Charles "Carl" Panzram was an American serial killer, rapist, arsonist, robber and burglar. In prison confessions and his autobiography, he claimed to have committed 21 murders, most of which could not be corroborated, and over 1,000 acts of sodomy of boys and men. After a series of imprisonments and escapes, he was executed in 1930 for the murder of a prison employee at Leavenworth. Only five victims could be confirmed, though Panzram is suspected to have killed more than 100 men in total in the United States.

I spent 6 years guarding inmates at Leavenworth, worst of the worst there, military criminals, pirates held under the Patriot Act, and many other various federal inmates. High security, that guard tower has a guard with a mini14 in it.

Whow you took a chance but the story about this demented man going to back to age 5 shows the journey a sick soul takes. Be safe.
He was beaten and abused and showed no love or care from the day he was born. Combine that with a genetic propensity for psychopathy and you get a Panzram. That's why people should be nice to their kids... better safe than sorry.
That man was a horror. And that prison is very creepy. I suppose a murder of crows at the cemetery is appropriate. Another great story, Ron!

However I do believe in the death penalty - and no messing around - for people such as this man.
Just looking at the wiki page of all the crimes he committed gave me a headache. You did an excellent job considering there was an absurd amount of murders and crimes he committed. Evil incarnate is the best description for him.
I can't imagine his early childhood to his teenage years. That had to have been a horror.

Thanks Ron for the tour.I enjoyed the background info you shared of the cemetery.Such an intimidating structure of buildings rising out of the prairie.A friend who drives a big rig had a similar encounter when he was on the prison grounds of Leavenworth to make a pickup of coat hangers from prison industries there.While inmates were loading his tractor trailer with the goods from their workshop he took a stroll around the premises and within minutes was intercepted by two armed guards driving a pickup truck around the perimeter of the prison.He was instructed to return to his truck cab and not to wander around the grounds further.
What do they think you or anyone else was going to do in a cemetery....help them escape? Unreal.....

I'm not surprised that the guards came down on you. Most/all prisons don't allow filming/trespassing as they claim people are looking for ways of helping prisoners escape. Thanks for the interesting video.
If that prison ever closes, I can only imagine the spirits of the damned that would be roaming that stone structure in the darkness of night.
That forlorn place looks pretty good from when I went many years ago to take a deposition. The roads were worse, and I don't remember any vegetation, not even weeds. It was like walking into the gallows, the sorrow was palpable everywhere, just ghastly. Years later a friend was incarcerated there. Got chills getting letters from him.

Thank you! Kind of sad he went down that path starting at an early age. What's creepy is he died exactly 40 years to the day I was born.. Too bad they asked you to leave also, not like you're gonna try and help someone escape.

There is also a story that he was born in Warren, Minnesota . He was most likely born somewhere in between. I am from Warren and was born here. I love your channel. I have no idea why I am intrigued by cemeteries and historical stories but was so glad to find I was not alone when finding you channel.

Carl killed my great uncle Warden Harry Minto, trying to escape the prison. Shot him in the back.
I read his book, it was jaw dropping, to say the least.
I believe he was made to be evil, he wasn't born this was. From what my family said, he was beaten something awful by his father. Even starved.

Hi Ron, thank you for this visit, I had never even seen a picture of Leavenworth. If this man would have been treated better as a child he more than likely wouldn't have turned out the way he did. On the other hand, you just never know. Stay safe, I always love your vlogs.
Treated better by whom? It was obviously something inside him to be so awful from the age of 5. Were his brothers and sisters like him? Not that I know of, so he had some gene/devil in him and believe me no matter how kind or caring someone was to him he would not have turned out any different.

Ron, love your channel to death. Attended CGSC and CAS3 at fort Leavenworth. Had the honor of having a tour of the military prison, not as an inmate, lol The military prison is on post as well as a very historical cemetery. Well worth a visit, to include pow graves. The prison you went to appears to be the federal prison just outside the military reservation. Just a small clarification.

It looks like they were buried in order of the date their death. Since u knew his date of death it looks like u could almost locate him by that. Very interesting and thanks for sharing.

My guess would be defending its territory against a stubborn intruder, probably another red-tailed hawk.
So you were not allowed to be at the graveyard. You would think that would be O.K. The guys are dead. You would think families would be able to visit.
It is restricted federal property and only Bureau of Prisons staff are allowed there. All other non-federal people have to have prior permission to visit there.

Wow! He sure did get meaner looking as time went on. His mug shots really tell a story. He might have been problematic from childhood, but he didn't deserve the treatment he got. No child deserves that. Society probably made this monster.
He was an evil person , some are born that way society has little to do with how they come out .
If you are being arrested from the age of 5 and even your parents are wanting you locked up then that is not society’s fault.
He had some bad genes in him and needed to be kept away from humanity.
Don’t blame others for what happens when someone prefers or needs to be amongst like minded ‘people’ for what happens to them.
If he had been a caring, kind person he would never have been in the position to be mistreated by others.

Looks like the prisoners were buried by each other as they died. As you walking the dates of death were in a “year order”. When did this guy pass away?

By putting only the date of death on the plaques, it lets everyone know that their death was much more important than that they were ever born.

I wondered that too. You would think that if people were not allowed to visit the graves they would have it all fenced off. I guess that adds to the intensity of the place.

You need to go to Mt Washington cemetery in Independence, Mo. Do the research of Independence and all the historical places you could spend a few days with many episodes.

What a horrible life wreaking pain and torture and murder on society. Why he was not locked up permanently early on is a question I have for the justice system. All those lives taken because he was roaming free amongst innocent people. Horrible.
Some people are infested with demons. It is sad hearing how eager he was to die. We know the devil made him do these things. His life was wasted doing evil things...a miserable existence.
Life should really be lived doing good. It is obvious he never accepted God into his heart.
You are brave. That cemetery is creepy. I wish you had a helper so as not to be alone in these places. Consider it! These places are isolated.
