  • Honda SS90 - Honda s90 review (test ride ) of this great little motorcycle[ REVIEW and RIDE ]
    Amazing to think that this bike is from 1968, with its DOHC and happy engine this thing goes like stink for a 90cc! Stay along as we look over its raw visual conditions and then finally hop on her for a quick spin around the block!

    Single overhead cam like all the 90s and top speed was 55 mph, and that took a while...

    My S-90 did 70mph. When I bought it and put it in my truck on the interstate!

    1st bike a 1966 S90. Great bike, 55 mph cruising around town but capable of more, super mpg (I remember ~ 120mpg) and carb ran great without constant work.

    Was my first bike back in the 80s in High School. 69 Model but otherwise identical to this one. The places that little bike took me and the memories made on it.

    The Honda S90 was a single cylinder. Therefore it features a single overhead cam. The pipe belongs on a CL 90 and the heat shield is missing from it. This could cause severe leg Burns. The cylinder above the carburetor contains the air filter. Properly tuned this unit would Propel you down the road at a modest 60 mph.

    1st bike was a 1969 S90, bought it in 1971 for $250 had somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 miles. Loved that bike. Put a quarters worth of gas in and it would last around a month.
    I had to have it governed down to 5HP, because of my age, but that device didn't make it out of the Honda dealers parking lot.

    The guy that put it together knows them well, except for which way is up on the chrome tank side panels.

    Nice bike, I have a 66 s90. This one looks pretty good with the high exhaust. I noticed the side panels on this bike are on the wrong side meaning the knee pads are upside down

      My dad had one, and you're correct, the fuel tank chrome panels are wrong sides, so they have to come off, flip the honda logo medallion and install them on the other side... not hard to do, and would look way better fixed the right way around..

    Great video! Thanks for postings. I have one of these in my garage, black as well. Last time I remember it was run was 25 years ago. I think I remember I wax lucky if it hit 40mph 😆

    It has a single overhead cam, but it does have dual cam lobes! The CL90 exhaust looks good but definitely needs protectors. Good thing it has CL90 air filter cuz it can withstand the heat from exhaust unlike the S90 would.

    My first was a 65 S-90. Would do 67 mph if you laid down. This exhaust is from a CL-90 I believe. Not stock for sure

    yep single over head cam only, not double. nice bike although 90 cc still is barely adequate for today normal road traffic

    Lovely, I have a '68 125cc DOHC conversion in black with a matching '68 VW Beetle and '68 Cimatti C100. I call them the Axis of evil.

    It is a CL90. Absolute top speed downhill 55mph. On the flat maybe 50. Too much chrome to be an S90, but it has an S90 fuel tank.

    • @ProfectionProfected
      @ProfectionProfected Месяц назад

      Wrong, it's an S90 with a CL90 exhaust. The speed varies depending on the weight of the rider and sprocket ratio. Mine will do around 55 with my schnauzer riding in front of me.

    Love the ride along but next time do at least a little research before you review a bike. That is an S90 not SS and it has the wrong pipe on it, those also will not do over 55mph and are single overhead cam not double.

    The Honda S90 did NOT have a DOHC engine. It was SOHC.
    Don't know where you got that DOHC stuff from, but it is WRONG.
    Wish I still had my 1966 S90. It was red.

    • @riskyron1416
      @riskyron1416 2 года назад

      Correct! There would be no reason for dual overhead cams on a single cylinder engine.

  • @pasdutout4690
    @pasdutout4690 Месяц назад

    Single cam has 2 lobes of course. And it will go 50 mph downhill but not on a windy day., And my grandma had balls.
    Then RUclips is at least 50% crap , as usual..
    These engines were NOT even half as tough as mythology says : poor valves would expire about the time the exhaust pipe
    rusted through , that is 10 -15 K at best, , nothing remarquable. (even if better than the days ' absolutely miserable competition ).
    Today's Grom,, Trail have much better engines , as materials have evolved.

  • @captlarry-3525

    Single overhead cam...wrong muffler ( that is a CL-90 can) points to missing rubber on kick starter and rusty engine barrel saying "nice condition", levers are wrong, gear lever is japanese rocker type ( not sold in US ) dented fender also "nice" wrong fork boots, tank and frame repainted but not the chain guard. Top speed with stock gearing is 62 US Statute Miles Per hour .. total shit rider doing demo cant tell if he cant shift.. or the clutch is slipping... total BS... 100 KmHr ( 62) is all it does with stock gearing. S-90 front brakes were just fine.. so this is a poorly prepared example.
