As a vet no thanks needed I did what I felt needed as following 2 older brothers. My older brother spent 18 months in Vietnam I had to follow him so proud of my older brothers.
My brother served two terms in Nam. It is sad how the soldiers were treated so bad when they got home. A lot of soldiers's minds were messed up when they got home. My brother never got better. God bless you Don for remembering the ones who gave everything for this country and the ones serving now.
@Karen Partin Yeah, that was such a horrible treatment of people who served in a war. I'm glad we support our troops now, and it's partly why I make sure to thank someone if they've served. You never know how much it might mean to someone to hear those two words, as I found out. I am sorry for the treatment of your brother--that must have been brutal for you to see happening to him as it was happening.
Karen I am so sorry your Brother came home from serving his country and never recovered from the physical or mental wounds he suffered. My late husband also served 2 tours in Vietnam. He served 20 years and even after all that time, had flashbacks. He too wasn't given a welcome home befitting our soldiers. It is so good to see that now they are. There needs to be more men like your Brother, my Husband, our Fathers, standing for our country. God Bless You honey. I don't know if your Brother is still with you, if he is please tell him he is valued and cherish by his Country from all of us.
Hey Don I’ve been subbed for a while, love your work. Have you done any Mandolin Orange? They have a great song about the civil war called Wildfire. I think it would make a great reaction song.
God Bless him! It's hard to hear a Veteran of WWII was not thanked. But then I think back then it was assumed the men and women knew their country was thankful and proud. My Vietnam Veteran husband did not expect to be thanked but neither did he expect to be spit on.
Our veterans definitely don't get the respect and support that they have earned, and truly deserve!! "I love my country, I love my guns, I love my family, I love the way it is now, and anybody that thinks their gonna change it has to come through me. That should be all of our attitudes. Cause this is America, and being a Country Boy is good enough for me." - Charlie Daniels ❤️🐘❤️
💯 Don! LOVED this song and every word of it. It truly relayed the heart and soul of this country and that's what it's all about, no matter what your job or piece of the puzzle. I've also never understood those that take our freedoms but don't want to be here, go on then! After seeing how third world countries run up close, I literally wanted to kiss the ground as soon as I got off that plane on US soil again! Very powerful review!
You have a fan for life. You talked about a WW2 vet of Leyte Gulf. I am a US Navy Vet. I served on USS Leyte Gulf. She was just decommissioned last week. Im glad to have served, and no thanks is required.
@tomneff7102 Wow, this is one of the most heartwarming posts in the 6+ years I've been doing the channel. What a pleasant surprise hearing from someone who was actually there, and I am so glad I mentioned the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the reaction and that it meant something to you. Some of the lesser-known battles of WW2 could have changed the outcome, and from what I'd read about how that battle played out the Japanese plan almost worked. I am grateful it didn't, all thanks to you and your shipmates. Welcome aboard the channel, sir!!
I know I'm late responding to your video. But just wanted to say loved your reaction and review of Red White and Blue the. I had a chance to see them live when they first released this song back in 2003 i seen them in Atlanta GA and they played this song
I have taken my little grandson to the Vets little table for him to buy one of them poppies (made out if fabric now) every single time they're there... at least once a year....and he will usually salute them ---- there have been tears in the eyes if those old soldiers. I've also had to call-out plenty who pretend they don't see them as they pass their table.... apparently $1 is too much for too many to pay for their freedoms ..., This is money used for the Vets to fly to DC to the wall while still on this earth. So to all the Veterans out there ----- There are still Americans who are grateful beyond words and are aware of the cost for us to be as we are today; as well as ones who pass on to our future generations so that perhaps someday those "thanks" will once again need not be said but demonstrated for all my to see and know.
@Kay Coe Good stuff right there. I made the decision years ago that I was gonna honor not only the veterans, but anybody who is taking their time to stand outside for hours for something they believe in, I'll give a couple of dollars just to support them in their effort. But the veterans are the easiest ones for me to give to.
You should react to “That Ain’t My America”, by Lynyrd Skynyrd off of their “God and Guns” Album, it also says what you said in the introduction of this song and it’s sad that people don’t respect our armed forces people! I said that to my dad one time and he said and I quote “I don’t consider myself a veteran, because I didn’t fight in any war!” And ever since then I’ve seen my father in a new light!
@Tommy Ward Yeah, there would be some pushback on it, no doubt. But I like the part about being free, even though it's in reference to him dumping his girlfriend. Ouch!!
Great song and loved your commentary and stories! How someone managed to pull something offensive out of this song is actually quite remarkable. Petty, malicious, and delusional but still a serious feat of stretching the imagination. From what I gather, this song is considered to be an "anti-welfare" song. The lines about working hard, paying your taxes, and serving in the military is considered insulting to those who don't work, didn't serve, and instead of paying taxes, utilize social welfare programs such as food stamps. Of course, the actual stamp booklets no longer exists as they were offensive and created embarrassment, so now, they got slick looking credit cards. But the nail in the coffin was the lines "So what are they complaining about? If they don't like it they can just get the hell out!" See, the "they" wasn't very specific which left an opening to insert an insulted party... The "they" could now mean just about anybody... Notice the two thumbs down on today's reviews? That's someone that became the "they" because all the positive things you said must be against them in some way. And just think, as your channel/subscribers grow, so does the amount of those "theys" :-(
@Robert Carter I considered that one, and will have to hit that one up next holiday since I'm on my out the door in a few minutes to my sister's place for a cookout. A few folks mentioned it in the comments so it's on the list. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!

@0952Rick Though you say no thanks needed, thank you for your service anyway, my friend, and I thank your brothers through you.
My brother served two terms in Nam.

Great song! Thanks for playing it and the shout out. And a SPECIAL Thank You to All Veterans who have served our Country!
Absolutely Don.
People need to appreciate this country they are blessed to live in.
They need to be thankful for our constitution.
Amen! People sure do like to be able to say what they want to ---- if it wasn't for them, they may not be able to.
My Dad fought in the Korean conflict. Nobody hears much about it,but 36,914 American soldiers died there. (1950 to 1953 )
That is so true. My oldest Brother was in Korea before he went to Vietnam. He said in many ways Korea was worse for him than Vietnam.
Happy Memorial Day to all you American patriots. From a northern neighbor. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
And yes thank you all for your service.
@Wayne Thera Thank you for the kind words, my True North and Canuck brother!! Also, welcome to the club!!

I think you're right. There's an extreme difference in the patriotism of then and now, for sure.
God bless all vets and thank you. Love this reaction.

@jen You're welcome, and welcome to the channel!!
Letters from home would be a good one as well
Nicely done Don. It's been awhile but I can recognize a Hughie Thomasson lick anywhere.

React to Jon Pardi's new single called heartache medication. Great bakersfield country song which immediately kicks of with fiddle.

Freebird is a break up song and although it's one of my all time favorites lol I just think it would work!!!
@Tommy Ward Yeah, there would be some pushback on it, no doubt. But I like the part about being free, even though it's in reference to him dumping his girlfriend. Ouch!!
@@RockN2Country cool way to dump her though lol
@Tommy Ward Right? I mean, how often do you get a chance to announce the breakup in the national anthem? Ha!!

@Robert Carter I considered that one, and will have to hit that one up next holiday since I'm on my out the door in a few minutes to my sister's place for a cookout. A few folks mentioned it in the comments so it's on the list. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
You definitely have to do Merica by Granger Smith and Earl Dibbles Jr
You need to do Blake Shelton's Gods country!! People are saying he went back to his roots on this one
You are right, this is a good song!
Don react to the statler brothers more than a name on a wall
