So far I've painted around just 40 of my 247 BattleTech minis and I'm telling you, while you've done OUTSTANDING job, there's no way I'd have time left for actually playing the game had I painted the minis so meticulously. Still, I find it quite inspiring nad may one day add a few more details here nad there. Thanks for sharing!
I was relieved when I saw the checkers were decals, I was dreading you showing how to do that by hand! Awesome overall, though, I'm glad someone else uses Micro Set/Sol to get the decals to fit into those recesses
I admire people that can do freehand well, as my hands aren’t steady enough for that. That said, I hate decals. They are so small and finicky to cut out and put on
I couldn't find Micro Set/Sol at Hobby Lobby and didn't want to wait for order/delivery. I was damaging several decals trying to reposition them after clinging on crooked. I decided to try Vallejo Glaze Medium and am very happy with my results.
Beautiful work! The Awesome is already one of my top 3 mechs, and this is just doing it justice. So many great little things I picked up that I was either not doing yet or I was but you helped my goldfish brain understand a bit better. Thanks as always for the amazing content and the contributions you help bring to the community.
I've been trying to start my journey to becoming a CSO artist for a while now, this is demystifying a lot of seemingly advanced techniques. I've already had all the fundamentals from Warhammer, figure painting and armor modeling, but seeing the whole step-by-step process has really helped me figure out which techniques to use where. All that's left is copious practice.
Great video man. Going through the steps and explaining what you were doing was really helpful. I am not a great painter, but I got some tips that I will be able to use with my (much less detailed) painting.
My hands shake too much to try those checker patterns but I think you helped me solve the highlighting issue we discussed about my Star League lance. Thanks for the video.
Looks fantastic. I'm a little unsure about how the basing material adheres to the figure. The isopropyl (not diluted) misting is all that's needed? I assume the solvent is reacting with the matte finish to create the bond? Like the 1 mini, 1 video tutorial format.
It helps the powder bond to the plastic (in some way). I think it’s the equivalent of hydrating paint (maybe?) vs it being in pigment form and able to be wiped off over time.
I got some great decals from DRD but you caught my ear at. “I printed these”. What did you use to get such good results or where can I order some custom ones for my merc group (Ambition Company)
Dude you killed it, I don’t think anyone else shows underpainting like this

I'll be interested to know the make and model of the printer you use for your water slide decals... And if it what's capable of printing white?

Justin putting a new paint tutorial up? Of course I'm clicking instantly
You had me instantly when I saw a strange undercoat. That's a great idea and absolutely love learning new ways to use existing tools.

This is truly a work of art, and also exactly the kind of tutorial I've been looking for. SLDF, here we come.
I believe that model of Awesome has three PPCs, and the left arm, where you left the center blank, is a battlefist.
Yeah I'm taking notes while watching

Oh and absolutely 10/10 going to be adding pigment powder to my basing container. I never would have thought of that without this video.

Always learning new things from your tutorials! Love it!
Awesome tutorial. Thanks for the full step by step.

My favorite faction since 1989💪
Look at that Awesome!
Man you make it look so easy.
Looks amazeballs

Checkers were done with decals and not freehand, with some time you should be able to get some on your models.
@@Thearmedpainter the black checkers you free handed
Great tutorial! Looking forward to more videos.
Always love your tutorials, they give so many ideas to consider.

No pun intended ;) lol
I know I wont win but god do I want this awesome!
I haven't seen any tutorial that used so many different painting technics. I really have to use oil washes more.
Awesome :D

Should have kept watching. How do I order custom decals from DRD?
deathraydesigns.com/product/custom-decals/
My coupon code also works on these if I recall ;)
Love the tutorial. Looking to try the oil wash. What was the oil wash that you used?
Mr. Weathering Multi-black :)
You da man
Is the Mr. Weathering Color solvent odorless? Is that a white spirit or enamel thinner?
It has an odor and smells like mineral spirits.
Between the undercoat and the decals, I don't have the fine motor control anymore.

It took me a hot minute to figure out to use speedpaint medium to thin speedpaint in an airbrush instead of water lol
