Simplesmente uma combinação fantástica: VW + Hartke. Muito inspirador ... já peguei meu baixo para brincar com os dois campos harmônicos principais que ele usa neste primeiro groove. Impossível ficar sem reação!!!❤
He’s one of the best musicians in the world of all time. His understanding/knowlage of music is out of this world and because of this its easy to understand what he is explaining. People who are difficult to understand is because they dont understand either 😅
When I first heard vic and the flecktones, it was life changing. Not only musically, but it shaped who I was as a person. Naturally, I gobbled up everything I possibly could find and saying that I’m a fanboy is a severe understatement. Furthermore, This clinic is not only for bass players, but all musicians and that’s the real magic that Vic was so kind to share with us.
In an online music landscape in which every other video is titled "10 things YOU are doing WRONG" or ""8 MISTAKES you MAKE all the TIME", it feels so refreshing to find someone so encouraging and positive about why it's OK to make "mistakes" or why you shouldn't be afraid to colour outside the lines. Every Victor Wooten lesson makes me enjoy playing music more than before.
I was fortunate enough to host a clinic with Victor in the early 2000's -- he's not only a stunningly gifted musician, but he's an absolute gem of a human. Getting to talk with him at length, listening to his stories and perspectives - it was nothing short of inspiring. What an experience.
Victor is an absolute treasure. I know whenever I click on a video interview with him I'm going to be transported to a world of pure music. I wish you could package his mindset and give it to every new musician on the planet.
Came to see his gear, but what I received was the best lesson of my life regarding music. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Victor Wooten, you're very inspiring! This video must be mandatory to any musician, no matter what level of knowledge. All music schools should recommend this to their students of any instrument. Thanks Sweetwater and Hartke for bringing this gem.
Victor Wooten said am I the Best and he said NO! WOW! What an unselfish Humble Man! Not Proud but Humble! So many people argue about who is the best guitar player or who is the best bass player and I tell them that it's all subjective. Thank you Victor Wooten🙏
This is probably the best music lesson out there, should be mandatory viewing for any aspiring musician. Huge thanks Sweetwater, Hartke, and of course Victor Wooten. Fantastic stuff!
"am i the best? no! who can say that?!" i have long maintained that it is everyone around the person in question who can decide whether or not you are the best and in my humble opinion victor is probably the best not because of his technical skill, although it is quite high indeed but because of his ability to express himself through his instrument
He's not just a great teacher but also a great inspirer. In my humble opinion, the world needs more people like him because what he is teaching can be applied to anything in life.
Mr. Wooden, God bless you and thank you for the all great music you are playing for us and teaching us. Knowledge of music theory, makes you "free" to play with the music and play music. May music make us all free!
Wooten is a genius. Makes anyone chuckle. He embrases Miles Davis philosophy: " there are no mistakes." But this was such a smooth and intriguing video.
Been playing for a while now. I never understood such an easy way to comprehend the 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, etc way to know where you are in a key. Victor doesn't miss, inspirational man.
I just bought my very first bass guitar, I’m going from piano to the guitar and listening to Victors knowledge makes me feel like I’m already ahead of the game .. he’s a amazing teacher
Beautiful. Exactly what I've needed to hear. Making it wrong so the right can be righter. I've been struggling to be confident in that. This man gets it.
Is this the best lesson in improvisation I've ever seen? If simple is best, it is. If those five out of key notes are not wrong, then there are no wrong notes. It's just when we play them that makes them more or less cool, or nice, or sweet or grating or just right. And if it doesn't sound wonderful, nobody bleeds and nobody dies. We just get an opportunity to learn how to choose them better. More playing = more mistakes = more opportunities = more education = more eloquence........ Why practice when we can jam?
What a tremendous concept - FREEDOM (just like a conversation - new, old, big, or small). Remember like a child, to be FREE!!!! I want to adopt this guy into my family!!!!
This man has always been a mentor to me. I needed to hear and see this so bad. Victor is an utter legend and he’s so humble about it. Gotta love that man!
Always great seeing people appreciated my cousins wisdoms. Not only is he an amazing bass players but hes an even better teacher and greater human being
Victor is so skilled yet so modest and humble, without doubt the greatest and wisest teacher I’ve ever had the privilege to listen to and to watch, your wisdom and knowledge are truly appreciated ❤
Victor Wooten is one of those guys whose sound is like nature itself. The epitome of being is to be absorbed by nature and to represent it and channel it to make your environment a place where freedom does not entail the need to be free. Music as a language is how we were designed to communicate our inner thoughts and feelings.
Even if the English language is not my mother tongue, there are contemporaries who manage to speak English so vividly that even such an old "Kraut" like me has to understand and virtually inhale every word.....heartfelt thanks to all the actors who made this clip possible.
Awesome video and excellent message from a true master of Bass. His philosophy goes beyond all we could imagine. ...and to the one who gave a thumbs down to the video..."hey, get a life" Thanks Sweetwater and Hartke for making this available to us, and thank Victor for some true light and words of wisdom!!
Before he even started talking I said man he looks free... this is what freedom looks like. Lo and behold he says it. The best show and tell! Thank you Sweetwater and the incomparable Victor Wooten
OH YEAH !! that was a nice way to spice up the meal, to see the harmonic scenary from a broader perspective. very well explained as long as demonstrated. LOVE IT, THANK YOU.
Just listening to Victor Wooten talk and implant diamond nuggets of brilliance concerning not only music...but life interactions is just worth more than the earthly treasures anytime to my ears!!!!
Hadn't really listened to him play in a little while. Kinda refreshing to hear his peculiar brand of rhythmic/harmonic genius on the bass guitar once again.
Huge thanks to Hartke and Victor Wooten 🔥 Don't forget to like and subscribe!
Brilliant! What looper is he using, I promise to buy it from sweetwater ;)

Simplesmente uma combinação fantástica: VW + Hartke. Muito inspirador ... já peguei meu baixo para brincar com os dois campos harmônicos principais que ele usa neste primeiro groove. Impossível ficar sem reação!!!❤
Came for a bass lesson, left with a life lesson.
Thats what the man does...Legendary
Me toooo !! He's awesome ❤
Victor is honestly the easiest person to learn from. He’s a natural born teacher. Great video.
Spot on, Eddie. 😎👊
Word!
I can’t agree on
He’s one of the best musicians in the world of all time. His understanding/knowlage of music is out of this world and because of this its easy to understand what he is explaining.
People who are difficult to understand is because they dont understand either 😅
Victor is the Bob Ross of music, and he paints with the bass. What a fantastic fellow.
Victor uses the best metaphors, he’s maybe the best bass teacher I’ve come across. Thanks Sweetwater for making this happen!!!
Thanks for checking it out, Taylor! 😊👍
@@sweetwater always and anytime my friends at Sweetwater!
he might be the best teacher period

Victor Wooten is such a source of wisdom. I wish i heard such words in my youth. Not just on music, but life wide.
ABSOLUTELY 1000% AGREE with your sentiment sir!!!
I was fortunate enough to host a clinic with Victor in the early 2000's -- he's not only a stunningly gifted musician, but he's an absolute gem of a human. Getting to talk with him at length, listening to his stories and perspectives - it was nothing short of inspiring. What an experience.
That is outstanding! I would love to sit with him and just chat. Sounds like you both exchanged gifts that you both remember for a lifetime.
"Pure freedom..." thanks to Victor to remind us music is no competition, it is soul and art.
This is definitely the most inspiring lesson of any kind that I've seen so far in my 34 years of life. Thanks to everyone for this.
Was gonna say the same.. even the 34 years part!
"Am I the best? No, who can say that?"
You are the best. Humble soul
Man is a national treasure. Ty sweetwater
"I'm not trying to be good, I'm trying to be free"
What an incredible lesson you give. Honestly, I love everything you said and do. You truly are an inspiration to me.

Victor is quite possibly the best music teacher out there. So simple, down-to-earth, yet incredibly effective. Thanks for posting this!

As a bass player coming back into it after 25 years ,this is just magic .
Thanks man ❤
He's not just a great teacher but also a great inspirer. In my humble opinion, the world needs more people like him because what he is teaching can be applied to anything in life.
Omg that little string push that taps the pickup at 3:40! I've made that sound before, I'm sure everyone has, but never musically! 😛
Mr. Wooden, God bless you and thank you for the all great music you are playing for us and teaching us.
Knowledge of music theory, makes you "free" to play with the music and play music.
May music make us all free!
This man is truly a gift to music...
Absolutely brilliant. What a man, what a teacher and what a musician.
I'm going out of this world when I am watching Victor Wooten and I am amazed every time I watch him.
Thank you Hartke and Sweetwater for sponsoring this video. Thank you, Victor, for your wisdom and insights into making music fun.
Well, if there were to be a Nobel Prize for musical understanding, that prize would unquestionably belong to Mr. Victor Wooten....!
✌😎🤘
Thank You Sweetwater 🙏, and Thank You Mr. Wooten 🙏 🎸❕
Man, Victor hitting the nail on the head as always!!
Bro the world doesn't deserve you. You're the man. ❤
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤ I was jamming with you Victor! I felt freedom as I started playing as a beginner. Thank you for this 🥰
Wooten is a genius. Makes anyone chuckle. He embrases Miles Davis philosophy: " there are no mistakes." But this was such a smooth and intriguing video.

Victor is just as great a teacher as he is a player. I'm loving the idea of embracing the "freedom" of playing over being "right"
Is this the best lesson in improvisation I've ever seen? If simple is best, it is.

That was so good. I could listen to Victor talk about music all day long.
Hadn't really listened to him play in a little while. Kinda refreshing to hear his peculiar brand of rhythmic/harmonic genius on the bass guitar once again.
That left turn is so true. Learn more about the town you are in by taking routes you would normally not take.
Damn Victor is one inspiring dude. Not only does he have a way with bass, he has a way with words.
