The gorillas take shelter under the roof. However, the rain is so bad that Mother Genki is protecting a scared Kintaro by holding him. Before and after this torrential rain, Kintaro plays with his father Momotaro by slapping his buttocks.

Father Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
Mother Genki ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
First son Gentaro, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son Kintaro ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro is
makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Genki shows once more why so many of us think she's the best gorilla mum. Not only is she able to still carry Kintaro around, but she comforts and protects him during a rainstorm.
Though Kintaro is always bold and naughty, in case of something happens to frighten him, this time is a sudden torrential rain, he still sticks mom and never leaves her like a little baby. How I love to see, Genki is truly a reliable mom and isn't easily so upset. She is a great mama to protect a little Kintaro from such heavy rain desperately on the beam✨🌼🌼

I haven't seen a gorilla yet that doesn't grimace over the rain. They seem to hate getting wet. And mama Genki is showing us all what good mothering is all about❤ Like everyone else I'm not crazy about that metal structure and if lightning ever strikes it, they are all toast😪
I've also worried a lot about lightning strikes on all that steel. I can only hope that the designers thoroughly took lightning into account when they designed it and included copious amounts of lightning rods. I'd be really interested to find out. The zoo should really have a small safety room for the gorillas whenever lightning is detected in the area. A lot of zoos have emergency signals for some of their animals so that any time the animal hears it they know to go to a certain area, in this case it would be a room or area that is safe from lightning.
Sad there no proper shelter for them outside. More about money then the animals
If they were in the wild, where would they shelter from the rain?

To jest jak tajfun. Pod względem objętości, gdyby taka sama ilość deszczu spadła w Polsce, miasto zostałoby zalane i nie nadawałoby się do życia. W Japonii co roku występuje kilka tajfunów. Jesteśmy więc zawsze przygotowani na tajfuny. W Japonii występują też częste trzęsienia ziemi, a japońskie budynki są najbardziej wytrzymałe na świecie.

Gorillas live in Rain forests and are quite capable of withstanding rain. It refreshes and cleans their skin and coat.

They need to get used to the rain... It's not a big deal and Genki needs to stop being so scared of everything. Yes, I know her past but I'm glad the zookeepers are not indulging her. This behavior is not conducive to future gorillas that may one day live in the wild.

@@lady4vols OK so watched the video. I kept waiting to see if Genki was abused but no she wasn't. They took her first son because she couldn't produce milk they had to. But she saw n touched him every day and got him back at 10 months.she however lost her place in the group but was never abused
@@cherokeeheartct8633 she was the lead female before she came to Kyoto and they brought another female in there and she pushed Genki out. Genki was extremely stressed over this and she actually ate off a finger. My understanding was the other female was not nice to her at all.

They are unable to go inside for one hour becuase zoo keepers clean their rooms but there is a temporary room to evacutate from the rain, though.

There are temporary rooms to evacuate from the rain but they want to be outside. Until their rooms are cleaned, they can stay at the room even in the heavy rain, though.

Cherokee Heart CT-baby gorillas can nurse til 4-5 yrs old.up to the mother. Kintaro is still 3.he will be 4 on dec19th.😉🦍

Marie Mannix, Gentaro was reunited with Genki at 10 months old.He had her ENTIRE TIME& ATTENTION and LOVE for 7 yrs.she is a dedicated mother.Kintaro in my book is NOT spoiled but LOVED and CARED for.From my perspective, this is a beautiful love story.it amazes me how you see this in a negative light.😉🦍🧡🌄💚🦍
