Lesson: always get extra tiles with installations, and store somewhere incase of damage or such. And don't use tile as leverage with a sharp chisel! LOL...
Everything I did at our house I kept an extra box of tile and they all went up on a platform in the Attic out of the way. Same for the hardwood only I kept it in condition space
For some reason when they drill those holes they always try to drill it middle of the grout, as if to damage as little of the tiles as possible but then the end result is tiles on both sides of the grout are damaged and need replacing…. Please if you are installing a grab bar or what not, just try to damage fewer tiles instead
I had the same problem in my shower. Bunch of cracked tiles from the 50’s. I looked on eBay but the prices were outrageous. So I started to replace them with tumbled travertine tiles. It has a very Romanesque look to it. In the future I could replace all the tiles at my own pace.
I wouldn't go so far as to stop watching the show but I agree that he has absolutely no screen presence. It's like watching an unfunny version of Hank Hill. And he hasn't really improved over the years so I hope the producers aren't planning on him being the replacement for Tommy.

Nice easy repair. When mixing the powdered tile adhesive, it makes mixing easier if you add the powder to water instead of water to the powder.
Oh you have spare tiles, great, I was going to suggest this yellow tile I found. I do enjoy this show for over 25yrs 👍

Why was the pencil eraser used in cleaning up the grout? Is it a manufacturer's recommendation?

How would you repair broken tile IF you don't have extra replacement tile?

Just fill the holes with a filler color same as the tile.

Why not attach the tile to the wall with construction adhesive?
Why caulk and not grout?
It was grout in a tube.
They skipped over the entire part I came to watch the video for, which was the actual removal of the tile.
A heat gun would have softened that mastic and the board would have not ripped
Two weeks later, the homeowner trips on a banana peel, breaks his hip, and needs his grab bars back. Oops. (Didn't happen, just supposing)
