My daughter is doing an under-graduate exchange 1 year programme and has been affected by all this. She is due to go to McGill but only got her formal offer letter two days ago. We have applied for the PAL immediately, but as that is likely to take a month, then the study permit takes a further 14 weeks, we feel it is very likely she won't get there in time for the start of Semester at the end of August. The Canadian Government should not have brought this into affect this year, but next year as it means international students will not get their documentation in time to start their courses - super frustrating!
This is a smart input. Clearly giving us detailed information instead of reading. Thank you! Just subscribed.
Oemmgee! I really enjoy listening to you.
Your topics are so helpful.
Thanks dear Rach.❤
You're so welcome! 🥹❤️
I would like to ask. PAL in Québec is CAQ, or these are two different documents?
The cap you mentioned, does it applies to grad students too?
Thumbs up to you for your informative video. Please regarding the need to choose a good province, would you advice me to choose university of Manitoba in Winnipeg for a master's program??
hi my course here in Philippines is business course and i am planning for PSw course is it possible to get enrolled with that program or just get 1 year business course and add another 1 year psw program?
Hi Rachel. May you please elaborate on what you meant by 'applying for the higher education level first and then backing it up with an undergraduate program'? Thank you
I meant to say to aim for a master’s program first, but having an undergraduate level as a backup in case applying for the first option gets competitive or if the requirements are too high to meet :)
Student permit got approved and received POE Letter of Introduction. Do I need to obtain anything else before flying to Canada? Please helppp.
High quality information! 👏🏿
Glad you think so! ❤️
Hello Dancel.I’ve been watching your blogs .I am located from Regina Canada.I hope to see you soon.
Nice to meet you. Are you planning to visit Vancouver?
@@rrdancel Maybe soon..
Thank youuuuuu❤
this is sooooooo HELPFUL
Glad you think so!
Hi! I saw in your last video that we need to provide a bank certificate or proof of funds for a study permit extension. My study permit will expire on July 31, 2024, and I will finish my program in August 2024. My tuition fee is fully paid. Do I need a 20K CAD as proof of funds? I am in the process of extending my permit and am thankful for your videos. I'm hoping to hear back from you. Thanks in advance.
Hey! A question plz reply
Does Columbia college provide compass card??
You’d still need to buy the card itself.
But after some digging, it looks like they do offer a program where they partially offset the cost of a monthly Compass Pass :)
See link: www.columbiacollege.ca/access-benefit-program
Are you also assisting in uni application?
Hi, thanks a lot for your updates.
I submitted my application February 8, 2024 but up to now still waiting for results. 🥺
Ahhh hoping for positive results soon 🥹
Hello po I submitted mine on April 20 has there been any updates on your application?
Hi,I am living here for 8 months in Vancouver as a international student & searching for a part time job. I applied many but didn’t get any response until now not even for a dishwasher job. I also have information communication technology background as I studied that in my high school $ currently i am a University student in Vancouver. Can you please advise me how to get a part time job here?
Thank you!
Hi… I will highly appreciate if you can put me through.
I have received my PAL but I want to know if I have to apply for study permits before visa or will the study permit be issued on entry to Canada.
I want to know where to start from please
Once you receive your PAL, only then can you submit a study permit application.
If approved, you should receive a student visa which will be stamped in your passport.
Once you enter Canada, border officials will issue you your study permit.
Hopefully that clears this up :)
@@rrdancel Thank you somuch.
I already applied in UCW school admission but until now no offer letter receive almost 2 months :(
Please reach out to us on instagram (username is Canxvisa). 🤗
Is CAP and PAL also for masters level studies???
Those applying for master’s level is exempted from needing to obtain a PAL, as seen here: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents/provincial-attestation-letter.html#
I see you’ve finally remembered your password 😂

Looks like it’s the same length as your program.

Is PTE acceptable or not in master's programs 😊
It would depend on your chosen school or program’s admission requirements.
If you’re applying for SDS down the line, PTE Academic is accepted as per IRCC: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/student-direct-stream/eligibility.html#tests
Hi Rachel!! Although this question may not be related to the video but I do want to ask your opinion on study permit pathways. Initially I want to take the SDS route but I heard some applicants received faster processing through the regular stream, however considering the recent changes and how strict they have become, do you think SDS is a better option?
Generally speaking, the SDS does have more benefits when compared to the regular study permit. Whether you apply through the SDS or the Regular study permit stream, IRCC will process each application on its own merit. Some applications are processed slower and this may be due to issues surrounding completeness, strength of application or concerns about a potential refusal. With these new changes in the international student program, it would be best to hire an immigration lawyer or immigration consultant to help you submit your study permit application. Please avoid immigration agencies from your home country.
I see. So you suggest it is best to hire an agency, but is there still no harm in doing it myself? are the chances lower with a DIY application ? Thank you again Rachel 💜
@@crisyramaI want to be clear. You should avoid immigration agencies. Lawyers and consultants are not agencies. Please see my other videos on agencies.
Do you know if students are allowed to work 30 hours
I know there is a temporary policy that allows students to work more than 20 hours a week, but that is coming to an end on April 30th

Do you advise studying a bachelors program for senior high grad?
For most situations, it’s better for high school grads to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
However, in certain situations, it may be better to opt for a certificate or diploma program.
It’s best that you take into consideration certain factors such as cost, time, disciplinary area, career outcome or immigration goals. 😌
@@rrdancel its actually for my son who will be finishing his Grade 9 in a month or two and will finish his Senior HS in 3 yrs time. We’re actually hinging our immigration dream to him as me and my wife are already 40+ yrs old and quite late in immigrating to Canada with our credentials.
@@mikecruz6578 That’s great that you both are supportive of your son in his pursuit of studying abroad. It’s good that you are considering this path early on as there are quite a bit of things to prepare for. Hopefully, in 3 years time, the international student program will be more certain. I wish you all the best 😊
@@rrdancel thanks…keep providing informative and quality videos…all the best…

Are you working in Kolsener before mam?
Kolsener? Call Center? 😜🤣
Hi Rachel. Just a doubt. I got my student visa, course start in Jan 2025. My wife got her open work permit. If we land in Oct this year Can my wife start work before i start my course in Jan 2025?
Really appreciate your help 🙏🏽
If they limit India it will actually still be more favorable towards India due to population but at least the rest of the World could be like 30 or 40 % of applicants.
Hi Rachel, Are you still studying in canada?

I applied for my visa on November 22nd, 2023. Then, I got my passport request on march 27,2024. Do I need PAL ??
Hii, If you don’t mind what pathway did you take to apply for your study permit?
Wait did you submit your SP application before Jan 22, 2024?
If you submitted your application before this date, you dont need a PAL

Can I study in Canada without a family there?
If you are a minor, then you would need someone to sign as your guarantor. If you are not a minor, then you can study here without a family. 😊
Hello. Thanks for the informative video. I have applied for a study permit. I have all the requirements. I will bring my wife and 5-year-old son. Since my wife is not applying for a work permit, I used the IRCC, the new portal, instead of the GCKey. In the questionnaire, I supplied the details of my wife and son, and also indicated that they are coming with me. When I am about to pay, I noticed that I was going to pay for 1 biometrics only.
Should I make a separate application for my wife and son?
From other sources, they mention applying altogether through the main applicant (you). How much was the fee of your biometrics? Did they submit biometrics before? and Why isn’t she applying for a work permit?
Wishing to get your permanent visa , you almost stay for a long years in Canada and i love watching your video, because you didn't spoke tagalog. You always giving advise including the culture of that country and i feel what you felt ,somethings are i got information from you about the universities.. keep doing well God knows. God bless and god luck 💪💪💪🙏🙏🇨🇦🇨🇦
She did already as PR
Wow that's good she's good she's always following rules.
Yes, I did receive my permanent residency several years ago. I do speak Tagalog with certain people in private settings. However, I don’t speak Tagalog in my videos because most of the viewers understand English. Also, I aim to provide information to a vast group potential international students from around the world. Thank you for your kind words and I will continue to make more videos to encourage guide students. 😊❤️
@@rrdancel God bless to you and keep uploading videos I'm always watching your RUclips video..🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
What so big deal about studying there?
It really depends on what you think is a big deal.
There’s nothing special about Canada it’s a useless country
Can you please expound on your statement?
Don't give misleading information as you're not an immigration consultant! As some of the information you're giving is like an impossible thing to come and immigrate to Canada. The process is simple as far as the immigrant or students qualify for what type of immigration process they're in.
Hey there! Thanks for your comment. Just to clear things up, the updates I share are based on what IRCC has posted on their website. I'm just passing along that info to help manage expectations, especially with the new policy changes which can be a bit tough to swallow.
I'm definitely not giving legal advice here. Legal advice means knowing someone’s specific situation and giving tailored responses based on that. I’m just sharing general info for everyone. Contrary to what you’re saying, I even recommend consulting with an immigration consultant or lawyer for personal guidance 😊
Plus, if it helps - everything I share has been vetted by my partner, who’s a Canadian immigration lawyer. But i still leave it to everyone’s discretion to do their own research before easily trusting info found online (including my own!)
I appreciate your concern and agree with your points to an extent. But I hope we can have a more productive discussion instead of just leaving distasteful comments on here 🤘Anyway, I hope this clears things up and I wish you the best! 😊
@rrdancel I am not criticizing you, and if it seems that way, I apologize. What I am trying to say is that every person's path is different, and people can do their own research when coming to Canada. All that you are saying might not be true for everyone, and they may not face challenges like paying the exorbitant international tuition fees and high cost of living.
For instance, in my case, I came to Canada in the winter of 2022 as an international student to study Aerospace Engineering at McGill University. Do you know how much it costs to study this program? It's an insane $80,000 CAD a year ($60,000 for 30 credit loads courses and $20,000 with the current cost of living). As the program itself is prestigious, you might expect such costs, but you know what? I pay nothing with the full-ride scholarship I have.
So, it is feasible to come to Canada and make a successful impact here as long as students or immigrants qualify for the type of immigration they are in. However, all your videos that I am seeing are filled with negativity, simply listing the extortionate price and trying to dissuade people from coming to study in Canada, which is not actually true.
To conclude my points, while challenges exist, there are also ample opportunities for those who qualify as long they're hard-working As the renowned author Paulo Coelho once said, "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."
after watching this video its so discouraging to study in canada as an international student
I am alone here in Canada because of that ruling!
Oh no! 😥 were you supposed to be with your partner?
@@rrdancel naabutan sya ng january ruling.
These “updates” are just too late.
I had to wait for all the updates to be released and put it into one video. That is why it took so long 😌
@@rrdancelthank you for the updates!
You are Vancouver based. And not a Immigration Consultant or Lawyer. And as such you are not legally allowed to give any Immigration advise.
Hmm, i’m curious at what point i did do that in this video?
