Like there is a lot of dialogue but not in a negative way because you make it so interesting and enjoyable to look at 🤩 And HOLY GUACAMOLE THE DESIGNS? gorgeous I tell you 😍 the black streak in Atsushi’s hair, how everyone has a light in their eye accept for Dazai (😭), speechless I swear And even their actions are similar to canon 😫 like how when Atsushi is stressed or bothered he tucks his legs in I could go on and on about this video and how well made it is, ESPECIALLY how it’s only a WIP but it’s 27 minutes long 😻😻 take your time finishing the rest of it (reactions vids are so tiring and draining to make), so make sure to take breaks in between!😋
25:44 After rewatching this I realized, when Atsushi needs comfort he usually hugs his knee, and you put this detail, I thought this little detail was so thoughtful and cute!
this is amazing. from what I’ve seen till now all the characters are quite close to their canon selves and the way they interact seems rather natural. at least more so than what I’d usually expect of a gacha reaction video. it’s not overdone but they’re not just staring at the screen either and it mostly seems lighthearted for now, and that comes across very well. I’d especially like to mention Atsushi’s reactions as pretty much every Atsushi is usually so extremely rude it becomes a different character or so… sad? the personalities come across awesomely and I can’t wait for the finished result!!
I think my favorite thing about these reaction videos is trying to explain why you suddenly teleported a whole group of people into one room to make then react to depressing backstories and thirst traps
If you do Akutagawa please PLEASE show his character development throughout the series and also his past before the Port Mafia. His time in the slums is so so crucial to his character it’s unbelievable how it’s such an ignored aspect of his, this also includes his lung disease as well. A never-ending reminder of his past and his inevitable future+the extreme physical pain he feels because of it. I obviously can’t force you to do this since it’s your reaction video/s but I mean if you want to REALLY get the most out of it, it’s these 2 aspects that matter the most

The first time Dazai saw Akutagawa, he knew he had potential and would be a valuable asset to the port mafia, "Dazai looked at Akutagawa’s eyes, burning with a dark fire. There was something in that gaze-a desperate hunger, a void that could never be filled. Dazai thought, ‘This one… he could be formidable… if he survives.’” ("Bungo Stray Dogs: Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era"). At this point in time, he viewed Akutagawa as more of a weapon than a human. During his time mentoring him, he used to believe that through hardship and criticism, one can become strong and unwavering, he withheld any and all words of praise towards Akutagawa to try and make him push past all his limits. Dazai’s actions toward Akutagawa are often tinged with a hint of regret or contemplation, particularly when he is alone. He wonders, at times, whether he is doing the right thing by being so harsh, but dismisses these thoughts by focusing on the potential he sees in Akutagawa. Now, when it comes to Akutagawa needing Dazai’s approval, Dazai often set high and near impossible tasks for Akutagawa, wanting to test his loyalty through them. He wants to know how far Akutagawa will go for his approval as it would make him useful for Dazai’s future goals. “If you can’t prove your worth, you’re nothing. If you want my recognition, earn it. However, Dazai has shown his frustrations towards Akutagawa’s progression multiple times, which is due to his high expectations from him. His frustrations may also stem from the fact that he see’s himself in Akutagawa-as he used to be driven by his emptiness and nihilism before finding a purpose (A form of redemption and a search for the meaning of his life. By Oda’s request). He doesn’t want to be defined by the nihilism that shaped his days in the mafia, and he doesn’t want Akutagawa to as well. He uses Atsushi as a way of implementing a lesson to Akutagawa, that power and usefulness isn’t defined by strength alone, but by compassion and empathy (Atsushi define those two things by the way, which is why Dazai pushed the two together). Dazai believes that Akutagawa still has a chance for redemption, much like he does. This is all just my own little analysis of their relationship and how Dazai views him, and it’s open to adjusting but it’s what I found from my own research. I really hope this might help with portraying how Dazai views Akutagawa :3
Oh my goodness, this is absolutely beautiful 😭😭 I love the way you view their relationship, in a way it makes a whole lot of sense. I myself most definitely agree with your analysis. Dazai and Aku have a very complicated relationship that I can't even grasp, you narrowed it down for me and helped me understand some parts. I also really do believe Dazai never hated Aku at all, and was only doing those things as a way to "refine" him. It was definitely not a good method at all, but it somehow worked. Aku on the other hand, I've seen a lot of reaction videos that had Aku being obsessed with Dazai entirety. To me, Aku isn't obsessed with Dazai, but instead obsessed with the idea of recognition. He appears violent and cold, but that was simply the result of the overwhelming emotions he has been carrying for so long. Those emotions turn to aggression and hatred for things, a more desperate pursuit for validation and approval, to better 'feel' something. In a way, this desire to feel something is similar to Dazai. I whole heartedly agree that Dazai sees himself in Aku, despite the two being pretty different. As you've said, he uses Atsu as a way of implementing a lesson to Aku, hence why the two were brought together by Dazai. Slowly but surely Aku's character development throughout the story is what I really like about him. He continues to grow and change, by facing his own internal struggles. That might not be noticeable, or not even noticeable at all, yet I could still feel that he'd changed, even if it's just a tiny bit. (I LOVE AKU SM MY SON AHH 😭😭😭😕😕☹️☹️ HE DESERVES THE WORLD) Anyway, thank you so much for this analysis. It really did help me look at Dazai and Aku's relationship in a more understanding way. I love these types of analysis and seeing how other people portray the characters in so many perspectives. By the way, don't worry I haven't started on Aku's part yet so I'm EXCITED to be facing his part of the reaction video with a whole lot better understanding of his character and Dazai's. I PROBABLY SPENT HOURS ANALYZING BOTH AKU AND DAZAI, they’re so interesting to me, but I also felt like Aku’s development is more shown than it is explained in my manga and the anime, which is why I go to the light novels sometimes :3 Aku’s entire character is hard to understand simply because of how his subconscious conflicts with the mindset he built for himself due to his environment. Aku has literally never been treated as a proper human throughout his life, whether it be in the slums or in the mafia. It’s either he’s seen as a rabid dog in the slums, or a weapon and the hellhound of the mafia, never has he been shown human emotion, which is why it’s so hard for him to accept them. His life in the slums defined his existence as nothing, his only value was his strength and his ability, which were the only things he trusted. Numerous times has he been betrayed by human emotions such as kindness, many times people who appeared kind would stab him in the back. But other than those individuals, those who stayed hopeful would be dominated and likely killed, this is why he thinks empathy and kindness are weaknesses; it only leads to death in the slums. Not only was betrayal normal, but starvation, abuse, and the death of young children. Seeing all of this, he perceived the world as a hell-a place devoid of sympathy, his only means of survival was to become strong and use his ability to kill. He often thought about the meaning of life because of this. It was so easy for a life to be ended without meaning-as it was easy for people to be saved by pure luck. If people can be saved and killed so easily and randomly, then what is the meaning of everything? This is the sort of mindset he had in the slums, and when Dazai recruited him, he promised Akutagawa that he could find a meaning of life in the mafia. (This is actually why I think Aku and Dazai Are more similar than they seem-their reasons for being in the mafia were exactly the same, the only difference now is that Dazai seems to have found some purpose, while Aku is still searching for the meaning of life through slaughter). With this in mind, it’s now easy to understand why strength is so important to him, because in both the mafia and the slums, you’ll be discarded and killed the moment you’re deemed to be useless and weak. Not only that, but he views failure in the mafia to be more than that. Dazai had told him numerous times that he’d go back to being a stray dog in the slums if he wasn’t useful, which is what he thinks will happen. He absolutely detests life in the slums, so being threatened to go back there is a lot of a reason for him to want to get stronger. THIS IS LITERALLY SURFACE LEVEL AND I CAN GO MORE IN DEPTH, BUT THOSE ARE JUST REALLY IMPORTANT KEY DETAILS BHAHAHA AND ION WANT MY FINGERS TO HURT :c

OMG I LUV THIS SM, BUT I REALLY HOPE U HAVENT ALR FINISHED AKUTAGAWA’S PART OR UR ALR HALFWAY THROUGH CUZ THERES SOME THINGS I WANNA SAY ABOUT AKUTAGAWA AND DAZAI 😭😭😭 first off, I’ve seen a lot of Gacha creators think this, but DAZAI DOES NOT HATE AKUTAGAWA 😭😭 he 100% does not hate him, his training and his treatment toward Akutagawa were simply techniques he used to “refine” Akutagawa. The first time Dazai saw Akutagawa, he knew he had potential and would be a valuable asset to the port mafia, "Dazai looked at Akutagawa’s eyes, burning with a dark fire. There was something in that gaze-a desperate hunger, a void that could never be filled. Dazai thought, ‘This one… he could be formidable… if he survives.’” ("Bungo Stray Dogs: Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era"). At this point in time, he viewed Akutagawa as more of a weapon than a human. During his time mentoring him, he used to believe that through hardship and criticism, one can become strong and unwavering, he withheld any and all words of praise towards Akutagawa to try and make him push past all his limits. Dazai seems to believe that Akutagawa’s strength must come from his own internal struggles and battles, rather than from external validation. "Weakness is a sin, Akutagawa. Only the strong survive in this world, and I won’t coddle you into being strong. Your strength will come from facing your own failures." ("Bungo Stray Dogs: Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era"). He wants Akutagawa to see through his own weaknesses and mindset, to surge above those restrictions and grow stronger.
But one thing that I feel like people don’t address enough is the fact that Dazai DOES feel guilt towards his actions. He knew that he would be setting Akutagawa up for a dark existence the moment he brought him into the mafia, but he rationalized that guilt with the belief that, through this training, Akutagawa will grow and become stronger. Dazai’s actions toward Akutagawa are often tinged with a hint of regret or contemplation, particularly when he is alone. He wonders, at times, whether he is doing the right thing by being so harsh, but dismisses these thoughts by focusing on the potential he sees in Akutagawa. (Paraphrased from Dazai's introspective moments in the novel).
Now, when it comes to Akutagawa needing Dazai’s approval, Dazai often set high and near impossible tasks for Akutagawa, wanting to test his loyalty through them. He wants to know how far Akutagawa will go for his approval as it would make him useful for Dazai’s future goals. “If you can’t prove your worth, you’re nothing. If you want my recognition, earn it. Show me that you are more than the sum of your scars.” ("Bungo Stray Dogs: Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era"). However, Dazai has shown his frustrations towards Akutagawa’s progression multiple times, which is due to his high expectations from him. His frustrations may also stem from the fact that he see’s himself in Akutagawa-as he used to be driven by his emptiness and nihilism before finding a purpose (A form of redemption and a search for the meaning of his life. By Oda’s request). He doesn’t want to be defined by the nihilism that shaped his days in the mafia, and he doesn’t want Akutagawa to as well. He uses Atsushi as a way of implementing a lesson to Akutagawa, that power and usefulness isn’t defined by strength alone, but by compassion and empathy (Atsushi define those two things by the way, which is why Dazai pushed the two together). Dazai believes that Akutagawa still has a chance for redemption, much like he does.
This is all just my own little analysis of their relationship and how Dazai views him, and it’s open to adjusting but it’s what I found from my own research. I really hope this might help with portraying how Dazai views Akutagawa :3

I love the way you view their relationship, in a way it makes a whole lot of sense. I myself most definitely agree with your analysis. Dazai and Aku have a very complicated relationship that I can't even grasp, you narrowed it down for me and helped me understand some parts. I also really do believe Dazai never hated Aku at all, and was only doing those things as a way to "refine" him. It was definitely not a good method at all, but it somehow worked.
Aku on the other hand, I've seen a lot of reaction videos that had Aku being obsessed with Dazai entirety. To me, Aku isn't obsessed with Dazai, but instead obsessed with the idea of recognition. He appears violent and cold, but that was simply the result of the overwhelming emotions he has been carrying for so long. Those emotions turn to aggression and hatred for things, a more desperate pursuit for validation and approval, to better 'feel' something. In a way, this desire to feel something is similar to Dazai. I whole heartedly agree that Dazai sees himself in Aku, despite the two being pretty different. As you've said, he uses Atsu as a way of implementing a lesson to Aku, hence why the two were brought together by Dazai.
Slowly but surely Aku's character development throughout the story is what I really like about him. He continues to grow and change, by facing his own internal struggles. That might not be noticeable, or not even noticeable at all, yet I could still feel that he'd changed, even if it's just a tiny bit. (I LOVE AKU SM MY SON AHH 😭😭😭😕😕☹️☹️ HE DESERVES THE WORLD)
Anyway, thank you so much for this analysis. It really did help me look at Dazai and Aku's relationship in a more understanding way. I love these types of analysis and seeing how other people portray the characters in so many perspectives. By the way, don't worry I haven't started on Aku's part yet so I'm EXCITED to be facing his part of the reaction video with a whole lot better understanding of his character and Dazai's. I PROBABLY SPENT HOURS ANALYZING BOTH AKU AND DAZAI, they’re so interesting to me, but I also felt like Aku’s development is more shown than it is explained in my manga and the anime, which is why I go to the light novels sometimes :3 Aku’s entire character is hard to understand simply because of how his subconscious conflicts with the mindset he built for himself due to his environment. Aku has literally never been treated as a proper human throughout his life, whether it be in the slums or in the mafia. It’s either he’s seen as a rabid dog in the slums, or a weapon and the hellhound of the mafia, never has he been shown human emotion, which is why it’s so hard for him to accept them.
His life in the slums defined his existence as nothing, his only value was his strength and his ability, which were the only things he trusted. Numerous times has he been betrayed by human emotions such as kindness, many times people who appeared kind would stab him in the back. But other than those individuals, those who stayed hopeful would be dominated and likely killed, this is why he thinks empathy and kindness are weaknesses; it only leads to death in the slums. Not only was betrayal normal, but starvation, abuse, and the death of young children. Seeing all of this, he perceived the world as a hell-a place devoid of sympathy, his only means of survival was to become strong and use his ability to kill.
He often thought about the meaning of life because of this. It was so easy for a life to be ended without meaning-as it was easy for people to be saved by pure luck. If people can be saved and killed so easily and randomly, then what is the meaning of everything? This is the sort of mindset he had in the slums, and when Dazai recruited him, he promised Akutagawa that he could find a meaning of life in the mafia. (This is actually why I think Aku and Dazai Are more similar than they seem-their reasons for being in the mafia were exactly the same, the only difference now is that Dazai seems to have found some purpose, while Aku is still searching for the meaning of life through slaughter).
With this in mind, it’s now easy to understand why strength is so important to him, because in both the mafia and the slums, you’ll be discarded and killed the moment you’re deemed to be useless and weak. Not only that, but he views failure in the mafia to be more than that. Dazai had told him numerous times that he’d go back to being a stray dog in the slums if he wasn’t useful, which is what he thinks will happen. He absolutely detests life in the slums, so being threatened to go back there is a lot of a reason for him to want to get stronger.

OH ALSO, NOT SO FUN FACT, BUT AKU DOESNT ACTHALLY CARE IS HE DIES 😭 I'm pretty sure, from my own research, that he's passively suicidal. When faced with death, he doesn't mind it, which is actually stated in the light novels, “He was not afraid to die.
He was thinking that perhaps even Hell would be a better place to live than here. He was not afraid of the pain of dying, either.”
