Man this team was so good. I played for teaneck highschool in Teaneck,nj from 88 to 92. We played them that year and lost by 20 and we were ranked 4th in the state at that time. Bobby and Danny were both on the team. They were ridiculously good. And Teaneck had two D1players on the roster at the time.
First of all this upload is awesome and great for nostalgia and basketball lovers. But as I'm watching this game I notice a small figure near the St Anthony's bench on the sidelines. And then at 46:31 you see that is a small child!! Wow, that kid had real danger of getting killed by the players! Plus I imagine hearing some of the words that might have come out of Bob Hurley's mouth. Lol. I'm surprised Mr. Hurley being the disciplinarian he was known to be let that fly
St. Anthony was a great team but they did recruit like many private and religious schools back then. The best non-recruited high school team of all time is probably 1983 Dunbar (Baltimore) followed by a few in NY, Philly, Chicago, and believe it or not Carlisle, PA
@@MQ_eleven Originally I was but forgot those guys transferred in. Still I draw a distinction between players transferring to play for a good coach at a public school and players getting paid to go to a private school (I did both so I know the difference very well). Good example... big difference to me between that 83 Dunbar team and the 83 Calvert Hall team. Both great but different.
When your backcourt is made up of one of the best college PGs of all time and your SG becomes the Big East's all time leading scorer, it's... just.... not.... fair.
Best high school team I've ever seen

Someone’s kid?
@@dantheman92317 C'mon man put some research in it
All I can come up with is coach Hurley had another daughter but I think she’d be older

both Wingate and Bogues transferred in to Dunbar
@@MQ_eleven True. But they didn't get anything other than the opportunity to play on a great team for a good coach. Private schools give scholarships.
I thought you were making a point about truly homegrown teams
