- Our first RV camping experience at James Island County Park in Charleston SC. After spending a summer full-time RVing in Pennsylvania we have started our trip south to Texas for the winter. We stopped at James Island County Park Campground for the weekend to visit some friends and family along the way. What an amazing campground located conveniently ten minutes from Charleston SC. Great video! We stayed at this park one time a few years ago during their Christmas lights/festival and really enjoyed it. Your video is making me think of scheduling a trip to go back. Safe travels!
It will be our go to campground when we are in that area for sure. Little sad we just missed out on the lights this year by a few weeks
@@WhyWait We thought - how cool could Christmas lights be? Lol - we ended up driving it (free if you are in the park) every night and walking across to the festival. One part was walking through the woods surround by lights in the tree. Very beautiful and do recommend!

Thanks for sharing info about the park. We traveled from Ohio and stayed at the park this week. Very nice park and as of 6/24 the cell coverage is better. 1 bar ATT and 3 bars using a cell booster.

I really enjoy your videos and posts! Always informative and entertaining. We have lived on James Island since I graduated The Citadel in 1985. We absolutely love James Island County Park campground. Every time we get a new camper our shakedown cruise is at the park since its so close to home. We have started a new family tradition of booking a few days right through Christmas Eve. We have our daughter and Son in Law with us and getting to experience the Festival of Lights and camping puts us in the Christmas spirit. Next time you're down hit us up!

We traveled to Ireland for our honeymoon about ten years ago. Fell in love with it over there!
That is a great park to stay in. I took my grandson a few years ago during the Christmas light festival. It is amazing! My grandson wanted to go for the rock climbing wall. He had a wonderful time.
The Christmas lights are amazing aren’t they! I want to try that wall someday.

We are southeast coasters for sure. Savannah, Charleston, that whole area is pretty much where we have been most of our lives. Beautiful cities and I highly recommend them! Now it’s time to explore the west for the first time! Check out those desserts you are always hiking in!

We love this campground. We visited here and Myrtle Beach State Park on the same trip.

@@WhyWait We only stayed at Myrtle Beach State Park, but it was great. The campsites aren't right on the beach, but I'm okay with a little walk to the ocean. Plus, it is a BIG state park with A LOT of campsites, so it's not too secluded but it didn't get too loud. However, the only thing we didn't like about the park was it seemed like everyone had a golf cart. On the other hand, they do have an amazing activity for kids where they go to the pier and a park ranger teaches them about marine life. I would go back.

Haven't been to SC yet. But maybe this year since we're going to get the TT Collection in a few months and get our feet wet with the traveling and SC falls in our Zone since we're based in South Florida.
Yaaas we do agree with the slow travel. That's our plan to. I don't understand why people move so fast. Why rush? When we hit the road full-time, we plan on staying in any given city/state for months at a time to take in the local life feel too.

I eventually want to do travel work. My profession also is pretty handy with it, but I'm waiting on my daughter to get a little older.

Wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere to park in the vicinity of Charleston, not to camp just for a day trip.
We visited before but had an SUV, and remember some of the roads being quite narrow. Hoping to avoid getting in a pickle with a 31'RV.
