Interesting point here - that crack is only on the stereo version - which the Beatles NEVER would have let get released! The mono version is what they mixed and has no vocal crack, although it does sound like Paul is struggling to get that note
I'm 74 and live in NYC. Starting 10 years after John Lennon died. I started going Central Park - Strawberry Fields. There were numerous very large groups of fans scattered all thru Central Park. While I never purposely set out to learn all the words, I did know every lyric to every song they wrote. What amazed me were people specifically there from countries all over the world. The feeling of everyone singing together was amazing. One of the most heart lifting things I ever did. I did see the Beatles perform in 66 in Boston. I will always be grateful to have been the age I am, to have the Beatles creating the soundtrack to my life

I have never heard a "crowd" sing a Beatle song so beautifully. No, they can't reach the high vocal notes, and it isn't perfect. But it is stunning in how accurate it is. They all know the chords, the harmonies, the guitar licks, and they have the tempo and rhythm spot on. Amateur or not, only Beatle fans would know the song well enough to pull this off. It is positively heartwarming.
I teared up a little listening to this. Something about a group of people congregating in commemoration, singing one of the most beautiful songs that I think Lennon/McCartney ever wrote. This was emotional for me.
When I was in New York, my wife and I went to visit the John Lennon memorial. As we made our way up the approaching path we could hear Beatles songs being sung and guitars playing in the distance. It was one of those moments when the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
Absolutely fabulous. They even had people doing John's harmonies and Paul's harmonies. Greetings from Toxteth, Liverpool, England (5 minutes from where Ringo was born) 🙂
@@thebeatlesnyc Yes, Ringo was born in a house on Madryn Street in Toxteth, Liverpool. Sorry I don't know the number. They have all just been renovated after being dilapidated for many years. I'm sure someone lives there now so it's probably a private house. I could walk to that street in 5 minutes. All the best and keep up the nice work.
That was just so good, and great to see John being celebrated in Central Park. That is the power of beatle songs which no other songs seem to match. People can just start singing them anywhere, with or without whatever instrument, and they sound brilliant. We Beatles fans are the most dedicated out of any.
