Pro Tip, in addition to accomplishing the change on a near-empty tank... while the water is draining, loosen the 8mm screws just enough to break the gasket vacuum around the filter housing. This permits the water to empty much quicker and the reservoir to entirely empty. No more "diesel baths."
i just want to say ty for doing the video. im just getting ready to do one for the first time and your vid really help get me prepped!
Great video. I applaud your patience. Nothing like the feeling of diesel running down your arm to the pit!
That is very true...
Kudos, nicely done. I have done this in the past on my 2019 and made sure that the filter was fully drained before i tried to remove the bolts on the filter. I just wanted to refresh my memory before I do theses steps again. Thanks again!
It’s hilarious when it happens to someone else. Lol. Had a little mishap with my oil drain pan the other day and ended with a nice oil spot in my driveway. The wife was not happy.
Your good man for showing us what not to do and what to do
Great Video! I'm actually doing this now. Although, I'm wondering if your aftermarket fuel drain is restricting the flow. Mine is stock and drained in just a few minutes.
Great vid man, thank ya sir!
God bless ya man. Thanks for great video. Me and my boy are going to do mine now.
Thanks for a very informative video. Having seen in person the ability of the engine oil to drain fully horizontal for 5’ before considering dropping into the drain pan and the lasting impression the stain on the paver driveway made on both the the wife and the HOA police I think I will bite the bullet, apply risk vs. benefit and let the dealer make the change. Thanks again.
This is great. And Now I am going to jiffy lol
Helpful video brotha! Keep it up
They recommend doing the fuel filter change when it’s under 1/4 of tank. When you have over half a tank it will drain a lot more fuel. Like what happened with you when you pulled the cover on the bottom.
Thanks for the tip. It’s time to do it once again, so I will run the tank down and try it..
Your very welcome
Yeah. I come to see why I’ve drained about 2 gallons of fuel wondering if it’s ever going to stop!!! A lot of the others are only getting about a half gallon 😂
hell ya man. Thank you!
That is ridiculous to lose all that diesel to do a filter change, diesel does make a great weed killer though lol, you’ll be smelling like diesel for a couple days, happy thanksgiving my friend 👍😁
My wife didn’t want to let me in the house. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well..
That diesel is the fuel that has cleared the fuel line and into the fuel filter reservoir. It was no longer useful anyway.
lol drain it first a spare in under $ 5.00 and its better than breaking the fuel housing
Nice video but I will gladly pay the dealer $333 to do this and and oil change
ford says on the 2017 to remove the line on the front of the filter housing. but not on the 2018-2019, which is bullshit. take off that hose on all of them or you will lose a lot of diesel.
I was told your tank needs to be close to empty before changing the bottom filter.
