I really really appreciate your Polaris content Dan. I have been struggling with mine for the past two years and was going to sell it. You are inspiring me to give it another shot.
Great video thanks Dan. I'm still using my star adventurer 2i but eventually might get the benro. By the way, the rock movement is from ice and wind. Scientists solved the mystery a few years ago. Videos on RUclips actually show the rocks moving.
Thanks!!! There are actually two theories with wind and ice and wind seems to be more prevalent. They installed GPS on rocks and checked the floods, ice, and wind, and it seems that just water with the flood and wind is enough to push the rocks. I purchased a book about this at the DVNP visitor center and it's really interesting!
Hi Dan, I wonder if these Polaris is suitable for Deep space photography, have you tried? If yes, what is the largest lens you have used/recommend and if a small 500mm telescope would work with it. Particularly the lack of counterweights, this may affect the maximum exposure length with a telephoto, don't you think? Thanks!
Nels, even though the payload capacity and specs are supposed to be valid for deep space, I wouldn't get this tracker for serious deep space work. It's not as consistent as other trackers and it's limited as you can't use counterweights, autoguiding, etc. I'd say that for any work below 135 mm is perfect. With patience you can get good images up to 300 mm if you don't mind stacking and putting a bit more time. In my case, I use it exclusively for wide-field Astro
Greetings from Germany. Hi, i have a few questions and maybe you can help me. Does the Polaris have different tracking speeds (stars/moon) or only „starspeed“? Does the Polaris power your camera while using or do you need an extra battery/powerbank or a dummy battery. My a7r4 only lasts roundabout 3h shooting without extra power. And the polaris wants to take the only usb c port of the Camera😂 Thank you for your time.
It just has stellar speed! It can charge your camera while you use it and you can also charge the BP via powerbank. As soon as you plug your camera, the BP will charge your camera automatically. Hope this helps!
@CapturetheAtlas i contactet Benro a while ago and they said it has all 3 speeds. If you "Go to" the Moon it will follows the Moon with the right Speed. If you got to "stars" it will doch the same. But i didnt test it yet.
I didn't film this video to teach, it's just the recording of two friends having an Astro adventure. If you want to learn I do recommend checking my Benro Polaris or Milky Way courses ;)
😂 Beggars can’t be choosers. I would have preferred the natural stuff, but I needed to pack stuff from a local grocery that didn’t have a great selection. So… Jif, it was! And since I was eating with my friend in the middle of nowhere, it was outstanding!! 🎉❤

Really nice! And Christopher seems like a very nice guy too... I remember him from FB groups. You two got some great images.
Thanks, Matej!! We had a lot of fun on this Astro adventure! 😉
Thanks Matej for the nice comment!
I cant wait to visit death valley, those skies are unbelievable amazing!
They are, Tiago! Let me know when you plan to visit and I can help ;)
Great video guys! Are the foreground at blue hour? Thanks
Thanks Jose! All foregrounds captured at night! We limit the #Astrocheating to using the Benro Polaris haha

Hello can you tell time in wifi to controle the head, it is for wildlifephotograpy! thanks!
I never used it for wildlife, sorry!
After 18 min, i did not learn one single thing from this video.

Totalmente de acuerdo, Alfredo! Y con la comida no hay duda, sobre todo si es española jaja
When did you do this trip?
New moon March 24 ;)
I was planning to do a poll with your preference...Chris's American lunch or Dan's European lunch? (Don't let Chris win, please!)
I wouldn't ever eat Jif. All the sugar and added oils. Give me natural peanut butter! So Fans lunch wins with me
I like seaweed, baba ganoush, and smoked salmon, but I don't know that I would like them together....
@@leshamathes6822 Yes, I take nut butters but all natural!
@@gekko422 It's actually a very nice mix, I recommend giving it a try! ;)
