look at law enforcement and military, then cross reference with competition shooting; we will find that the Sig MPX and CZ Scorpion will float to the top. The CMMG Banshee is a good range toy, but you don’t see top shooters using it. I can name at least three top tier and famous shooters off the top of my head using the Sig MPX, and I see the CZ Scorpion everywhere at USPDA competitions. I would need to see their input on why.
The Sig is very popular because its the cheapest of the softest shooting PCCs available. Technically the best gun out right now is the jp5 but that's a $3300 dollar gun so it's not as common. The Sig MPX uses a gas system (as opposed to the direct blowback you see in most PCCs) which makes it a very low recoiling PCC, comparable to an airsoft gun. The scorpion on the other hand, is very cheap, very common, and very reliable so it's used A LOT. However, it's also heavy on the recoil and competition shooters really care about having no recoil. For non-competitive use, there are better options than the finicky MPX or expensive JP5
Hiperfire makes a Hipertouch 24 and PDi triggers for the MPX that make you fall in love with the gun all over again with a 2.5 and 3.5Ib trigger pulls. What he also forgot to mention is the MPX has user replaceable barrels.
I’ve been looking forward to this video and really happy to finally watch it. Thank you. Side question, is that a radian weapons sticker in the back that’s been tilted by like 120 degrees?
I only have trigger time on the MP-5 series (normal, k, and sd) and the Colt pattern. I love shooting the MP-5 due to the amazingly soft recoil but as you mentioned, the human engineering is bad. I’ve also never shot a reliable MP-5. Mis-feeds and fte’s are common. I hated my Colt pattern SBR. Recoil was heavy, broke a bolt catch, and wasn’t particularly reliable suppressed or unsuppressed. I’d love to get an MPX but alas I’m out of work injured and finds simply won’t allow. Thanks for the awesome info Chris. Hope you and your family have a great weekend.
The “MP5” you shot…were they clones, Zenith, PTR etc? Or real H&K? I have a real H&K and I’ve never had reliability issues with proper ammo and maintenance
@@paulf7803 Real deal HK every single one. I’m assuming they’re just extremely high maintenance finicky guns. Glorious to shoot but apparently not easy to keep running 100%.
Excellent report, appreciate the hard work that went into it, but I can’t stand PCC’s! I want either a pistol or I want to rifle one or the other... like Cooper said, the pistol to defend and the rifle to attack. If I had to rock with one of them, it would be the MPX.
Not to mention that SIG is selling the 8" upper as an upper only: you either get a 4" 'pistol', or a 16" 'rifle'. If you want the more ideal 8" you basically have to buy it twice. Thanks, SIG, very cool.
@@andreivaldez2929 The 8 inch is only ideal if you never intend on suppressing it. The K barrels are ideal for keeping the length down with a silencer. To each their own.
Is it better to have the magazine in the front or in the grip? Also thoughts on the Saab Bofors Dynamics CBJ-MS and its "new" caliber that is supposed to be compatible with 9mm ?
Barely started the video but already am calling it: MPX. AR controls are superior and having them be fully ambidextrous is perfect, as well as not using direct blowback like most other PCCs on the market. Just wish SIG would sell the 8" barrel upper as a complete 'pistol' instead of only an upper right now. Absolute scumbags over there.
>Absolute scumbags over there chill lol. They stopped selling those because no one was buying them. Either get the upper, get the barrel from Sig, or get the barrel from ILWT.
Semi random question: How much should I worry about exposed muzzle threads on a gun? Should I just wipe them when I need to use them or will they need a deeper clean even if I only shot a few rounds?
@@SmallArmsSolutions see if you can find out why they use magpul furniture on some and bcm furniture on others I'm very curious about that. Also would like to know if I can change the 90° safety to the 45° that it is marked for
Price is where both the HK and Sig suck… that’s why I got the CZ.. simpler mechanics and cheaper parts.. maybe not as good as the Sig but I got all the cool upgrades over the Mp5 at a fair price
Same, but there's some reasons for 9mm over 5.56mm, especially with such a short barrel length. Absolute joke is the 16" pistol-caliber rifles. SBR laws are retarded.

@@beanguyensonr currently I think the banshee is overpriced. It is more of a $1200 gun not $1500. Also it is not as soft shooting as advertised. I have an fm9 with a taccom buffer that is softer shooting than the banshee. I had to add/change a lot of parts to the banshee to make it satisfactory. The charging handle is way too big on the 300 series. The trigger is bad. The sling loops on the rear plate cut into my hand. To soften the recoil I had to add the cmmg weights to the bcg and put a high power spring in the buffer tube. I wanted to add a heavier buffer but the buffer tube is about 1 inch shorter than mil spec, so you have to change the buffer tube to do that. The most satisfying set up that I had was the factory weight bcg, mil spec buffer tube and a 7.5oz heavy buffer. It ran soft and locked back on the last round on all ammo that I tried, but I changed it out for my current set up to keep the rip brace. I hope this helps. @@austinmitchell2746 I wanted it to be my favorite, but I have to say that I prefer the Mpx. I did get one of the inaccurate mpx’s, so I had to change the barrel and gas system but now it runs great. I have a gen 2 MPX, ILWT has done mods to it and it now performs well. but early on I also had a problem with breaking extractors. I see in the comments others have as well. do we know what caused the extractors to break? I shoot it suppressed, there are some suppressors that are terrible with this gun, my F1 seems to work very well with no gas in the face regardless of ammo.
You forgot to mention the mp5 40 cal and 10mm that have a last round bolt hold open release button. Exclusively made for the FBI and HRT. I own a 10mm clone with the last round bolt hold open, and so can you just go to hkparts and order a 40/10mm receiver flat , and pick a builder.
Based on the information given I think I would put the Colt at four and MP5 at three. In the 4 steps you counted for the MP5 you skipped inserting a magazine as a step for the other SBR so it’s only a 1 step difference, not two.
Why do so many people complain about the stribog magazine being a straight feed magazine and not being curved, but folks love the colt/modified uzi mags?
I am definitely more of the Scorpion being #1, as for the MPX being #1 of your choice, I didnt like for exactly the same reason you liked it, the M16 battery of arms To me, I have no doubt it the M16 battery of arms is one of the best for practical use but I find it also incredibly boring. The MPX looks like an AR type platform, nothing about it excites me. I know it works and its a good gun, but its not exciting, it doesnt look good or special The Scorpion however, looks cool as heck AND functions amazingly for me (scratches my MP5 itch too) but technologically speaking direct blowback cant compare to the gas piston of the MPX of course. But given the ergos for me, the looks, the functionality, the accuracy, the cost, the Scorpion still rates highest to me
I guess I'm an mp5 fanboy, but why mention all the aftermarket AR parts that can go on the colt style platforms when you can do nearly the same on the mp5? Also, you can get clones for way less than 2800. I am interested in the cz, though.

The MP-5 should have been chambered for the 221 Remington Fireball. That would have pre-dated the 5.7x28 by half a century and been far superior in performance,
@@borkwoof696 No, out of that short a barrel it would have been the same, but remember the MP-5 isn't firing a 5.56. It's shooting a 9mm. An MP-5 in 221 would have had far higher ballistic performance over the 9mm but in the same package.
The MPX is a dumpster fire. 3 generations and it’s still a mess. The scorpion also sucks. Terrible grip and recoil is atrocious. The MP5 is 3k and still gets purchased all day long. Gun has had minimal upgrades since 1964 and has one in the Smithsonian with 300,000 rounds documented and still going. In full auto, nothing touches its performance.
Everyone has an opinion.mechanically, you are way off on performance. The MP5 is rarely purchased. It is way out of date and obsolete. It was be as t out in India by the Colt 9mm SMG. Many just have nostalgia over the MP5. The MPX and Scorpion are the top selling SMG’s in the free world. Trigger, recoil, accuracy and human engineering, mp5 is at the end of the line. It’s WW2 tech.
This presentation and a couple of comments made me think of the M14 and the bag of bullshit sold with it in terms what it can do, when it was Stoner’s rifle that could do multiple things.
Would love to see you assess the B&T APC9 vs. these. I have a Micro Scorpion, which I love, and only passed on the APC9 due to cost, of both the gun and its mags. When I was shopping for a PCC, the MPX was relatively new, and there were a lot of problems with it (as usual with SIG any more). A lot of those problems have been fixed, but I think the gas blowback with a suppressor is much worse on the MPX vs. both the Scorpion and APC9. Great video, as usual!
Plastic hammer, horrible trigger, debris blows back in your face, beard pulling stock, unthreaded barrel. It's a fun lightweight range toy, but there are way better 9mm options available.

It’s a sig.... beta test on their customers is SOP.
@SmallArmsSolutions - for a sec I thought you'd put the CZ on top because it's your favorite. But I knew the Sig was the best and im glad you picked it.
Outdated or not, that MP5 is still the holy grail of subguns in my eyes.

CMMG RDB has low recoil, not as expensive as MPX, and more compatibility with the AR-15. Plus using Endo mags it’s a upper swap to switch from 556 to 9mm. Even heard it works with FRT.
I wanted a PCC and all of these were in the running except the mp5. I went with a PSA AK-V and am glad I went that route.
I would love one of those, I just think it looks so cool. Plus, it’s an AK. What’s not to love?
I went with the scorpion. I trust CZ reliability with my life and it comes in cheaper than the SIG. Plus if you're shooting a supressor the CZ isn't blasting you in the face with gas.
Great vid. I really enjoyed the comparison.
More vids like this in the works?
Out of those, yeah I agree. B&T though....
I’ve been looking forward to this video and really happy to finally watch it. Thank you.
Side question, is that a radian weapons sticker in the back that’s been tilted by like 120 degrees?
No FoxTrot 9? Change the trigger in it, it’s good to go. Plus it takes Glock mags.
B&T APC-9 looks pretty good.
Love my MPX. bought a year ago. Then the ammo disappeared. Only shot 4 times. Timney trigger is awesome
I used to own an MPX, I got rid of it. I like the scorpion better.
@@paulf7803proper ammo? A gun should fire with any trash ammo if it's a good gun.
Excellent report, appreciate the hard work that went into it, but I can’t stand PCC’s! I want either a pistol or I want to rifle one or the other... like Cooper said, the pistol to defend and the rifle to attack.
If I had to rock with one of them, it would be the MPX.
I'm looking forward to seeing if angstadt arms will ever get their mdp 9 out.
Is the Scorpion Evo what the UMP should have been?
Maybe if it came chambered in 45 ACP.
Great video, thank you for sharing your experience.
The MP5 does not have a locked breach. It utilizes a roller delayed BLOWBACK system.
The bolt is locked at firing
The MPX K (4.5”) are selling from $2000 to $2500 at present time.
Thoughts on the DBB ones like the APC9?
Congrats on the weight loss. Do you think you can do a part 2 including the Kriss Vector and the AKV?
Out of the pc9 carbine, sub 2k, cz, mpx, and bog I would prefer the mpx. I love my 9 mm pccs but imo sig pulls out ahead of the rest.
>Absolute scumbags over there
chill lol. They stopped selling those because no one was buying them. Either get the upper, get the barrel from Sig, or get the barrel from ILWT.
out of these bunch I would say the MPX, but I personally love my lwrc smg 45. But I get it had so.e growing pains but those are fixed now.
Semi random question:
How much should I worry about exposed muzzle threads on a gun? Should I just wipe them when I need to use them or will they need a deeper clean even if I only shot a few rounds?
Would have liked to have seen a CMMG with their radial delay locking system in the shootout.
Very similar to any Colt-Pattern 9mm
@@SmallArmsSolutions any way that you can review the Springfield Saint Victor
@@smokedogg19821 I have attempted to get one from Springfield. Waiting to hear back.
People fail to mention the grip angle on the Hk Sp5. It needs to be more vertical and there is no way to change it.
Magpul makes grip modules that you drop your trigger into changing the grip and safety
Great overview sir, thanks for the detailed info.
I'd rather run a rifle caliber in that size package, especially since we don't have full auto.
Same, but there's some reasons for 9mm over 5.56mm, especially with such a short barrel length. Absolute joke is the 16" pistol-caliber rifles. SBR laws are retarded.
Yep, that's why I sold my cz evo
Only reason I got a PCC was for indoor range use and plinking.
PCC or PCC types aka big pistols are great for unarmored short range engagements ie what most of metro usa looks like currently
Is the PSA AKV9 is pcc? If so is my favorite out of the bunch to shoot (never fired an mp5 though...)
That would fall under Colt pattern type SMG along with any AR9 style.
I have the KP9 from KUSA and it’s pretty nice. Works as well my MP5SD
Damn bro. Your the shit. Ive watched a hundred gun vids. Have subscribed to at least 20 channels in the past months. Your by far my favorite. This video was the shit. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time. 🤜🏾🤛🏾
I would love to see a comparison of the Mpx, banshee, and apc9. I have all 3 and have likes and dislikes of each.
mind if I ask what your issues with the banshee are? I'm considering it myself
You got all three. You tell us!
It is a well built and reliable firearm, but it is not what all the youtubers say it is.
Is the apc your favorite or what
@@austinmitchell2746 I wanted it to be my favorite, but I have to say that I prefer the Mpx. I did get one of the inaccurate mpx’s, so I had to change the barrel and gas system but now it runs great. I paid $1600 for my Mpx, so it was still less than the apc9, even after the upgrades. I just got an mp5 and if you are looking for soft shooting it is the way to go. It is as soft as advertised.
Would the Beretta CX4 a number 5 or not even on the list?
These were my top 3 but had to discuss the MP5. This is only my opinion.
Love the MPX but still want an MP5. HK should be slapped for their prices. Like the MP5
HK hates the poors…and the middle class…and the upper middle class.
I’m middle class and have 2 of them from HK! 😬

Awesome video. I agree with your assessment 100%.
You are a wealth of information. I like and appreciate your videos.
Many Thanks.
I am definitely more of the Scorpion being #1, as for the MPX being #1 of your choice, I didnt like for exactly the same reason you liked it, the M16 battery of arms
To me, I have no doubt it the M16 battery of arms is one of the best for practical use but I find it also incredibly boring. The MPX looks like an AR type platform, nothing about it excites me. I know it works and its a good gun, but its not exciting, it doesnt look good or special
The Scorpion however, looks cool as heck AND functions amazingly for me (scratches my MP5 itch too) but technologically speaking direct blowback cant compare to the gas piston of the MPX of course. But given the ergos for me, the looks, the functionality, the accuracy, the cost, the Scorpion still rates highest to me
Love your work
Awesome selection of pcc! No B&T?
Where is the love for B&T?
Nice collection of pcc
I guess I'm an mp5 fanboy, but why mention all the aftermarket AR parts that can go on the colt style platforms when you can do nearly the same on the mp5? Also, you can get clones for way less than 2800. I am interested in the cz, though.
I have Cz and untill I get the safety lever change,it ain't any where near as nice .I saw one vid where he just took a dremel to it.I have had it a while, not getting time with it.

@@KnifeCursed I like your list, personally would just add the PWS to it. Their adjustable long stroke system make it one of the best (possibly *the* best) AR platform suppressor host. Garand Thumb and Colion Noir have some content on this. Also, their customer service is excellent so it's nice seeing them do well. LMT is awesome, I'm looking at their MARS-H rifle in 7.62x51/.308 top tier stuff.
@@MiamiVice. Adjustable gas is something I really wish LMT would do on their DI guns for suppressed/unsuppressed.
The MP-5 should have been chambered for the 221 Remington Fireball. That would have pre-dated the 5.7x28 by half a century and been far superior in performance,
Would that have really been a significant step above a 5.56?
Man, I said that in the late 80's as a 17 year old gun nut. Lol. Great gun minds must think alike.
@@borkwoof696 No, out of that short a barrel it would have been the same, but remember the MP-5 isn't firing a 5.56. It's shooting a 9mm. An MP-5 in 221 would have had far higher ballistic performance over the 9mm but in the same package.
Totally agree. MCX #` CZ #2
I don't know about any of these.

I prefer the MCX or CMMG, I had a Scorpion, the grip angle is terrible even with replacements, has no QD sling adapters, the safety on the right needs to be shortened to not dig into your hand, the Scorpion wasmt in my collection long
