  • A simple tip that once helped Jim Furyk maintain his rhythm. There were a lot of moving parts in his swing, so he needed it! But this 80% drill is a way to rediscover that silky tempo that helps the ball fly straight and true.

Driver was a silly example, he said go higher than the club you would usually use. Then he said he went shorter than he normally wants to hit. Well that’s the whole idea, but what club can he go up to from a driver? A better example would have been on a par three where you normally may hit a 6 iron, but you instead use a four and slow down your swing speed.

I know exactly what you’re saying but get the driver in your hand and most of us swing way too hard. Sometimes I will use my driver even on par 3’s and it slows down my swing. I then try and do that same swing on 4’s and 5’s with just a little bit more speed. Slowing down just that little bit helps me to hit center hits and goes further than you might think. I’m a player that gets to a par 5 and always thinks get on in 3.
