welcome to the loc community! some advice i would give is that less is more! as well as.. 1)Water/ rose water for moisture, any oil of your choice and aloe vera gel for retwisting (it’s water based and will not leave any build up like wax can😉) 2) take lots of pictures and videos for memory sake and motivational purposes 3) do your best to think positive and involve a lot of self love during the journey 4) be patient 5) have fun 😊
Welcome to the loc gang!!! Your starters are so cute, you can tell your loctitian is a true professional. I’m 15 months in and it’s hands down been the best decision I’ve ever made with my hair. Enjoy every stage of the journey!
Welcome to the loc community, I hope you enjoy your stay and you NEVER leave ❤. I've been loc'd for five years and have been getting my color professionally done for 20yrs and I can say that the decision to color your hair beforehand is major key 🔑! Trying to color hair once it is loc'd typically causes spotty inconsistent color patterns. Also, you do not need a lot of products. Heavy gels and creams will cause build-up. Since you are new, I would suggest an herbal rinse to use in place of a cream conditioner and a mousse for retwists and a light gel to lay down edges, not baby hairs. Lastly, invest in cute heandbands and jewelry and stay away from styling as this can delay the loc'ing process. Products are applied to hold a style in place but does not speed up or add to the loc'ing process. Water will be your best friend so remember to try and not go more than 2wks without washing. If you are afraid your locs may unravel, have your stylist wash them for you. Also be mindful or frequent retwisting as some hair types this could cause thinning. Since my locs are mature, I retwist and get my roots touched up every eight weeks. I've followed you a short while so I know this journey will go great for you. Hope you're okay with my two cents ❤
